The only things which are considerably cheaper in Belarus are smokes, gasoline and alcohols, my hotel was expensive as if it was somewhere in the Western Europe, I wasn't shopping back then, so wait until I'll be back from my 2nd visit for more info.

Neither Ukrainian or Belorussian. Polish girls consider nations from the East of Poland as an extreme versions of Polish men (poorer, drinks more, more aggressive and violent towards women etc.) I even got an example to prove it: my mentioned in the DS friend from Ukraine was on a night out with me in Warsaw, even tho he's an oligarch, he had no success, telling to a Polish girls that you are from the East is a big turn off.

Great data sheet, polish rumble. I found it really informative. The part about the wimpy guy-hot girl combo seems to be a running theme throughout Eastern Europe, and I've been thinking about this phenomenon and why it doesn't seem to exist in the West.

I'm theorizing that it's because there's no monetary "safety net" for people in EE countries. The aggressive, muscular, highly masculine dudes don't have the privilege of welfare and other forms of government assistance like guys in the West have, so when they don't go to school and instead get caught up playing "alpha male" on their local block or village, they get left behind by the geeky dudes who go to school and set up a lifestyle for themselves locally.

When faced with the choice of financial security with a guy we'd describe as "beta" and a dirt-poor dude who we'd categorize as "alpha" in the West, she's going to choose the former. Anybody have any opinions on this thought?

I spent a lot of time in Lebanon, which is probably about the same in terms of socioeconomics as Belarus, and I saw this a lot there as well.

No,Belarussian dudes can be athletic but they are seldom aggressive.There is a lot of the Soviet style guy(good built) in Belarussian province.They get girls because they look good.In fact I did not see ugly dudes with hot girls(for example old,short,fat,bald dudes) like it is the case in Ukraine.Belarus is relatively unspoiled likely due to fact there are every few riches there since state controls everything(70-80% of economy is state owned).Most of Belarussians make exactly the same money.

Kamaki, what is the average monthly wage in Belarus, especially in Minsk? I am thinking it is lower than Ukraine.

When I visited last year it was 1 euro=6800 BYR if I remember and the salaries were about 1 million BYR/month but probably now they will have gone up to keep with inflation.(you cannot imagine how many people waited in line in exchange office to get some euros).
I think Belarussian wage must be 180-220 euro per month while Ukrainian is more close to 160-200 euro per month.The difference is that in Kiev the wages are much higher than the average for Ukraine they are almost double(close to 350-400 euro per month) while in Minsk they are not that higher from Belarussian average(they must be around 250-300 euro per month).

Infrastructure in Belarus is also much better they have kept intact the Soviet infrastructure while the Ukrainian one was stolen(you see for example buildings in good condition in Belarus,functional cities etc while Ukrainian cities are in condition of decay they do not have money to renovate the historical buildings.In many cases it is even dangerous to walk close to them for danger of collapse).

The problem with Minsk was always that despite the low average wage,it was never very cheap. For the most part this was because there were simply no cheap hotels ( The Planeta was cheapest but even that was about €60 a night ). Apartments were damned expensive too. The only cheap way of staying in Minsk was to get hold of the local paper 'Iz Ruk V Ruki' and finding a locally rented apartment which were cheap but required you to be in the country to sort it out.

The good new is that Airbnb has changed that a little. The first hostels have now opened ( I know we don't want hostels necessarily but as a bridge until you find something cheaper they are great ) and there are some cheaper deals out there for apartments. It's opened the market and hence prices have dropped. The only problem is that most advertisers on there can't offer visa support.

Other things can be cheap in Minsk but not so much in the centre and not as cheap as people might think they would be. Clubs are not overly cheap nor restaurants,and I don't think the devaluation has changed that much according to people I know who've been in the last year. Prices for drinks and club entry etc has risen in line with the devaluation so things are not half as expensive as they were before.

FSU countries worship exclusivity. Therefore, clubs and restaurants are expensive , although , based on avg. income , prices should be much less. Going to provinces reduces the figures . However the culture tends t ocater to those with money and those without have to find money. Services do not cater to low or middle income. Gov't services seem to be the exception due to subsidies.

I second that, we all need to remember that Belarussian economy is centrally planned, the next thing is that the biggest import/export partner is Russia so think about the type and quality of products which are exchanged, add to that a couple of embargos established by EU because of 'multiple crimes against freedom of speech' and there you go - current prices in Minsk.

They are but the problem is finding cheap accommodation. Belarus has this excriminatory system in hotel pricing that means that Belorussians pay next to nothing for a room,a CIS member country citizen pays a heavily subsidized price and everyone else pays top money for what is usually a shitty Un-remounted room in a soviet monolith. I paid about €100 Euros in the hotel in Gomel and it was dire. Hopefully Airbnb will start to make in roads in provincial towns. Apartments can be had for 200USD a month but you need to blag the owner that you will rent it long term and you need to be on the ground to find them.

