Congrats on the new gig. I'm curious, what got you into promoting? Where will you be throwing parties?
I've been working in clubs for 6 years now, so I've seen a lot of different approaches, I'm going to break some of them down for you, so this is gonna be pretty long.
If you're in a part of the country with a nightlife worth talking about, the girls you are going to be dealing with are going to be the most materialistic, backstabbing, fickle and flaketastic chicks you've ever met. I've never been more appaled at the behavior of humanity than during my time at nightclubs as an dj / promoter. Do not forget this, they will use you for as many perks as possible for as long as you'll let them. You have to frame things subtly that if you're going to be hooking them up with shit that they should expect to bang.
They are usually online concerned with what you can do for them, which is almost always the following:
getting them into the club for free
skipping the line
Hooking them up on drinks
Getting rides home / food after the nights over (it never ceases to amaze me how simple things like getting a ride home and getting some late night grub are akin to climbing everest for the modern chick, they literally need nightlife babysitters)
Lets break these down then we'll go into some more theory:
Getting them in free:
As the promoter you'll be allowed to create a "list" of people that get in that night no matter what.
Dangle this in front of chicks faces like they dangle their bodies around to get what they want.
"I can put you on the list" is such an amazing line to have in your back pocket when talking to girls about your promoter gig. chicks that are more savvy will ask you to get on the list when they find out what you do (they're probably doing this at multiple venues in the city, chicks are very calculating about the prospect of getting hooked up). with younger girls or ones that aren't club veterans its a great way to set yourself up as the big kahuna who get's shit done.
BEWARE, chicks will use you for access to the club, so you'll have to keep them in check by making them work for it (read: SEX)
Skipping the line:
Girls love the idea of being able to text you when they're waiting in line to see if you can come get them in. Again, chicks will abuse the hell out of this, so you'll have to use it to reward good behavior (SEX). Its also a great way to get in with her friends if they know you're someone that can hook them up. I suggest playing it one of two ways:
1) acting like its no big deal for you to get them in since you "run the place"
or
2)Act like you are pulling major strings to get them in, reinforcing to her that she's getting a hook up. She'll either feel indebted to repay you (SEX) or be flattered that your making accommodations for her. A corollary would be to tell them not to get used to it, so they know that if they want to keep getting in with no hassles then they are gonna have to make it worth your while (THREESOME or more)
Since you'll spend some time working the line outside, find chicks who are hot when you're out there and pull them out of the line and into the club. Even if you don't know these chicks at all, NO GIRL in their right mind will turn down skipping the line to come inside. The chicks outside that don't get "picked" will be driven insane and start finding ways to impress you so they can get the special treatment (SEX). Don't just let them come in and then bouce, take them to a buddy's table and introduce them, then tell them you have to take care of some stuff and you'll be back later. OR you can post up with them for a little bit and get a few lines of information, maybe a number, then bounce and see them later when you have time. Key here is to stay busy. Since you're running the joint, you can't just plant roots and talk to her for an hour, keep her on her toes by bouncing around the spot TCB-ing (Taking care of business). Walk right past her later on without saying anything on your way to some important task. They'll try and grab ur attention, but act like you cant be bothered right now and you'll come say hi later. They'll dig the fact that your busy and getting shit done and will wait around for you to notice them.
Hooking them up on drinks
Tricky territory. As a promoter see if the club lets you have a "Tab" that your allowed to buy drinks on for yourself and others. DJs get this most everywhere. Again, just like the line situation, you can't allow them to abuse it otherwise they'll bankrupt you. Make sure they know that can get free drinks but don't shower them with it right away, make them earn it. Make sure they see you getting drinks for other people, this will drive them nuts. The jealousy of these girls is amazing to watch, even over something as simple as a $6 drink. Its worth your time to get a drink for a consistent attende (GIRL WHO COMES TO THE CLUB WHO YOU BANG ON THE REG) a drink or two, and the same goes for a girl who is obvi DTF.
DO NOT become their personal cocktail waiter, they need to understand that to get drinks from you there will have to be an exchange of sex and they need to fall in line.
Rides home / food, general late night
Late night logistics are in your favor as a promoter.
Think about all the times you've gone out with ur friends to a club and how short of a window you have once the lights come on. As the promoter you bypass this and can even invite people to hang out and drink WELL past last call / bar closing. This will allow you to isolate them and start setting up the "afterparty" at your place or her place. Get them a spot to sit at while you "close out the night", which is talking to bartenders and managers, maybe collecting some dough (if you are getting a cut that night make sure they see you, DHV is hug here and money gets these girls super excited). I love how if you frame things right, chicks will do anything you say at the end of the night in these situations. "You all just chill right here while I go take care of a few things, then we'll roll to IHOP and maybe back to my place for more drinks." They won't even say anything, they'll sit there and nod like preschoolers listening to their teachers give instructions, its amazing. Since simple late night logistics like a cab and food are over most drunk club girl's heads, they are okay adopting the role of student as you instruct them on how the rest of the night is going to go. Strong frame is crucial here
Misc hookups
Tell them that you can introduce them to the DJ and even let them hang out in the booth for a little bit while he spins. Chicks LOVE being in the booth. If its a proper setup that is centered on the dance floor and elevated this is even more of a thrill for them. Get tight with the DJ and let him know you might bring some girls in there to hang out, most DJs are cool with this as long as they don't fuck with equipment in the booth. At clubs these days the booth just kind of becomes another table service area for VIPs and chicks love being in there.
Show them a bathroom no one else can use that has no line, CRUCIAL for girls.
Invite them to come hang out with you as you "work" the line outside. Ask for their opinions on who should and shouldn't be let in. They'll get off on this like you wouldn't believe.

I can't stress enough how the tactics above are meant to utilize what really gets chicks off when it comes to nightlife. U don't have to spend a ton of money (or any) for it to work, this is just another day at the office for you. They want to feel like Paris Hilton getting hooked up at some exclusive venue, and u can provide them with that based on ur job. Exploit the hell out of it.
To use a sales analogy, you're "funnel" will be full of "leads" (chicks) who are interested in you because of what you do. From then you'll have to qualify the ones who are DTF. I've spent about 6 years DJ-ing in clubs and its a great way to meet chicks, they'll usually approach YOU once they realize you "work" there. I'm not a big DHV guy, but working at a club is a pretty good way to earn status points and get the girl interested in knowing more about you. Depending on how tight your game is you may not even have to actually hook them up with shit, just make it seem like its a possibility. Thats because:
Women who get dolled up to go clubbing are addicted to the status and the idea of getting "hooked up". It's like how Jerry Seinfled described his dad in the episode "The Wizard": "He doesn't care about the gift. He gets excited about the deal" They like being able to say "I know the promoter" or "I hooked up with the DJ", just to say it, even though it usually doesn't turn into some amazing free night of bottle service and fist pumping.
Another benefit is that because of your status as the promoter you'll have girls hanging all over you either asking for stuff or just hanging out with you for the status points, which other chicks will notice. This pre-selection is so crucial at a club and will make other girls intrigued by the idea of you.
Make sure you look baller when you're working. Specifics will depend on what type of venue you're promoting at, but it should be obvious on first glance that you're somebody of importance. You may not actually need a super redic wardrobe to pull this off, but it certainly helps maintain that status and mental frame of being in charge.
These are my big takeaways, but im curious to see what other people have dealt with here as well.
