Me and a buddy are going to Costa Rica in August for 2 weeks during is r&r from being deployed in Iraq. Main focus will be doing alittle surfing, partying, and ovcourse scoring ass. We are gonna hit all the main spots so ill be able to give a damn good breakdown of the country in terms of nightlife, girls, and accommodations as well as some surfing info.

Here is out itinerary for the 2 weeks.

Day 1 - San Jose
Day 2 - Puerto Viejo
Day 3 - Puerto Viejo ( Manzinillo )
Day 4 - Puerto Viejo (maybe leave a early if we wanna move on)
Day 5 - San Jose
Day 6 - San Jose (day trip, possible night trip to Heredia)
Day 7 - Tamarindo
Day 8 - Tamarindo
Day 9 - Montezuma
Day 10 - Montezuma
Day 11 - Jaco
Day 12 - Jaco
Day 13 - San Jose
Day 14 - Fly Home

We are gonna hit ALL the main night spots including normal clubs/bars to bars/clubs/casinos that have working girls. We plan to visit the normal joints first and if we experience no luck we will go to where the semi pro's are and attempt to "shore" them or get them to leave for free. Older men ive came across online in various forums think it is impossible to get free poon at a place like Del Rey but the same thing was said in Rio at the Balcony Bar, so im confident in my abilities.

Here is a list of hot spots in San Jose that i gathered from the internet.

Normal clubs: El Pueblo, Vertigo, Jazz Club, Castros, Escuazu, La Calle de la Amargura in San Pedro near the University.

Working Girl Spots: Del Ray, Sportsman Lounge, Key Largo, Blue Marlin

If you have any info / advise to add for the trip please do as well as requests. I will be checking the forum while im there an will do a complete review of Costa Rica when i get back home on this thread.

Looks like a very solid agenda! You'll be to Costa Rica, what I am to Colombia after this trip. =)

Can't wait for your report - it's been awhile since I visited CR, but it seems nothing has really changed much.

One thing I notice about Costa Rican girls (they called themselves "TICAS") is that they are very blunt about sex. One girl in Orlando, FL during a happy hour once told me after I approached - "you're cute, I like you. Don't worry about gaming me, I'm looking for sex tonight too" Now, a red flag would indicate she is a pro - but, surprisingly she was actually not a pro, and just liked sex and was not afraid to ask for it on the spot if she likes you.

2 of my experiences with Ticas were like that. Very forthcoming.

I would look into Manuel Antonio or Punta Arenas. Manuel Antonio has alot of tourists chicks and some cute locals and the scenary is BEAUTIFUL with surfing and Punta Arenas has a big carnival (I went there in 2007) but the town itself is not spectular but has a good party scene. Can't go wrong with either or. I would avoid Jaco Beach.

Why should they skip Jaco? These guys are on R&R and Jaco has a lot of girls (mainly pro's). Secondly, Jaco is close to Manuel Antonio (day trip only) b/c there is no night life. Lastly, Jaco is now only 45 minutes away from San Jose due to a new highway that opened about four months ago. You could stay in Jaco, spend the days at the beach and then head over to San Jose to party for the night. If you don't score, you can just cab it back to Jaco ($70) so you wake up at the beach. The reason I suggest that - there is nothing to do in San Jose during the day.

Can you get pro's for free? I have in CR but they were not the hard core pro's - mainly girls who dabble in it from time to time. I don't think you can get a freebie from a hardcore pro who is pounding the pavement every night unless you pretend that you want to be her long term boyfriend sending cheques every month.

I think that is a good itinerary. I'm not a huge Puerto Viejo fan. If you want to smoke bud and hang out with rasta dudes it's a good option.

I'm a huge fan of Montezuma - lots of European birds there and not many Americans. There is no pro scene in Montezuma which I liked. I had a lot of luck there.

I hadnt thought about checking out Manuel Antonio but it seems like a must if it is within a short drive away.

Im seriously considering skipping Tamarindo because it is pretty far away from San Jose and the Jaco area. Do you think this is a good idea?

Also, is it possible to carry a smaller to medium sized suitcase from Jaco to Montezuma on a speed boat? It seems like it be a pain in the ass to get to Montezuma from Jaco on a bus.

Do not take the bus to Montezuma. It takes forever and it's a horrible road - massively uncomfortable.

The speedboat is about 25 ft. A small bag should be fine. What's funny is that often the waves are high and the boat has to let you out 50 feet from the shore - meaning you have to swim with your bag to shore.

