Ok guys, we all know that the best you can have is a flat in the city's nightlife hot spot but, here is my situation:

I live in a cool place right now, really close to the nightlife, not walking distance but really close, the thing is that I work in finance at the business district and I am from monday to friday 9am to 11pm at the office, saturday half day or from home, so my ONLY going out night is saturday night.

Right now I drive for almost two hours DAILY, 1:30 in the morning and 30min at night to get to the office.

Would you move to a flat 10min distance from work? And saturday night take a cab to the nightlife zone (20min) or move to the nightlife zone and waste 2hours of your life sitting in a car.

Move. Spending over 500 hours/year commuting just to avoid a 20 minute cab ride? And then there is the financial cost of drive, parking, etc.

Two cribs.

One close to work during the week.

And one close to nightlife for Saturday night.

Get some friends to go in on the "party crib" to defray costs if need be.

I'd quit my job if I had to work those hours, or have a mental breakdown. Moving closer would mean you'd probably commit even more to your work. Might as well move into your office with hours like that bars!

Time is everything. Agree with everyone else. Move near your work, have a second place or just pay for rooms on weekends. Two hours driving each day isn't sustainable. That's 10 hours of potential gym time, reading, planning, strategizing, swooping, or even sleeping that you're missing out on.
