Anyone know any good brands that sell shirts and pants cut for guys that are in shape? I need to pick up a few things on a budget and I'm tired of having to get shirts tailored to remove that fat pouch they put in the stomachs of American shirts now.

Express sells some good fitted dress shirts.

For casual shirts look online for the size fitted or athletic fit.

Pants look for slim fits.

I've got the same problem, I have broad shoulders and a small waist from working out.

Best bet is to go somewhere like Zara, where the general fit is good. There will still be some spare material, so just take em down your local dry cleaners where they will usually offer an alteration service for £10 a shirt or something like that.

It's not quite as good as getting hand-tailored clothes, but it's the next best thing.

Fitted v-necks which stretch to your body are key if you are indeed in good shape. The problem with clothing is magnified for average to below average height men who work out.

A & F, Hollister, etc. are brands for kids and young adults. Thats not the stuff a playboy over 21 wears. Wear dress shirts and they can be stylish not just plain coloured ones if your not under 21 and get them tailored. Thats the best advice I can give you on that matter. I can't fit clothing well whatsoever and I'm not all that large so for the true meat heads here I can imagine this is a giant problem.

Edit: didn't see you were on a budget and not after dress shirts. I guess Zara could be decent, Guess or H & M. Not really places I'd heavily recommend. But on a budget and assuming your a younger guy thats fine.

Second A&F. Their jeans and shirts are made for normal people. I really like the fit of the jeans, and you can find button downs or polos that aren't too preppy. For t-shirts Old Navy has cheap v-necks that are really soft and fit really well.

For the record I'm 5'11" 170 lb with broad shoulders and a small waist as well.

I've mentioned this on another thread, but Hugo Boss slim fits are great with no need for alterations. I had actually put one shirt in the dryer by mistake when I was back in the States. Then decided to take a shoewr with it on to stretch it a little(100% cotton of course), then hang dry. It now fits me like a glove, not too tight and any prevoius loose areas shrunken when I had put it in the dryer.

Also for V-Neck T-shirts, Target, of all places, has those 100% cotton mossimo athletic fits that are great, which you can get for a pittance. Make sure they are the athletic fits. Good Luck!

H&M for dress pants if you're under 6 feet. they dont make anything for tall guys.
Zara has a lot more options for the taller man.

Any Italian clothes are generally slimmer. When I had weight on, I used to wear Hilfiger, Lacoste, Joop and similar stuff.
