Is there mysterious cultural code known only to adepts of the genre that demand this mofo reveal his manboobs?

I've seen the strip club rain thing explained as a tax deductible biz decision. What were its TRUE origins? I'm looking for explanations as to how showering cash on some seriously skid marked hoes became de rigeur in ©rap videos.



I've long had my suspicions about this music form-please enlighten me.

I don't get Jay-z. He looks like the incredible Hulk, has no flow (3 word sentences?) and his voice doesn't seem to match his body. I think he does shots of helium before he performs. I prefer busta rhymes and coolio for higher quality crap.

Rap only makes sense if you can relate to the lyrics. My niggas play Ross and Wayne religiously. It's because we can relate to the culture. Same reason I don't like certain genres , it's because I have no relation to the music I don't feel it.

As far as showering cash it's just a display of wealth like takin out your 12 inch cock or parking your Lamborghini in the front of a venue. or wearing tight jeans that show your dick print , or wearing a speedo if you have a big dick

Hip Hop has the most red pill subject matter of any genre as a whole in my opinion though you could make an argument for rock.

Rap culture and all the races co-opting it is definitely one huge reason for the degradation of America.

This culture was part of what made South Beach unbearable at times. I like rap music, not Rick Ross or Lil Wayne, but more of the stuff you don't hear on the radio or stuff you would hear in the 90s on the radio. I will admit some of the rappers I listen to are into this kind of culture, but I just listen for the music, not the culture.

Rick Ross is a whack ass poseur, dude can't rap for shit, mainstream music sucks in general. I like straight up gangster rap, and I don't give a fuck if some conservative white dude thinks it's cultural appropriation or whatever, or it's stupid that someone not from the inner city ghetto would like it.

I dig it because the beats slap hard, the lyrics are raw, the shit has mad strong energy, and it just makes my head nod, and puts me in a pumped up mood. A lot of the music is about hustling on some underground economy shit, so I get how a lot of 9-5'ers wouldn't be feeling it or relating to it.

For guys wanting to check out good gangster rap, I recommend UGK's work, especially the Dirty Money and self titled albums. Aside from UGK, 8Ball and MJG's "On Top of the World" is classic. Three Six Mafia has some good shit, and I shouldn't even have to mention Tupac's All Eyez on Me, but maybe some of you younger cats need to check it, if you haven't already.

Good music taste dude. Twista, Three Six Mafia, and UGK. Obviously All Eyes On Me, one of the best rap albums ever produced. I like gangsta shit too and I'm a white boy. Mr. Pookie is ill, he was like 16 or something when he made this CD. I hear it's all freestyle but I can't confirm that...

I think we have to first get rid of the notion that you MUST come from a certain economic background to listen to hip-hop/rap. Many of us listen to rap for the lyrical content and the delivery of the lyrical content as much as the actual music production itself. My upbringing relates to nothing that much of the gangster songs as I was an African-American raised in the suburbs in a 2-parent home with a father who paid for most of my college expenses.

Still, there has always been hip-hop/rap that did not talk about the gangster/thug/make money lifestyle....but that is not was sells to the sheep masses. Even when Tupac was big, I did not rank him as high as many others. While I can understand that his lyrics can relate and even inspire many minorities who did not have a similar upbringing as my own, he really did not say anything special that was not already said to me from my parents. As a result, I gravitated (and sorely miss) songs from the likes of Public Enemy, KRS-One, etc. Of course when I wanted to get riled up, I wanted some Mobb Deep or other gangster songs but those songs were NEVER going to influence me.

Any of you guys ever hear of Jon Connor from Flint, Michigan? A friend of mine started posting some of his videos on facebook a few months ago and I think his songs are pretty good, reminds me of the hip hop and rap I liked so much in the 90's. Can't say I've been a big fan of the rap coming out in the past 10-15 years.

as an African American and a teen it's still what I listen too. It's the music that is played at college parties of this generation so it's basically what I grew into that's the difference. You don't have to be from the ghetto to like rap. Most rappers are just studio gangsters anyways I like the vibes of the music and the lyrics are just kept simple. I don't look to music. For knowledge, as I read enough. I look for music as more of an escape.
