The Extra-Long Straw Game

I recently tried The Extra-Long Straw Game for the first time, so I wanted to post up a thread with my experience.

The Game: You take a long straw (3 normal straws inserted into one another), and as you wander around a bar/club/house party, you drink out of a girls drink from a short distance.

That is your opener.

I opened a lot of girls using this method, so I was more in experimental mode than anything. I tried different variations of the approach: in one instance, my friend would walk up to the girl and open her in a normal way to ensure her distraction. Then I would approach from the other side (out of her sight) and start drinking her drink. The girl would turn toward me, and my friend would bail, since I now had her full attention.

Often I would just stick my straw into a girls drink on my own, without a wingman, and let things play out from there.

Results: Mixed, but hilarious. Some girls FREAKED the fuck out on me. But many laughed and had huge smiles on their face, and many were so thrown off they had no clue what to do. Almost all of the girls feigned anger and grabbed my straw right away to take it apart, throw it on the ground, or just hold it away from me; so I learned to keep extra straws in my pocket.

Regardless, and for better or worse, 100% of the girls I tried this on turned to face me and engage me. So in my eyes, it is the most successful opener I’ve tried. I have never made so many hamsters spin in so short a time.


Pros: 

• Starts an incredibly playful/mischievous interaction right off the bat.
• Approach anxiety was non-existent, since I didn’t have to say anything to the girl. In fact, she was the first to talk in most of the encounters. 
• Girls that rejected me looked like uptight bores, since I was clearly a fun, cool guy that doesn't stress about trying to impress a girl. This caused my confidence to skyrocket to never before seen heights. It created enormous momentum for me.
• Ability to open/approach any girl, regardless of their configuration. Girls that were sitting down were almost easier to approach with this method, as were girls in groups, etc. It allowed me to open girls that would normally be very difficult to approach.
• Can be used to flirt with girls already in your social circle.
  

Cons:

• Difficult to maintain attention/transition after high-energy opener, especially later into the night when girls were drunk.
• The girls that freaked out, freaked out hard. One girl pushed me, one started drunk shouting, another threw her drink in my face. Good thing I was laughing too hard to care.
• All the girls wanted to “figure me out” after the approach, and I eventually realized some were not attracted to me, and if I had used a vocal opener on her, she would have quickly rejected me. Corollary: my game needs further development.
• This approach attracts a lot of attention; not always a good thing. We burned through bars quickly.
• Requires higher than average energy level. 
  

Tips:

• The more crowded the venue, the better. If you get blown out, you’ll want to move on quickly.
• The hotter the girl, the better this worked. Merely “cute” girls knew I was using them as an experiment, and that I normally wouldn’t have approached them. This seemed to upset them.
  

Overall: The Extra-Long Straw Game is a new favorite of mine. It provided for one of the most fun nights out I’ve had in a long time, and I still haven’t stopped laughing from some of the reactions I got. It put me in a great mood, and I plan to try this game again in the future.

Excellent funny-game opener. I only did it once when my goofy sister in law was fucking around at a pub. It was probably a month after I returned from a second stint in Colombia (Medellin, Cali). I did it to one person and we all had a laugh before I sat down and tried it on a second girl sitting with a group. She confronted me and we laughed before she started talking and I found out she was a Paisa studying entering the same line of work as myself. One weekend later I did the bang.

Extra Long Straw has not been used since...

This works if you are really good looking. Ugly guys' mouths connecting to the liquid they are supposed to drink after him (even through a really long straw) is unique, but it creeps the fuck out of most girls.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Depends on the vibe and timing at different bars, but I feel like this would freak most girls out in a bar. Girls freak just from you opening her by touching their back when they're turned around.

@MrXY & @Roosh: Agreed - this is not something I'd rush to try at a high-end venue, unless the vibe was right. My experiment was done in an area of town with a lot of college type bars.

@Neil Skywalker: I had the same feeling when I first read about this game. A few weeks later I was out, and the idea just popped back into my head. I wouldn't use it just anywhere or anytime, but when the conditions are right, I think this game is effective.

Mostly fries and stuff. Not like an already eaten sandwich.
