What bothers me more is that it would be seen by society as OK if her fiance came round and beat you up and she would get away scott-free. Despite the fact you were completely unaware of his existence. Of course, he'd take her back though when she stated this magical sentence:

What likely happened is that she either caught him cheating, or had a strong suspicion that he was cheating.

This allows her to rationalize that she can cheat, too. And not only that she can cheat, but that she should cheat as a way of "getting back" at him.

I've seen this firsthand. I was banging this girl who had a boyfriend she was in the process of breaking things off with.
