Arginine
I have been using this supplement for the past 2 weeks and I'm kicking myself for not having tried it sooner.

I take 5 - 10 grams/day and here are some of the things I've noticed.

*Quicker recovery time from training

*I think it helps a hangover as well

*I think it helps with energy levels while training

*MASSIVE erections since it increases blood flow

Anyone else notice these things or something I haven't listed?

RE: Arginine
What brand are you using, what form is it in, and how much was it.

I've been learning about amino acids/proteins a lot in my biochem and these effects coincide with what i've been learning. So does the wiki page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arginine

apparently it stimulates growth hormone release and is an important factor in cell repair. Plus its a precursor for creatine and NO (erections). Dope.

Yep, I take it every day, one month on, one month off (too much of one thing is not usually good). It promotes muscle growth and erections because of the nitric oxide. I use the vitaminshoppe brand.

RE: Arginine
Yes it does all of this. I use it as my pre-workout currently. The quicker recovery I have not even thought about but it does makes sense as I am hitting my my routines twice a week now with no issues in recovery. I only rest Mondays and hit all the main parts twice and I am ready to go in 48hrs.

RE: Arginine
Arginine like any amino acid works best when combined with other amino acids. A high Protein diet .75g - 2 g per lb of body weight should produce the exact same results without specific amino acid supplementation.

Your probably better off saving your money for eggs and beef

Yea but Arginine is specially responsible for getting that Nitric Oxide in your body going. Your body pumps that Argnine prior to pumping the NO, it gives it a kick in the jaw. And arginine is fairly cheap, this is why I use it as a pre-workout as its cheaper then pre-workouts from the supplement stores.

I buy most of my vitamins at swansonvitamins.com I have the Arginine AKG Powder and I think it was about 8 bucks the container has 350grams (although I bought it when they had a sale, which they always do)

i heard a lot of porn stars use it to boost their loads. I bought it years ago and noticed a slight difference.

Any experience with this ?

RE: Arginine
it does work in my experience but you do need a lot of it (+8g a day),but there are studies showing that arginine does nothing to increase nitric oxide, but science isnt correct all the time,if it works it works i dont care what a study says.

look into citrulline malate,vinpocetine etc.

best NATURAL NO BOOSTER? = beetroot.yeh that horrible purple vegetable you've probably never eaten. i eat it all the time to keep my blood pressure low,and if you eat it often enough you'll feel great, better pumps from the NO!

RE: Arginine
Ive never heard of taking Arginine by itself lol I learn something new on this forum every day. I know that Arginine and Citruline Malate help with the absorption of Beta Alinine. Beta Alinine is the shit, far superior to creatine if you can handle the tingles that come with it. Takes about 1 month to become abundant but after that your in BEAST MODE

RE: Arginine
Arginine works best when combined with Citrullin (ration about 2:1). It is important to take it on an empty stomach, 1 tablespoon twice a day.
Take some antioxidants (grape seed flour) along with it. I found it gives you great hard erections.

Btw, theses are the main ingredients of most pump supplements (NO-X etc.) and "erection boosters", both of which are overpriced marketing bs.

Arginine is awesome. Great for erections + increased energy. Can give you cramps if you take too much, though.

Quote:i heard a lot of porn stars use it to boost their loads

Yep. Here's a good combination for that, specifically:

- L-Arginine
- Soy Lecithin
- Zinc
- Lots of fruits/vegetables.

From a personal standpoint, I noticed no effect from supplementing l-arginine.

I am def noticing an effect. I didn't even know it was supposed to do this stuff being touted beforehand so it can't be a placebo.

I bought Source Natural's L-Arginine 1000mg, a few days ago. I'm taking it daily, but nothing has changed as of yet.

You're taking 1gram man. We're talking about 5-10+ a day...

Don't you get stomach cramps by taking that much arginine? I'll take 2 grams from now on.

None, I feel great. Hell, the serving scoop I use has 3 grams in it.

I've been taking two 500mg pills from GNC daily. I gotta tell you my stress level is down and I just have a general all around feeling of well being. I feel rested and have a clear head. I'm scared to take 10 grams of anything. Sheesh Laugh I'll ramp it up a little at a time and see how it goes.

I eat them all the time. Sauteed in olive oil they make a great compliment for steaks.

Careful. Arginine can make herpesviruses go nuts. Most of us have them in some form or another. If you feel abnormally run down, have any odd nerve pain, or you're getting a lot of cold sores after taking it, think about cutting back.

Other than that it's great for everything mentioned.
