You should actually look at getting a single vent in your new blazers. Single is a bit more casual than double and that makes it more appropriate for a blazer or sportcoat. The problem with going ventless is that the jacket will bunch up when you're sitting down instead of properly flaring over your hips.

Just to weigh in:

Made in England: Unless your talking finest Huddersfield worsted cloth, this is marketing cache.
You will most probably charge a premium price f or a inferior product that is most likely made by low skilled immigrants, and would be better off buying made in turkey or yes, mad in china.
Globalisation as it is, it's all about quality control, rather then point of origin.

Super numbers- again this is a measure of thread count, and does not mean bigger is better. The better tailors will talk about the weight of the cloth.

This might seem controversial, but ifor 99% of the population buying suits, i would actively discourage going bespoke and sticking to made to measure. It's only worthwhile if you really know what your doing, have the spare time and the money to mind if it doest go right.

Why do you like center vent more than side vents on sport coats?

The center vent looks more casual. It's associated with classic, Ivy League suits from the East Coast in the states and the actitivies that are a part of that (hunting, polo, etc.). It's not a hard and fast rule, but the history does give it a more casual appearance - and a sport coat is more casual than a suit coat. All too often a double vent on a blazer can look like you're wearing your suit jacket as a sportcoat instead of an item that's specifically made as such.

Yeah, I have heard that too, and I agree.

I always like to hear where people are coming from and their theories on style.

For the record, I have sport coats with center vent and side vents too.

Ali I got the suit made on AJ. They are restricting our off post trips but I have an O6 in my pocket so I am good to go off for my last month.

It is really all personal preference.

Out of curiosity, why did you go without vents? Did you have a reasoning? Or is that just how they did it?

I think on blazers, and suits for that matter that double vents look best.

I do have a few blazers with center vents. Maybe a suit with center vent as well. I recently got rid of a bunch of suits.

I think the blazer texasmade has with no vents looks really sharp - standing up. Great for standing around the bar without your hands in your pockets. I'm in DC and wear double vented suits for work. A colleague from Kansas City was here the other day and within 2 seconds I noticed his suit was single vent. I asked him why and he did not have an answer. After the business meeting, he got up and the bottom of his suit jacket was wrinkled. My jacket looked great.

I admit that I only skimmed the thread, so I'm repeating someone just consider this an endorsement, but one interesting piece of advice that I heard is go purchase an ill-fitted suit from a thrift store. Have the suit dry cleaned, and go find out your measurements at a reputable tailor. Then pay whatever the price may be to have it tailored to your particular frame.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Question for AliB and other guys who have gotten custom suits from Kuwait, the ME, SEA, or anywhere else for that matter. Let's say I find pictures of suits online that I would like made for myself. Is it realistic to expect them to track down the type of materials/colors that I request with a short turnaround time?

First is the blazer. My next post will be the actual suit. 400 for everything. Suppose to be English cotton. A little thick. I think the material has a great feel to it.

For your build, I think you picked a good blazer and it works well because of the fit. I'm usually not a fan of the high-cut lapels, but you pull it off well.

Edit: That is not a blazer, it's a suit jacket. Buy matching pants and you have an ensemble that looks great.

I'm planning a Latin America trip for 2016, with a focus of the trip being to pick up some custom suits. Where have you guys gone to get measured down and suited up??? Of course quality is the top priority, but I'm looking to keep the price reasonable as well.

I'm open to all Spanish speaking countries

Anyone here ever order a custom suit online from vietnam? This website looks pretty good, and it apparently has high end fabrics like cashmere/silk/etc to choose from. I'm tempted to take a shot and buy a few, but I'd rather not throw away money if someone has had bad experiences with these places.
