Excuse my total lack of tech knowledge but is it possible to somehow take a video from YouTube and put it onto my iPad so that I can watch it whenever I want even without Internet connection? I know it's possible to lift the sound from videos and convert to mp3 but can an entire video with the visuals be saved too?

I use an app on my iphone called FoxTube which lets you download and cache videos while on wifi and then replay any time. Not sure what the limits to caching, etc. are though.

You can also get a downloader extension for your browser which lets you download the raw youtube video in FLV format. Then all you need is software to convert the FLV file to MP4. Not sure what the best software for that is though.

Yes,what I use is downthemall and bytubed.Those are 2 Firefox extensions,with which you can download all the videos that you see on the page.They are quick and simple to use and you can choose to download in mp4, which is readable by the ipad

YT vids are flashvideos (.flv) a popular format. Realplayer is a free program that will automatically anything on a webpage with the .flv extnesion and give you option to download. Also works great on xvideo, redtube, spankwire etc, it's why I don't subscribe to pornsite anymore.

With GoodPlayer you can watch the downloaded videos directly, no need for conversion.
