I'm talking about online game here. So this is one of the few times where I've been ''talking'' to a girl online and she just shows no interest in the conversation but she shows initial interest in the fact that she messaged me first she obviously likes my look.
Usually when I IM girls they show some kind of interest even if its just returning my questions but this girl just replies doesn't ask me anything, but always replies straight away and usually with a or something. So what I'm getting at is should I give up if a girl is like this or is there a new way to approach it?

You will have to carry her and the conversation yourself. Then go for the date quickly. It's a waste of time to try to get a huge dialogue going. Get in a few messages then go for the date.

Problem is, I'm ''pipelining'' ready for my trip in around a month so I cant set up a date as quickly.

Sure you can. Trust me when I say you don't want constant interaction with these girls up until you fly in. Pique their interest, tell them when you'll be in town / exchange information. Hit her up a week before your trip and you're good.

I agree with Gmac but out of curiosity did you try asking her things like, "whats the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?" etc. just to see if she'd give you more of a response then a short yes or no?

No I didn't, I was just asking the basics. Then I got a bit fed up of her lack of effort and stopped talking to her.

This is extremely common with girls online (and during the first 10-15 of an in person approach). They make no effort and expect you to carry the conversation

Avoid asking her too many "interview" type questions, these can bore her.

Try to be fun and flirty without getting too sexual. Make jokes, tell her about something you're doing that's interesting, make amusing comments

As Gmac says, it's important to not engage in longwinded messaging with these girls. Build some attraction, get their info and keep a sense of mystery about yourself.

My old roommate and I had a name for these kinds of chicks: deadbeats.

This was before the internet though, so we were talking about chicks who, in offline conversations, just don't bring anything to the table. They stick around, so they're probably interested, but they just don't contribute. Basically, they're deadbeats.
