Anyone ever heard of this guy Robert Swift who played a few seasons for the Seattle Supersonics and ended up being a major bust? I don't really follow sports so I never heard of the guy, but apparently he was drafted with the 12th pick in the first round of the NBA draft back in 2004, and signed a 20 million dollar contract.

I got to say I like reading feel good stories about someone going from rags to riches, but another part of me likes to read stories like this, where someone has the world and loses it all. It's a good cautionary tale, but also helps me keep things in my own life in perspective.

Recently I feel like I slipped into a mini-depression, I am almost 30, my once lucrative business is slipping hard, and I'm at sort of a crossroads in my life. In many ways I don't know what the hell I'm going to do with my future, and it's frustrating.

Today I read this article about this dude Robert Swift, and it helps put everything into perspective in a way. As much as I try not to take pleasure in others misfortunes, I can only imagine what it must be like for someone like him to have squandered $20 million dollars. This guy must be feeling what I feel times 20 million.

I hate to say it though, but I really feel no sympathy for people that were given an amazing gift or blessing, and made tons of money, only to lose it all due to their own stupidity.
