There needs to be some sort of consensus approach to legally treating trolling.

At the moment, it is clear something needs to be done, but it is like a free-for-all. This guy got a massive sentence, which is more than death-threat people who get let off with a caution, and more than 4chan nerds who say they're going to set off a bomb.

It is obviously going to be a problem in the future, so it needs to be sorted out. it isn't fair to regular people to get charged for crimes where the rules aren't already clearly stated.

People plead guilty too fast. Most of the time the prosecutor is just trying to scare you into accepting some bullshit charge. If you actually looked like you can fight the bs charge, they'll give in real fast because the courts (US in particular) aren't set up for long cases.
