These celebrities HAD to say something neutral, this was when him hitting her was alleged, but I guess innocent before proven guilty is a concept unknown to feminists.

Its almost like they're writing about this for attention. Sad part is even if he had cried, repented and donated mass amounts of money to anti-domestic abuse charities feminists would still be crucifying him for his PAST actions. Feminists have no concept of the legal system and that is scary given what can happen if you make one "mistake" that may or may not be misinterpreted.

Still, he beat the shit out of her. I don't disagree with his presence at the Grammy's since I think we all deserve some forgiveness but his less-than-warm reception from some should come as no surprise.

Hell, feminists devote entire sites to taking pictures of some guy they think is checking them out on the subway and labeling it as harassment. Google 'Holla Back [city name]'. We can only hope that day game becomes such a prevalent rite of passage for young men that "stress harassment" never dies.

One of the great failures of modern feminism is its own inherent infantilization of women-it consistently attributes the vast majority of causes for situations like this to men and "the patriarchy", and seems to underplay or simply deny that women have a significant and often predominant role in creating and perpetuating situations like this. It is as if they are always and forever mere pawns with no agency.

This is the second most liked comment on that buzzfeed article, and it comes from a girl who lives in London:

The reality of the situation is that the "culture" and "the patriarchy" are not the reason Chris Brown is famous and popular (said popularity being the only reason execs bother to put him out there). He is popular because many women find him appealing-it is simple as that.

If women are to truly be considered equal to men in terms of their maturity and responsibility for their own lives as adults, then we must stop assuming that they are mere pawns to consistently be acted upon by men or patriarchal conspiracies and acknowledge that they have agency of their own, and can make their own decisions. The appeal of Chris Brown is the result of many women (who, again, we must assume are as intelligent and mature as any man if we are to go by feminist rhetoric) making their own conscious decision to praise him.

Blaming men accomplishes nothing. Most men are not huge fans of Chris Brown, and do not at all condone domestic violence-they're not trying to promote or encourage this. They are not the reason he's still out there. Many women rallied to Chris Brown en masse following his alleged offense against Rhianna, and they stick by him today-that was nobody else's fault or decision but their own. If this is to end, then those same women must stand up and simply say no to this man and to men like him. Nobody else can make this decision for them, and (given the supposed existence of total female equality and maturity) nobody else should have to.

You cannot claim that women are in fact a) entirely independent and no longer necessarily dependent on men and b) entirely equal to men in every tangible way (mature, intelligent, etc) as most feminists do while at the same time tacitly infantilizing them in this manner.

Until we recognize the role women and their own agency plays in directing all of this, nothing will change. Feminists do not seem to understand this, which is why most of what they say seems to be falling on deaf ears these days and will continue to.

I don't even bother engaging in this. I was with my female cousin this weekend and another female friend of hers. My cousin said, if a woman puts her hands on a man, she should expect to get her azz beat. Anyone who expects a man to operate on this archaic sense of valor while a woman can get away with that is on some special drugs.

However, bear in mind that my cousin grew up in a patriarchal culture and welcomes the traditional roles between men and women. She actually condemns women who don't adhere to these roles.

She called Kobe's soon to be ex wife an idiot for wanting a divorce because Kobe cheated.

Her rationale was, who was Vanessa before Kobe? Nothing. Now she is in the limelight and she wants to call shots? My cousin said that if Vanessa was from Africa and she came back on that bullshyt (divorce because a wealthy husband is cheating), the women in the village would quickly deliver a group beatdown on Vanessa for being such a dumbazz.

These are the words of a woman cultivated in a patriarchal culture. Her friend, also from the same country, agreed with my female cousin's rantings.

The good news is that, globally, women closer to this mindset VASTLY outnumber those of the more delusional mindsets we're used to here in the urban USA.

Chris Brown is at the Grammys because his records sell. Chicks still throw panties onstage when he performs. Awards programs don't exist to reward or punish character - they're about who sells. Period. If they were about character, there wouldn't be many nominees because show business is full of druggies, alcoholics, adulterers, bigots, sexists, etc. etc. The night before one of their own succumbed to some of those very demons. The night was about professing their undying love for her. Rihanna and Chris Brown had a volatile relationship, and she did put her hands on him (she was always jealous and paranoid about him fucking other bitches because his phone was always blowing up. That's supposedly what set her off and caused her to throw his car keys down the street, and subsequently get her ass beat). The images of her busted-up face were powerful, and for all the drivel talking heads spout about this being a nation of second chances and forgiveness, that's simply not true. When you fuck up, it's always thrown back in your face forever, and the public really doesn't want to see you move on from your mistake (if slapping her up was a mistake in the first place - if she hit him, she got what she got. He DID kind of go overboard...HA HA!). As you've shown with some of those FB posts, he isn't in need of forgiveness. Plenty of women didn't give a fuck about what he did to Rihanna. They want their shot at him.
