Ask a Belarussian ANYTHING
I've helped this Belarussian dude in his job search in the USA and we're on friendly terms.

He's a bit older, and hasn't been to Belarus in a while..but he's got a wealth of cultural knowledge and he's good with the ladies.
He's an industrial guy (welder) so he know's industrial cities well and the mentality of the people.

I've been trying to get advice on girls, and he's been helpful...even if a bit unclear.

Advice so Far:
He said getting flowers is good for a date. Also, a small present (nothing expensive- he suggested a keychain from Poland)
As to "Why are you Here?" he said I should say I like the university there and its got a quality faculty for learning. Everyone likes having their city complimented.

other advice-
keep it simple, interview style questions etc.
belarussians are a very calm and peaceful people-very true, I'm looking for a calm and quiet girl and this is exactly what they have.

What kind of questions do you guys have that I can ask him?
I'll post his answers here.

The Belarussian guy and I are getting along great. Its weird..like the father figure/mentor I never had.

Good advice regarding girls and a lot of good life advice.

It seems like having a general conversation about basic stuff is all that I need to get a girl. Plus, not being an alcoholic and being a hard worker.

*****

Some 5-star advice I got was to learn a little about a lot. I need to read up on a wide range of convo subjects..even if its only really general. For example, know what movies are playing in the cinemas, know a little about Russian lit, know what sports events are going on in town, watch the news and see what current events are, music, etc.

He stressed that it doesn't have to be in depth..but a sentence or two about a wide range of topics will do wonders.

Hmm, I'm not sure how to answer "how they think".
This is a good question, I'll ask the guy tomorrow.

One example, my friend was telling me about how he was looking for jobs. He was living in Germany at the time, but his wife is Belarussian too. He said he told her about maybe being a truck driver for long distances. His wife said, "ok...but know this. after 3 days I will have another man as a boyfriend. I need the presence of a strong man in the house."

It seems like slavic women need lots of "presence". You don't have to do a lot..but you've got to be there. You don't have to say super interesting things on a date, or go somewhere fancy...but you have to put in the time, etc.

Crucial! Mind asking him how open university girls are to meeting foreign students there who are fluent in Russian? Also, am I correct in presuming that the "Russian Soul" is as prevalent in Belarus as in Russia?
