RE: Do you agree or disagree with Vladimir Putin?
I admire him for being honest but where is the line between adhering to one's tradition and cultural values and PREVENTING immigrants from being able to integrate into the country?

I believe France is like this but I have friends in France who are minorities and enjoy a second class citizen status due to these proposed ideals.

Interesting one for discussion though...

Vladimir Putin is one of the better world leaders today. Possibly the best. I do not doubt that he is corrupt and has done a lot of unsavory things, but he has improved Russia and has a no-nonsense focus on his own country, instead of wringing his hands about supposed human-rights violations on the other side of the planet. These are good traits to have in the leader of one's country.

Whatever realities exist in Russia don't necessarily apply to every country, so I guess it depends. Every nation has a different relationship to its "minority" races and cultures.

What I don't agree with is a white-supremacist group selectively lifting that message and waving it as a celebratory banner for a global "white race."

Boris Berezovsky - Be interesting to see what he has died of today....being an enemy of Putin and following on from Litvichenko who was poisoned to death on the streets of London.

I generally prefer the company of immigrants over my fellow countrymen, but I also agree that for people wanting to relocate and live in a better place, there must be an amount of assimilation on their parts.

As far as the immigrants wanting to practice Sharia law. That should not be tolerated if it interferes with the law of the land.

RE: Do you agree or disagree with Vladimir Putin?
I don't have any problem with him wanting to preserve Russian culture and demand that people assimilate. I think we can also surmise from his language that he doesn't think much of people who look like me. Hmm..."lack of culture and primitive ways of most minorities". And then uses the USA as an example of "suicide". He's entitled to his opinion, but I think I know how he feels toward non-whites. This view is probably the norm in Russia and one reason why I don't see myself ever visiting there. I feel bad for the small minority of African students living in Moscow who have to endure constant threats from skinhead attacks and racist cops.

edit--

Roosh would be considered "black" in Russia. People with middle-eastern, south Asian or Caucasus origins are labeled "blacks" and they are targets of skinheads too. I guess black in their case refers to their hair and eye color.

I think on face value I think it's right on the mark, and I think it's refreshing for a leader to be honest and take a stand. Whereas in Europe the political ruling classes are riding on the EU gravy train and will not listen to the wishes or the concerns of the people.

However it does seem to have an undertone of hostility to other ethnicities - 'primitive ways of most minorities.'

Agree here. He had me until those words.

I really appreciate his firmness though. At this point, I feel most countries could be compared to a company. "This is how we do things here. If you don't like it, that's fine, but noone is forcing you to work here. You want the paycheck? You want to work here? You follow our rules."

Weak management does not produce profitable corporations. Or countries.

RE: Do you agree or disagree with Vladimir Putin?
The part about obeying laws and no special privileges, yes.

It reminds me of when some Americans start hyperventilating when the word "assimilation" is used.
But this generally referred to 3 basic rules of the social contract for immigrants:

1. Obey the law.
2. Learn the language.
3. Support yourself/family.

In other words, "When in Rome..."

I think the 3 rules are reasonable, no matter what country I'd be moving to.

The US "failure" is mixed (cheap labor, but narco wars, etc) but the real shame is the UK, where third worlders are invited in straight on the dole, starting the cycle of dependency. And if native Britons criticise this, they get called "racists." In the long run, economically and socially speaking, this will be lose/lose.

Regardless of whether Putin actually said the quote that Roosh posted, I find it interesting that anti-immigrant fervor is spreading throughout Europe. In many European countries there are actually right-wing, anti-immigrant parties that have some seats in parliament, and as economic woes for certain European countries get worse, there will be even more anti-immigrant fervor.

RE: Do you agree or disagree with Vladimir Putin?
First of all, I guess anybody making an opinion on Putin's speech must explain what he understands about such speech. It's clear that Putin's target was Islam and its adherents. Now, regardeless what your opinion is about Islam (good or bad), it's clear that Islam is an OPEN AND UNAPOLOGETICALLY POLITICAL RELIGION; that is, Islam openly and vigorously tries to influence politics through the State. Its main goal is to turn every state into a Sharia Law Ruled Country. This characteristic goes against the very core of modern secular republican states in Western Europe, the USA and most of the West. As for Russia, whose soul is still Christian Orthodox, the secular Communist system is still pretty much alive and in direct colition course with Islamism.
Yes, I agree with comrade Putin!

In history, nationalism and anti-immigration is common during economic hard times when the natives feel like they are losing out. Someone has to take the blame, and it's easier to blame immigrants they see in their neighborhood than forces like globalization that they can't see or understand.

When natives ARE losing out... When they don't find (social) housing or jobs anymore, when streets are unsafe and the majority of criminals are immigrants of first or second generation (in France, 75% of prisoners are muslim). And most importantly, when, in Europe, immigrants come for the money but hate local culture and people (unlike immigrants in America who usually want to integrate and live the "American dream". Or at least they used to).

Precisely.

