For me I feel like there needs to be more for it to be an approach. I feel like there are two hard parts to opening, the first words, and transitioning to letting her know your interested. I feel like after those two things are over you can read her body language to see if she'd say yes to her number. But those are the two hard parts to an approach. I don't feel I've really done an approach until both are fulfilled.

mmmm....I have to disagree here.

Asking a woman a question during the day about some situational thing doesn't necessarily count as an approach, if what we're talking about is you conveying actual interest in the woman, which many men don't do, but then they rationalize that it WAS a "real" approach, even though they avoided the possibility of rejection, and as a result, the possibility the interaction could have led to sex.

I would constitute an approach as interacting(IM, text included) with a woman for the purpose of making the desired relationship(FB, ONS,etc..) that you would like to have with her.

e.g: Getting into the orbiter zone does not count as a successful approach if you are trying to FWB a given woman. However, the orbiter zone is a successful approach if you are trying to get there in order to meet the friends of a given woman.
