I'm a guy from the midwest looking to move to LA this year, or LA metro. I also like Asian women a lot.

I heard in LA there is an "Asian-only" nightlife, and not being Asian myself, I'm not sure about how to get into this scene. I also don't know anyone there.

So...how do LA chicks take it when they find out a guy has no social proof there? Are there enough chicks who moved there recently as well and don't know that many people that you can meet online? I literally see hundreds of profiles of 7 & up in LA.

Where I live now, all of my friends are literally married. So, while I know people, I don't really have people to go out with, except on rare occasions.

The online dating in my city is terrible by the way. The only good thing, sometimes I'll run into someone I used to work with if I go out, or from college, so I'm able to feign some social proof. Although, now that I prefer to use my middle-name, I don't like explaining this, and it's been a catalyst for me to wanna move. (just wanted to give some backstory on why I want to leave). And the midwest is boring.

I like LA. I'm into fashion as well, which gets me dismissed as gay here, and it's getting old having to explain...tell them you aren't gay...and they get disappointed..stuff like "Oh, I've always wanted a gay friend", but you aren't the 6'2 white guy ex-fraternity president ex-high school QB they are 'waiting' for. Maybe you can pull a fling in the short-term, but even that is difficult with these women when they have hundreds of options. Especially the very small amount of good-looking available women with no kids past 25 here.

It's not exclusively "Asian-only" unless you're talking about seedy(and perhaps semi-legal?) hostess clubs in Koreatown where you need to be a member to get in. Downtown nightlife has a heavy Asian presence. Go to the Exchange Nightclub and you'll find all the yellow skin you can handle. A lot of clubs in hollywood will have unofficial "Asian nights" where most people are Asian, although there's always other types of people too. That can change from month to month and I don't closely follow the Hollywood scene so can't give any recommendations there, but Yelp is your friend.

Very transient population, nobody will care. If anything it's a great conversation starter saying you just moved here from somewhere else.

How are the Asian women there? Typically conservative, depending on country? Are they approachable when in all-Asian groups? Asian women typically seem to like me (I've noticed they like fashion), but the ones I meet are rarely available.

I've heard Filipinas like to party and are sexually liberated (SE Asian women in general), Chinese/Japanese/Korean tend to be more centered around becoming a doctor sort of culture.

I also heard everyone wants to be Japanese, so I don't really know how the countries divide.

Korean and Vietnamese women seem to be the most conservative, especially when surrounded by their own. But white men do really well with Asian women in general. I'd say many outright prefer them to Asian men. You should have no problems slaying Asian women left and right if you are a tall, decent-looking white dude. Especially Filipina, Japanese and Chinese, though you should do good with Korean too. Problem with Koreans is that they are often in mixed sets and the guys will cockblock the hell out of you if you try to move in on the women in their set. Seem it many times when one of my wings would approach an Asian set. If you see an Asian two-set at a bar, that's like a sure number close even if you have average game.

I'm Hispanic (south american but look more portuguese or spanish), not that tall at 5'9 though.

For some reason, the Vietnamese women I've met haven't seen that conservative.

I have noticed Koreatown is very affordable by LA standards...is it ghetto or something?

It's a mix of Korean and Latino. Hard to describe. It can be kind of gritty and seedy, but it's also seen as a hip part of town and is maybe the only part of L.A. that is truly 24hrs. Lots of cool, older apartments with nice architecture. Lots of hipsters. Fairly walkable. Tons of restaurants and bars and illegal afterhours spots. Would be a hell of a change from your mid-western town. Not really for me as I like places that are clean and more calm with some nature near by, but Koreatown is pretty cool in my opinion.

You need to be in West LA. Hollywood would also work I guess, but I can't stand it personally so I can't recommend it.

Downtown/K-town/SGV asians are quite territorial, its hard to break into the social circle unless you are friends with other asian guys. In West LA area, many of the asians there are more open to other ethnicities. Also doesn't hurt being near UCLA. However, you won't really find venues with a high number of strictly asians around the westside, like I said its more varied and race is not that big of an issue for the most part on the w-side.

And there's a Japanese street (Sawtelle) with lots of japanese restaurants (no nightlife though on that street unless you call a boba tea house open late as that).

You seem like you do a lot of online dating, and if you don't go to bars/nightlife a lot I would also consider the Long Beach or Cerritos (if you like filipinos) areas as well. long beach has more nightlife though but its close enough. They are outside the normal parts of what you would consider "LA", but reading your post it doesn't seem like you'd be into that anyway. I mean its gotta be an upgrade from the midwest.

I would like to go out to bars more where I am, but I live far from the local nightlife. Also, I hate being one of very few cars driving back to this part of town after the bars close, even if I've only had 2 beers. Taking cabs always costs a lot too.

For a mid-sized city, where the bars are concentrated, it actually costs a lot to get an apartment here, for what this city offers. I would rather spend the same amount to be in LA, even if not the good part of LA.

I've looked into West LA, too expensive. Los Feliz will sometimes have a studio or 1-bedroom between $750-850. They don't last long though. Same with Echo Park, or the older parts of Hollywood by the 101. I was looking at Thai Town as well. Anywhere with hipsters usually isn't too ghetto in my opinion, even if it looks ghetto.
