"Florida country radio morning-show hosts Val St. John and Scott Fish are currently serving indefinite suspensions and possibly worse over a successful April Fools' Day prank. They told their listeners that "dihydrogen monoxide" was coming out of the taps throughout the Fort Myers area. Dihydrogen monoxide is water.

The popular deejays are mainly in all this trouble (potentially of a felony level) because their listeners panicked so much — about the molecular makeup of their drinking water, however unwittingly — that Lee County utility officials had to issue a county-wide statement calming the fears of chemistry challenged Floridians. I am glad to see that the government run school have done such a fine job at educating the population. The DA is seriously considering felony level charges based on what? If I tell a group that the sun is burning itself out and cause a mass panic can I be slapped with a felony?

Unlike those royal-pregnancy-hospital pranksters, I wouldn't put these out of their jobs. This was actually hilarious, it wasn't their fault that it was poorly understood, it was April 1st and, the most important thing -no harm was done!

Its amazing how many people fall for this common prank it has twice fooled New Zealand MPs when they tried to form a campaign to ban the “drug”..... idiots!!