It's easy to say "well, in economic downturns anti-immigrant sentiment always goes up." But, in today's situation, we have something quite unparalleled, in that most of the Western countries are letting immigrants in on a massive scale, and do not believe in their own culture enough to assert it. Consequently, Western Europe is becoming Muslim quite rapidly. This creates rather large social friction, which makes the economic downturn => 'down with immigrants' reaction that much stronger. Joe on the street is inevitably going to be upset when his neighbors are no longer speaking his language or sharing his general beliefs and worldview. He's going to be more upset when times are tough and the government gives them houses, cars, food, and smartphones while he has to earn a lot of money to buy the same things.

Not letting minorities gain special privileges that put them above the law, privileging them in comparison to other citizens: Right

To expect that any citizen who permanently lives in a given country learns the national language, pays his taxes and fullfills his obligations: Right

Creating a caste of first class citizens purely based on origin: Wrong

Openly defending your citizen's and country's interests: Right

Proclaiming pseudo-fascist racial populism in order to strengthen your grip on power: Wrong

Claiming any country must become homogeneous: Bullshit (and also impossible, especially in the 21st century).

Claiming the world's biggest country, historically populated by tens of different peoples stretching over two continents and ten time zones, must become homogeneous: A lot of Bullshit

To prohibit Sharia Law (or any religious legal supremacy): Very good idea.

RE: Do you agree or disagree with Vladimir Putin?
I think what Putin's message of the "suicide of the US, UK and other countries was referring more to the advances of such unsavory and healthy ideologies such as feminism, PC, gays and lesbians groups having so much power that in a lot of ways, they have more rights and privileges than the normal non special groups. And we can all attest to the fact that these ideologies are a major if not principal factor of the decline of morals, traditions and increasingly toxic environment to live and work as a male but also as a general rule.

When you look at the countries he mentioned and you see the damage these ideologies have done to the population and the environment and the laws that reflect that fucked up societal climate there, it's easy to understand why he doesn't want that to happen to his country. Russia has always been a very proud and traditional country with a long history. Thankfully, traditions, culture and other things that form the basic foundations of a healthy culture/country are still respected and work such as family, marriage and respect to elderly people.

Moma, the problem with France and I speak from first hand personal experience, is that a lot of these immigrants that come to France, they do not do any effort to integrate into the local culture, environment and behave as if they were still living in their village in their 3rd world country with their regressive behaviours and without any concern or respect to the local traditions, laws and ways of doing things. Not only that, they've also been abusing and scamming the system for decades so the frustration and anger of the French people towards these parasites is understandable to say the least. So the reason a lot of these people are being treated as a lower class citizens is as a result of decades of them abusing the French and their generosity and of abusing the system.

Of course, not all immigrants are like that and thank God, and it's not fair for the other immigrants who are doing an honest effort in integrating into the host country by being productive and law abidit citizens, however, the bad apples have been abusing the system and the French for so long that that they've got to a point where they won't take it anymore. And as a result, they're very skeptical of immigrants, specially from certain parts of the world.

I mean it's not difficult to understand that when you go to someone else's house for example, you show respect to the person and respect their rules, behave as a civilised human being, not be rude and trying to impose your views on to your hosts. Same principle applies when someone immigrates to another country. As simple as that.

Unfortunately, I'm seeing the same here in Canada where a lot of the immigrants make no effort at all to adapt or integrate into the host country and live in the same backward way than they were doing in their shit hole. And they demand more and more concessions for their special needs while milking the system if not out right scamming it and abusing the hosts' generosity.

When I moved to Canada, I had to learn English and respect the local laws, values and culture. When I will move to China at the end of the year, the first thing I will do is learn the language and as much as I can about the local culture. I will do everything I can to be respectful to my hosts and their culture and values. Simple common sense things like that, are an example of things that they should even be needed to be mentioned as they are just obvious things, but yet many of these immigrants, or rather, parasites, fail to do.

I'm glad that Immigration Canada are taking steps towards moving from an open immigration policy where everyone could come to Canada to a more selective immigration where only those who can contribute to the country and economy can come. As a result of the former immigration policy, a lot and I want to emphasize on a LOT of shitty people have been let into Canada, where they've been leaching off the system, making it harder for the rest of us, honest immigrants by having us, tax payers pay for their social benefits while they laze at home and work under the table in cash jobs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a racist, extremist nor a white supremacist kind of person, quite the opposite. I'm all for giving everyone a fair chance at bettering their lives specially those from a more modest background. However, when these leaches and parasites come here and they start not only demanding they be treated fairly and respected while they have no concern in return for the locals. And on top of that, they start to impose their own retarded and regressive way of living and thinking towards the rest of population by way of their special interest lobbying, then that's when it becomes unacceptable.

Mad respect for Putin for not letting these non sensical "ideologies" poison his country and making sure that the immigrants, while welcome to live and work there, must respect their culture, ways of doing and assimilate into the local culture. He is as close to an ideal leader of a country as it gets. I would lead exactly like he is doing.