You could skip Tamarindo and not be missing anything. It's nice but is it worth the drive considering that nothing is around it? Just stick with the beaches around Jaco as they have the best surf anyway.

I only go to Tamarindo if I want to go to Granada, Nicaragua (right by the Nicaragua border). However, Granada is a nice, cheap, cultural experience (great to go with a girlfriend) and not a good place to visit if you guys are on a party trip.

Jaco is a mediocre, crowded beach break best suited for beginners.

I would hardly call that the best surf in Costa.

Hermosa Beach which is about 5 minutes away from Jaco is world class surf. There are a lot of competitions in Hermosa. Esterillos (20 min away from Jaco) is also world class and there is not a soul around.

G Manifesto is right - Jaco is a crowded beach break. However, "crowded" in Costa Rica is a joke compared to what "crowded" is in California.

ok fellas. i arrived in san jose yest.

first impressions is the city is a shit hole, aesthetically speaking, but there is def hot girls out and about. im with my buddy and he is 6'5 and built and we were getting eye fucked walking around looking for a hotel in downtown. we got a room at this one hotel that a taxi took us to and got ripped off. def not worth 60 bucks.

it was a monday night and know one knew of a decent place to go soo we just went ahead and went to the famous del rey hotel & casino to have some drinks and hangout and girl watch. there was a good mix of girls there. we meet a canadian dude that wanted to take us to this strip joint soo we went. my buddy has been in iraq for the past 6 months and was hell bent on getting laid pro or non pro it didnt matter. well he took this hb8 colombian back to the hotel for 30 bucks. i left the strip joint and went back to the del rey to watch people gamble. i saw this cute ass tica working a table that was empty so i decided to go talk to her. long story short i got her number and we are going out dancing sat night when me and my buddy return from the caribbean beach town of puerto viejo.

well anyways im bout to go game at the san pedro mall and then go play no limit holdem at a casino to make some extra cash. updates to come.

went to puerto veijo for a couple of days. good place to stay in a hostel and meet chicks from europe. there isnt any locals there to game. the beaches of punta uva and manzinillo are amazing. id suggest getting a lil condo or house so you can invite all the tourist gils back to after the dive bar. we rented a 2 bedroom condo for 30 total and invited 4 girls from england and 3 dudes from austrailia back to party. english girls are made easy and sloppy. didnt even have to try to get my english flag lol.

came back to san jose and went out to el pueblo last night. lots of hot girls. the ratio could have been better. we left and went to the bar/club street in san pedro. this place is authentic as hell. def working class poorer people. one club i was slightly scared to go into because of the number of thuggish looking dudes. after a minute there we went to the main joint which was like a 3 story bar with music. we meet a tica and her german friend and they wanted to go back to el peublo. so we were off again. the german girl left early with her guy friend and my buddy hooked up with the tica girl.

prob gonna hit up heridia tonight. san jose is not cheap! seems like the prices here are backwards. 1 mil colones = 2 usd. cheapest food will set u back about 6 - 8 bucks. ive already spent about 900 in 6 days. granted 300 of that was lost playing poker. lol cheapest beer is an imperial which is 2 usd. locals will try and fuck you over if they know ur a tourist. cab driver last night wanted 7 mil colones for a 5 minute cab ride! we were like ur fucking crazy and i was like 3 mil colones no more but i just gave him 4 mil and told him to fuck off.

I'll be watching this thread. I never hear much about CR from a PUA perspective. Everyone seems to go there just for the beach and jungle.

Wow I guess the recession has hit San Jose hard. last time I was in San Jose back in 05',Del Rey chicas would not even look at you for less than $100 US, these were very average looking girls, There was this cute tica female with those cute back dimples, I was really tempted to pay her 150 asking fee, but I held strong.. Did you confirm if the phone number you got from the Tica was legit? I would be very impressed if you get a notch out of a Del Rey chick even if it wasn't a SNL.

no it wasnt all night. just like one bust in 30 minutes i think he said. the number was legit. and the funny thing is i saw her with her husband or bf at the mall the next night lol she was embarrassed lol.

went to a club in quepos (sp) right outside manuel antonio last night. it was pretty good. alittle bit more urban chicks with fat asses. i opened 3 ticas and a group of german and english girls. i got cocked blocked from hell from one of the ticas friend.

staying in a hostel def limits you in regards to fucking. i lost out on a sure fuck last night from a german bc of logistics. try and stay in a cheap hotel or cabina if you can.

