China's Leftover Women
I didn't see a thread about this NYTimes article yet, but it has some great quotes from the Communist Party Women's Federation.
For example:
Quote:When holding out for a man, if you say he must be rich and brilliant, romantic and hardworking ... this is just being willful. Does this kind of perfect man exist? Maybe he does exist, but why on earth would he want to marry you?
I'm curious if this is promoted very much there or not. It'd be interesting to see if it had some kind of effect on women's choices.

RE: China's Leftover Women
The "What do YOU bring to the table?" question is the most difficult for American women to answer.
"The best kind of pride is that which compels a man to do his best when no one is watching."

RE: China's Leftover Women
Seriously, how dumb is this chick? I imagine she's probably ugly but just how fucking stupid do you have to be to be on Chinese soil and attacking their government policy in an internationally-read newspaper?
I have never said one bad thing, even in person, about the Chinese government, why?
1) What are they doing to me personally? Jack shit, that's what, I'm a guest in their country, that means to a certain degree I have to play ball and that's fine.
2) I don't want to get deported (the CCP does not suffer foreigners raising questions about them).
I hope that this broad gets jailed, though a deportation is a far more likely situation (if anything happens at all).
As for the 'Are Chinese guys beta?' argument; by our standards, yes, extremely so...but understand that Chinese women have been wired to respond to different buttons than their she-beast American counterparts; stability, earning potential and family reputation are all more important than 'the pussy wants what it wants' and 'he has a badass motorcycle!'.

Here's an article from the Economist about that point. http://www.economist.com/node/21553056

China is pretty similar to most Asian countries. Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Korea all are all fighting for the lowest birth rates in the world and Japan isn't doing much better. All the Asian women are marrying later and later and expecting more and more from their guys. The gender ratios from selective abortion aren't helping either and are probably what's driving the increased expectations.
But, the guys are partly to blame too, they're massive betas. My gf tells me her friends in Taiwan would dress up to go to clubs and no local guys would hit on them. Only the foreigners and American Born Chinese (ABC's) would be hitting on the girls.
At least state shaming is a start but I believe that the government needs to teach game and have everyone registered on a single's list so you know which girls are just fucking around "dating".
The Economist was until very recently telling its readers that Russia was in the midst of a catastrophic population decline as a result of falling birth rates and emigration. Well, Russia's fertility rates have increased in recent years and the country looks like it's about to start growing again in absolute terms. Strangely, they haven't seen fit to report this new trend.
The moral is, the Western media loves telling gloom and doom stories about non-Western countries.
Yes, Russia has improved to now being only slightly better than Japan, Italy, and Germany. Congrats.

Ehh? The Economist article is very to the point and describes their situation accurately. It's the last magazine I would put in the same box as general western media. Check the below graph, it details Russian population.
As you can see the current rise in Russian population is not yet anything significant on a macro-scale. Statistically speaking the growth rate is still stagnant.

On that chart it's interesting to see how Russia's falling birth rate started shortly after the introduction of democracy. What a great testament for the contemporary western civilization: struggling to find jobs, chasing a career, getting deeply indebted, overloading on beer and nachos, shopping for useless crap, watching soap operas on tv, riding a cock carousel, postponing marriage, facebooking, etc.

A stagnant population is a major improvement from a declining one, which Russia was experiencing until recently. Russia's population was falling for about twenty years and suddenly that process has been arrested - that's a major achievement in itself. Bear in mind that almost the entire Western media was projecting that decline to continue for decades to come until Russia was emptied of its people and its Siberian East was gradually colonized by the Chinese.
Russia has experienced declining mortality rates across the board since at least 2000 and total fertility rates have increased (albeit starting from extremely low sub-replacement levels). So, Russia may well see population growth in coming years.
In any event, after the Western media exaggerated Russian woes, their predictions about China's demography deserve to be scrutinized.