Apart from that,yeah very cheap. Transport,drinks,restaurants. I swear by the old Soviet canteens ( stolovayas ) that you find in every provincial city,there are some
excellent ones out there as good as any restaurant but a fraction of the price. Clubs are cheap but most girls can't afford them and so prefer to promenade with a bottle of beer along the river front or through the parks. Gomel and Vitebsk were excellent for this. The other thing that makes the provinces cheap is that there is nothing to buy,zero temptations! If I'm bored in a foreign country I find myself buying shit I don't really need but in Belarus there are no shopping centers outside of Minsk. There are just markets selling shoddy Ukrainian clothes and engine parts.

SOCIETY & NATION :
• Belarusian language is considered to be embarrassing buz it’s in usage mainly in small towns and villages, therefore if you speak in Belorussian you are considered to be a peasant (interesting detail)
• Very low sense of patriotism (Russians and Western Ukrainians are proud of who they are, Belarusians ain’t)
• Lukashenka and political topics are taboo, the younger ones hate the dictator and want the change to happen, the elder ones don’t really care
• Belarusians feel undestimated, like a 2nd category European citizens, they need visas to enter literally every country apart from Russia and many of them can’t even afford it
• Germany is considered as an Arcadia, you wouldn’t guess how many people would like to live there
• People are usually very friendly, cultural and modest
• Guys are the least aggressive from FSU countries, If I had to put EE men in order from most to the lest aggressive that would be RUS > POL > UKR > BYR
• Do not believe in Belarusian average wage provided by the government, the real value is around 150 $, Belarusian ruble is so unstable that the locals usually have their saving in foreign currency
• Minsk isn’t cheap, now I know for sure, food in Minsk is more expensive than Polish one, and the quality is worst
• You will be surprised how many goods are local or Russian production (70-80%), and how many fakes you can find here (at least the girls won’t ask for a Gucci lingerie lol)
• University year starts in September
• Now I know why Minsk is so clean and free from abandoned animals or homeless people – bcuz of people sentenced to public work cleaning the city every morning and Militia who is taking care of homeless and animals (If you know what I mean)

NIGHTLIFE
• In my DS I have visited (as It turned out later) the best venues in town, and pretty much that was why I was struggling so hard. Gaming in Dozari is like gaming in Soho Moscow , you know what I mean ? If you want to set your bar high this should be your choice, but I discovered many smaller places with a slutty vibe where Belarusian girls show their true colours

• Now, after spending there sometime, and seeing the students in action I have to change some of my insights from the DS

If you ever been to Russia, you will find Belarus (Minsk) as a more relaxed, less tensed and peaceful place. Women are as well a softer Russian version, nicer. In Russia (Moscow) there is very strict law against gambling, so Russians often come to Minsk for its casinos. They find Minsk to be 5 times cheaper than Moscow. One of them told me : “Here in Minsk for a dinner in a exclusive restaurant you have to pay 100 $. In Moscow you won’t get a lunch for that amount of money”. So called ‘Junked Tours’ are becoming more and more popular in Russia. I mentioned all of this to show you that the true competition in Minsk ain’t Westerners but Easterners.

If you are residing in Crowne Plaza its a must visit, the crowd mostly consist of the hotel guests, but it's not popular in the student community, in other words it's not the place for looking after students.

I think belarussian women tend to have more slender/modelesque figures, taller and also a bit blonder on average than polish. Poland have more curvy women/fuller and of average height, I guess it varies per region though. I would guess belarusian women have smaller breast comoared to polish ones. I wouldnt say the ass is flat though.. It might be not as big but usually good shaped.

It also depends where in poland we are talking about.. I have seen some polish women from south-east.. and they didnt look like typical polish from warsaw... but clearly germanic influenced and closer to the Czech... which I personally find nicer... Southern-western polish women must be the prettiest in poland I think.

Nobody here so far. Went to Dozari tonight, me and my friend were the only foreigners there. Completely destroyed the venue, I heavily made out with a 8.5 in front of her best friend (who was also a 8.5) and tomorrow I have a date with the best friend, she actually didn't care I was making out with the original chick. Suffered two jealousy scenes from girls that got upset that I was talking to other girls. In the end my friend had to pull me out of the club because I was too drunk but I was still flirting non stop with girls. I'm not lying if I say 80% of the girls in the club were trying to hit on me, and some of them got quite upset because I wasn't paying attention to them. The ratio was easily 80-20% and there was no competition whatsoever. Never happened to me in my life (and Kiev was awesome a couple of years ago). I would move here in a whim, the potential is immense.

After the club we went for sushi in the restaurant next to Dozari. My friend started chatting with a girl there (a 7). He's still with her. I came back home because I was too drunk and her friend wasn't hot. My friend doesn't know the community and essentially doesn't have any game. It's that easy.

We had no problems to get in. The key is the same as in other places. Arrive super early and go VERY well dressed. I was dressed on jeans, a shirt, suspenders and a tie, and a nice Diesel jacket on top of it. We had no problems whatsoever, although we arrived at 11:45 and had to wait a good two hours before the venue really started rocking. We'll definitely go back tomorrow.