Final Thoughts / Recap

Costa Rica is a bit to touristy for me. You need atleast 2-3 weeks based outta San Jose area to make this trip worthwhile. Dont stay in San Jose if your looking for the best value. You can get a week in a hotel in one of the outter zones for $100. Here is what id recommend. Do alot of day game around downtown around ave central during the day lots of cute honeys walking around. Lie and say you are living in CR for awhile for a job or something. There isnt alot to do at night during the week, atleast that was my impression with my little knowledge and social connections so id go to the huge mall in San Pedro and try and get some numbers and dates set up, they even have a movie theatre on the 4th floor. If your bored and have nothing to do at night during the week you can always go to the del rey or key largos even if you dont wanna p4p. You can bounce alot of the girls to other venues and set up nights to hangout and dance. You can also game the girls working the casino tables. Shoring here is VERY hard, nothing like Brazil. Although I didnt really try like I had initially planned I can just tell you its a whole other ball game in San Jose. With that said there is some REALLY good looking girls working here.

Ok during the week id suggest to take small 1-3 day trips around costa rica. Def hit up puerto viejo and take a bus to manzinillo / punta uva, beautiful beaches! The town of PV is fun too, lots of tourists to game. Also go check out Montezuma on the pacific, awesome lil town with waterfalls, nice beaches, and decent surf! For good surfers you gotta go to gunecasta area (sp).

Go to Puntarenas (sp) it is the beach all the tico/tica's go to. No tourist there. I saw a ton of fine chicks all over at this beach. You could make a day trip out of it from San Jose. Gotta to the the bus station specifically for Puntarenas.

While in San Jose hit up Heridia, I havent went but i heard alot of good things about it. Check out a soccer game there too.

As far as nightlife goes I really wasnt a fan. El Pueblo was alright but it didnt have no conventional reaggeton dance club. The music was all weird latin stuff def not mainstream. The male to female ratio was off. Id bypass el pueblo unless your going with a girl you meet and go to the other places around calle amargura in san pedro. Also castros is popular and more salsa, bachata oriented. I think your better off clubbing in the other smaller towns like heredia, liberia, quepos, ect. I had a great time at this club in quepos called la republic.

Other notes. Pangea hostel in san jose is good. cabs will lie and tell you that the place you want to stay at is booked and needs a reservation so dont listen to that bs. Also alot wont use the meter unless u make them turn it on. CR is not cheap, so budget accordingly. Del Rey has a good no limit hold'em game every night of the week (1-2 nl 100min). Good lil restaurant behind the huge costa rican bank called Mama's or something. Crime isnt as bad as you hear, we walked 4 blocks at night in downtown san jose with out any problems. There isnt alot of ppl walking around at night so if you see some guys walking or standing on a corner just take another path and avoid them. Bus system is good.

I personally thought that San Jose was too much of a shithole for me to want to spend more than a couple days there, even though it is the capital and that's where most of the hot women and nightlife is at. For me Costa Rica is more about the nature and the "pura vida" vibe that you can find in some places like Puerto Viejo/Cahuita. Certain spots like PV and Tamarindo should have enough tourist women to game, although they don't stack up to the Tica women who are definitely hot. Maybe you had some success down there, I don't speak any Spanish, and when I went I didn't even try, but I still think if a guy is going to spend 2-3 weeks in a city with the soul purpose of trying to game and bang the local women, he would be better off in Rio or Sao Paulo, or maybe Colombia (Medillin, Cali), based on what I'm hearing.

It is a shit hole imo. I agree about the nature stuff thats why i recommended trips every week to some of these cool places. For me i like a balance of women and nature / adventure. I speak very basic spanish, but with all the moving around I did I didnt have the time needed to fuck close the girls I was meeting and getting numbers from. But yea if you dont plan on seeing the country and just laying the women id suggest going to another country. You can have a great 3 week trip based out of around san jose checking out all the top spots and relaxing on a beach or surfing for 3-4 days during the week while still meeting / dating locals to conquer during the other half of the week your in san jose.. Bus system is pretty good and cheap.

you are out of your mind on the reggie stuff in el pueblo just have to know where to go... but pueblo is good on off nights and friday, other then that most of the really hot chicks dont end up there, they go to gaira or this other club I cant think of now.

Heredia is great, really cute girls, itzcazu is great area, like most countries I have been to, the hot locals dont go to the touristy spots
