Definitely one of the more freak and gruesome injuries you can see in a basketball game, happens somewhat more frequently in football.It reminds me of South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore leg injury last season in college football. The good news is that it's not as bad as looks and a few players have come back from such an injury(in football at least).

goddamn Ware's injury was tough to watch. I can't imagine any guy who's ever played a team sport not getting a little choked up watching the other players' reactions, they were literally falling to the court. Made their second half ass-kicking of duke all the sweeter.

That's strange as hell. This kind of injury is common in car crashes and massive force, not basketball. Makes you wonder if his leg was injured to begin with.

Doctors are now saying Ware may have had an undetected stress fracture prior to this injury.

I know next to nothing about basketball, but I know of football (soccer) players who have come back from injuries not tooooo far from this. Albeit never the same, but still at a high level.

Looks like he had successful surgery earlier this week. Doctors suspect that calcium and/or Vitamin D deficiency as well as an undetected stress fracture in his tibia caused the injury.
