How many pairs of shoes do you travel with?
I think I'm a woman in this regard:

1 pair New Balance sneakers (daily walker, gym)
1 pair casual shoes like Diesel (for going to bars)
1 pair dress boots (for dressing up, clubs)
1 pair slippers (for the home)

And if I'm going to a winter location..

1 pair utility boots (in case of snow)

RE: How many pairs of shoes do you travel with?
I just finished packing for a few months of travel. Limiting myself to one carry-on bag, so I can only bring two pairs:

1 waterproof, but stylish and comfortable, boot (cold/bad weather and everyday use)
1 merrell trail glove (good for the gym, everyday walking). I use the trail gloves as a combination of sneakers/casual shoes. My primary shoe in the states.

RE: How many pairs of shoes do you travel with?
I limit myself to just these: flip flops (for inside my flat), sneakers, & dressy shoes. To keep my luggage light, my sneakers are ultra light and my dress shoes are also light, even though I usually travel with wearing the dress shoes. BTW, I dress in casual business attire when travelling, doing so helps me cruise through immigration and customs.

Boots would be very nice for winter locations, but not really required in my opinion. Boots are hugely heavy and space consuming. If I absolutely had to bring them, I'd probably wear them while travelling to make my luggage lighter.

International flights to/from the USA allow for two checkin bags, but most other travel does not. So I limit myself to one checkin bag @ 20 kg, plus carry on.

Nice breakdown. You got me rethinking the boots. I found something a little lighter and lower profile that can be worn everyday and look nice (but also comfortable), but they are still a pain in the ass. I might substitute for a nice pair of brown leather slip-ons that I have. Rainy weather be damned!

2. I never check anything in.

Pair of shoes that I can wear with anything and get into clubs, casual wear, hiking, etc....usually they are a pair of Prada sneakers which dress up..other times its a pair of boat shoes style sneakers ( I get them from http://www.oakstreetbootmakers.com ). and a pair flip flops for the beach/pool/whatever.

Sometimes I bring a pair of New Balance Minimus which are meant to be worn without socks and are ultralight. Depends on what I'll be doing.

Flip Flops and Air Force Ones

I limit myself to one carry on backpack though.

I also use a locking cable to just hang my flip flops on the outside of my bag while im wearing my shoes so I dont use up inside space.

Currently in Europe:

- Pair of Air Jordans for daily walking
- Pair of nice dress shoes
- Sandals

Haven't used the sandals once, too cold.

Currently:

2 pr Nasons
1 pr flip-flops
1 pr Sanuks

Would have packed Vibram 5 fingers but didn't buy another pr in time. Those and the Sanuks are light and take up minimum space.

RE: How many pairs of shoes do you travel with?
I have a foot fetish too. My inner game lacks when my shoes don't match the situation I'm in.

Boots are a must.
Stylish, yet comfortable daytime shoes are a must. Think onitsuka tigers.
Dressed shoes are a must. Really enjoying wing tips right now.
In the summer, leather loafers or driving shoes get it done. I used to rock the boat shoes, but foreign women love the class of leather loafers and think that boat shoes are cheap.
Flip flops for the beach or place I'm living in.

HAHA - I chose my suitcase / back pack for this reason.
1 dress white
1 dress cubanos
1 dress traditional
1 gym shoes
1 flipflop
and, if in Winter - kick ass boots.

I go heavy on accessories but wear basics for redundancy and look control.

RE: How many pairs of shoes do you travel with?
I bring 1 or 2 pairs pants(jeans/dressed), a few whites, a few t-shirts, 2 dressed shirts, 2 pairs of workout shorts, and the rest is shoes.

I'm very much into wearing the same shit that I know looks money.

If a girl I see a few times asks why I have a limited wardrobe, I reply by telling her if she doesn't like the look then she should go find a guy with better style. Laughter and a fat kiss quickly proceeds after.

RE: How many pairs of shoes do you travel with?
I usually travel with three to four depending on the situation.

1 pair of Nike cross trainers for workouts

1 pair of tan colored Air Madison Wingtip Oxfords by Cole Haan (http://www.colehaan.com/colehaan/catalog...p=528743). Very versatile shoe. Can wear it out to clubs/bars but it's also flexible enough for walking the city streets. I don't dress down so it's a good look for me.

1 pair of black loafers. Many brands you can go with but loafers are great for both walking and going out to venues. A lot of times when you're exploring a city you don't know what could happen or how your day might develop so I really stress traveling with shoes that have multi-purpose use.

If I'm going to a beach or tropical environment I will bring sandals as well.

RE: How many pairs of shoes do you travel with?
I travel with one pair of casual shoes (Cole Haan Air Ventura Sport - it actually passes for a dress shoe, but has the Nike Air soles so they are good for walking), and a pair of sneakers on my feet. If I'm going to a beach location, I'll have some soccer slides also. I tend not to wear slippers or anything on my feet indoors other than socks, so I may carry some of those footie socks for that. I'll only wear those if it's cold in the room.

I got a pair of Vibram Four Fingers. They're good for workouts and for walking. And the pair only take up about as much space as half a regular sneaker.

One pair of low-cut featureless jet black sneakers. Can serve a dual purpose of working out and outdoors activity. Can also be cleaned up and worn with jeans to somewhere casual and not look strange. Like this, but without a big logo:

One pair of casual shoes, dark burgundy. Similar to:

A pair of cheap rubber quick drying flipflops for lounging or times I've stayed in hostels and don't want my feet on the bathroom floor.

Maybe a pair of more decent sandals to wear with shorts or the beach. That's about it.

Those shoes are a similar style to the Cole Haans I sport. And for sneakers, it's those plain Adidas Stan Smiths (I have them in both black and white).

Hmm..surprised so many of you wear slippers inside the house. I just wear socks or go barefoot. Is this a cultural thing?
