Which one is the real you ?


I haven't been active in Social Media for the past 2 years or so. Graduating in 2 weeks and planning to reinvent myself and make a classy comeback on facebook & twitter in order to strengthen my social circle game.

I am a legit 8.5/10 in the mirror but in pictures i turn into a 6.5 and it is pissing me off ! In pictures I always had this constipated look that I managed to fix. Also used to look slightly tired and high.

I found out that I could avoid that by looking a bit above the camera instead of directly into it.

Any other suggestions on becoming more photogenic ?

I think I look significantly better in pictures people snap of me at random then when i'm posing or taking it myself. Just looks so much more natural.

Study male modeling poses... obviously not the ridiculous ones but it's their job to look good in pictures and there is a technique to it.

Take pictures of yourself on photobooth and see what works for you.

Similarly, practise saying lines in the mirror to see how you come across.

Actors and models do this all the time. It's not natural, it's developed.

Sometimws I picture a naked girl when people take pics of me. Or if its a girl taking the pic I picture banging her.

This isn't specific to men. I had a girlfriend with this syndrome, Bev. In person, she was so hot that guys would actually follow her around our college campus. So I didn't believe her when she warned me that she looked like crap in photos. I was like "Haha - false modesty."

One day she took me to her house and I got to see the family photos. It was hard to tell her "Um, you're right," but I didn't want to lie. Man, that was some rough stuff.

There's an art to having your picture taken. Most girls are pros at it-see the SIF phenomenon. Most guys suck at it. For instance if someone is taking a head on shot of your face you want to stick your chin out a bit. It'll accentuate your jaw line significantly.

Recently I've been screening OKC profiles for bad pictures. I've had good success going out with cute girls who suck at taking pictures of themselves. Works well for 6s and some 7s who look like 4s and 5s in their photos. You gotta know what to look for though.

Step 1 go get professional photos taken.

Step 2 never let anyone take photos of you again.

Much better to not have tons of photos of yourself plastered across the Internet/data center. Just have a few choice photos to send to girls if you need to. Then be done with it.

Or just take photos by yourself infront of a mirror for a couple of hours and figure out what angle works best for you.

Always better to avoid photos though. No point.

I used to have this problem and in all my pictures I looked clenched, uncomfortable and squinting. One solution that I've found is to not try too hard to look good in photos because if you're doing anything unnatural it really shows, whereas in a mirror you just like your normal self and aren't trying to do anything weird.

One reason I've found for this is that I'm used to looking at a reversed image of myself in the mirror. In pictures everything looks weird. My part is on the wrong side for example.

If you don't want a picture to look staged but natural, then it's better to have someone snap a pic of you while you are having a conversation or doing an activity rather than striking a pose or 'smiling for the camera'. you won't be nearly as stiff and awkward looking.

Never have your shoulders square with your face. Turn so there is an angle. On a phone or I'd write more. Google it.

I used to think about that a lot the last year. I started studying how the gestures I made affected how good I looked. Especially in photos where I looked batshit ugly. Then I started looking how I looked on a reverse online mirror because that's how people see you in real life. When you see yourself in a mirror you're are looking a "flipped" reflection of yourself. So it's inaccurate. This made me to change the side where i combed my hair too and "reverse" my facial gestures. So now I look "weird" but not ugly when I look myself on a mirror and look good on pictures. Details make the difference.

I think we tend to see ourselves differently than other see us. At the same time, some people just aren't photogenic. Have others made the same observation, that you don't look as good in pics as you do in person?

Haha yeah I think I must be one of the only people on Facebook who looks worse on their profile picture than in real life. Still though it doesn't really matter, because I try to discourage any girls I meet from adding me on Facebook, as Facebook fucks up game anyway.

I'm not photogenic at all. And no, I'm not ugly, not sure if you can really rate yourself.

But I do get looks from girls all the time.
Heck, just earlier today while sitting and eating lunch in the open near Madison Park a Spanish tourist smiled at me.

I think the best ones are taken of you doing something cool, like with a surf board(windsurf in my case), snowboard, etc.

If you're fit those are a lot better than just pics with friends at some party.

It's all about lighting though, girls are pros at getting the right filters(Instagram) and right amount of makeup to look good in pictures.

How do you guys take good mirror pics? Or selfies.

I'm in this boat, but for reasons entirely unrelated to that, I don't let people take pictures of me. Other than for a passport or a driver's license (if you even have a driver's license), what's the point of having any pictures taken of you?

There's actually a science behind how you look in the mirror to how you look in pictures. Unless you're face is perfectly symmetrical (It isn't), your face in the mirror is different than what people actually see. You're used to seeing your own reflection and not the real image of yourself, so you perceive your photos as "bad" or "That's not what I look like!"

Trust your friends to know what you really look like, you don't see yourself 99% of the time.

Also your brain would rather see a sexy stud in the mirror than an ugly chode.

I find this true for everyone. Sometimes I'll see a girls Facebook photos and they will look ugly. It's strange because in person they are attractive.

Every single girl that I meet online says I look better in person than in my pictures.
