I want to get some fake tattoos - any recommendations for making them look real?

I'm not a tattoo person but I want to put some fake ones on my arm for a social experiment.

Anyone ever do this? Recommendations for where to buy the tats? And how to make em look real instead of fake?

If I'm not mistaken there are some fake tattoes that are done just the way a normal tattoo would, but they wear off after a certain period of time, I'm not sure about this though. The only fake tattoos I've ever experimented with were the ones that worked with water .

Ah the good old childhood days...

Apparently this Tinsley Transfers is the 'go to' of fake tattoos for hollywood, although i suspect movies do it a bit more professionally than water based txfers. The site claims, however, that they did ryan goslings tats here:
