Two openers for networking

Two openers for networking
I've stumbled upon two openers to start conversations with strangers for networking, which I like and I plan to test drive soon:

1) "Do you know where the library is?"

I think the library opener will be easier for me to pull of than the pet-store opener.

2) "Hi! How are you connected to this event?"
This is for networking in conferences or large gatherings. I got it from this schematic:
