I fucking hate the funeral industry. I read a book about it once and it helped put into words alot of the shitty things I suspected went on:

Anyway - even though I am not a 'cheap' person. I cannot bear to waste money on shit which will not bring an iota of benefit to anyone. As such - I have always wanted to avoid shelling out a bunch of cash for funerals.

Now - I always though the cheapest way to get rid of a dead body is to donate the body to a medical school.

Well - I looked into this last night. And - at least here in the UK - the only person who can give consent to do this is the person involved (whereas usually - the close family has final say on what happens to a body).

So - you have to contact a local medical school, request a form - and then get the person themselves to sign the form and store it with their will.

It will not be a convenient 'magic bullet' solution for those looking to save cash on burying others. Like I say - I am not 'cheap'. I would just rather the money wasted on a burial was given to a charity. And I hate being 'red pill' in all other aspects of my life - before resorting to lazy 'blue pill' traditional (and stupid) ways of thinking in death.

Still - with this knowledge in mind. At least I have some warning now that if you want to go down this route (it is the only way to get rid of a body which costs nothing) you will have to organise it way ahead of time.

Anyway - just wanted to pass along this advice to you lot as well.

Shit - I say that alot as well. But - if you don't come up with a realistic, simple and legal option. You will just end up another dead sucker having thousands of dollars buried in the ground with you.

You forget an important side of funerals. Funerals are a great way for many people to extensively say goodbye to someone who was close to them. If you don't want to shell out money for a funeral, you are essentially robbing other people of a good way to say goodbye to the person and grieving in a healthy way.

When my father died 2 years ago a lot of people I hadn't seen for many years turned up to pay their respects and it felt good to be with them again and together cherish the good memories you had with the person who died.

Although I agree with your sentiments, I believe the deposit for the 20 foot tall marble likeness of me wearing only a loincloth and surrounded by a bevy of nude women grasping up at my manhood that will sit atop the entrance to my crypt is nonrefundable.

Cremation is an option if you want to give a funeral like experience but at a low price.

In South Africa, if you die but no relative comes to claim your body, then after a year in the morgue you are sent either to a medical school or buried in a common grave at state expense. Not sure how the UK manages unclaimed bodies, but there is probably a procedure in place.

I'd want one of those funerals like in Jamaican culture or in Nola, all my family and friends getting drunk and dancing in the streets. Fuck all that crying shit, been to too many of those.

I want my body to be buried under a tree overlooking a large body of water or panoramic landscape, or maybe shot out to drift forever in space.

Memorial Service can be somewhere in the city

I've looked into pre-paying for the basics - just collecting the corpse, burning it and throwing out the ashes. Most places just seem to charge $2-3K.

You would save the $2-3K by simply signing up with a medical school. Alot of tips are often shared aaround saving money - yet this never seems to be mentioned.

I wonder if there is a way to create free mass graves where the methane from decomposition is harvested, and used as an alternative fuel source?

That or we could always go the Soylent Green route. Offer that as the nutritional staple for public assistance in lieu of food stamps. That would incentivize the fuck out of some people to get their shit together.
