It is difficult to describe the level of distrust (and outright fear) of the GOP that exists in the Black American community. Most of that distrust is well earned, but I don't think much of this criticism ("old hag") is warranted.

I'm not surprised by it, though. She may have been better served by keeping her thoughts to herself (she knew this was coming), though I'm sure the publicity isn't unwelcome on her end.

It also seems that the young black/latinas in Hollywood don't hit the party scene very hard either, which also keeps you looking good into middle age. I don't recall ever reading about one of them trainwrecking the way the Lindsay Lohan, Tara Reid, etc. have.

Yes. This may not be a publicity stunt, but if it is, it's genius. It has the whiff of the kind of artificial controversies that Ryan Holiday writes about in his recent book "Trust Me, I'm Lying". For all we know, the original hateful tweets could have been planted.

I always laugh when minorities act like you're selling out because of your political views. Yeah, I'm sure Democrats and liberals really care a lot more about poor minorities than Republicans lol.

One thing that I'm so sick of is the idea of "voting against your interests" idea. Democracy is supposed to be about supporting what makes for the best society and for your ideals, not voting for the guy who promises to give you the most goodies.

Like Churchill, I don't know what's better, but I'm wondering how long a large, diverse democracy can last. You start with a pretty robust set of checks and balances, but over time people just find a way to vote those out of existence. I guess it could be worse and I could live in Venezuela.

Oh yeah, this will totally resuscitate her acting career. Hollywood is so conservative she'll have her choice of great roles. It's probably more the fact that her career is mostly over that she feels free to speak her mind.

It's always enlightening to see how the party of tolerance reacts when someone dares to go against the herd. Ever read the comments on Roissy's blog and feel sick at the mindless hate on display? That's how I felt reading the garbage people posted about her. The hypocrisy is astounding.

The irony is that the it was a Republican whom granted Slaves freedom.

The Democrats sold out on Black people long ago but yet they still cling to the party like glue. For the majority of blacks outside of the south both parties didn't really give them a fair shake but neither really did them dirty. The experiences of Black hostility towards the Republicans is only a Southern example. Where were blacks when Boston Democrats rallied to keep schools segregated? My point exactly. If Black people held both parties to the same scrutiny they would realize both parties don;t give a fuck about them. Another example is The Left Liberal idea of Pro-choice which is leading the so many Black babies begin aborted, at a rate of 51% that now Black people can;t even maintain a positive birth rate and declining in numbers. Ask any Black Liberal to look at that issue critically and they will blindly scoff at you.

In the history of the experiences both sides are at fault but what Blacks don't get that its that we are just begin used as pawns in this. They exploit Blacks (the left) just as much as the Republicans exploit poor rural whites. The idea was to never let the factions bridge a mutual partnership to develop a true working class party in the state or a third-way, and actual wedge that would fluctuate each time and be a true opposition whiten Congress. In Canada the struggles of the mid-century eventually gave rise to the working class NDP and even though it was born out of radical socialist ashes from prior parties it largely made a solid block that bedrock was representing the working class. Now the Party forms the official opposition after spending decades as a margin party or at times as a solid vote wedge whiten the Parliament. This is something they try desperately to never let form in the States.

Some celebrities are not left wing like Schwarzenegger and John Wayne for example.

As for a white man caring about others (black) in this context you are right. Why should he? He will only care if he can get something from you in return. Same goes with any color and race a person may be. Heck, even sex too.

Reading this forum, and through my travels I believe that nobody cares for anybody genuinely. (families excluded). Everybody looks after their own interests followed by their own kind of people etc and down the list it goes. Sorry for being cynical but you have to look after your needs because the world can be a cruel place. It definitely isn't a utopia of cumbaya singing people.

I don't know if I believe that. Describe genuine care. If you truly believe that, how can you have trust in humanity? Living life without believing in care is just a listless life and akin to a sociopath.

Very few people are saints, so I am cynical. My mind is clouded being here in the middle east too. But, .n the end, everybody looks after their own interests first. To relate it to this thread, politicians are definitely not genuine and caring for anything but their own interests. It's in a political context Moma. I don't have trust in humanity because look who is leading humanity....As for caring, we all care for something. I care for my interests.
