RE: Cambodia ... for women?
Quote:the real challenge is that the non-entertainment girls are shy. my foreigner face, and they probably only speak a few words in english. a lot of very casual approaching is workable, a little ‘sok sabai’ (how are you) to just get a vibe. not even game, just ‘hi’.
from there, by trial and error, i found that keeping it simple is the way to go:
‘where are you going?’
got this one from the local guys. they do it, so it’s not a far fetched thing for a girl to hear. felt weird using that at first, but they are inquisitive anyway. everybody is constantly asking what you had for lunch and if you’ve showered yet and … where are you going?
‘can i come with you?’
also sounds ridiculous. i tried a hundred other things though, coming to realize that it’s all over-engineered. she either is open to hang, or she’s not. she’ll talk to the foreigner, or she won’t. she’s too shy, or she’s not. wit, indirect game, all that stuff, totally wasted energy. or, also:
‘want to go for a walk?’
in other places i’d never make questions out of approaches. but here, lowest effort, it’s just working better. it’s a yes or a no. if she hesitates, i point to the wat (temples pretty much everywhere), say that i want to go look at it. it’s visible, it’s close by, non threatening. it’s yes or no. whatever. thirty times a day, some cute thing will be possibly down.
all that makes me wonder how much i over-thought things elsewhere. it’s starting to feel natural. ’where are you going?’ a lot of it is in the delivery. you say it 200 times, it loses any hesitation or self consciousness. it’s just a question. empty, without meaning, like exhaling a breath. it’s kind of awesome, really. taking the whole ‘game’ thing to full zero. if you’ve been into pickup, you might really appreciate the zen of this. no forced smiles, no poker face, no nothing – just … ‘where are you going?’
she might ignore me, or look confused, or just tell where she’s going. you have to try it a hundred times at least, see it work a few times, to start to trust it. like the first thousand punches to a sandbag. they’re consecutively a little less awkward. eventually, flawless. just air compressing invisibly around your fist, the satisfying impact with the bag. like so much inevitability.
you guys in the west, try this out for me. it does sound odd, but we shouldn’t rule out things just based on untested assumption.
also, getting to know the female mom shop keepers is gold. lately they’re constantly offering to find me girlfriends. and single girls in my part of town aren’t 25. or 23. more like 19. and toned, tanned, graceful, a youth spent working the rice fields.

Quote:What we’re working with … most of Cambodia is rural. So in 90% of the country, a girl will tend to a rice field. No money there. Maybe $30 a month. Up a step from there, one of the countless factories. Tens of thousands of girls work in those. Maybe… $60 to $80 a month. Up from there, the girls whose families can afford to pay for school. Here, the air gets thin. Here we get into $120 to $200 a month, working in banks, customer service, hotel management, tourism, whatever.
The girls who didn’t stay on the family farm and ended up in the capital, might work in a beergarden as on site hostess. Or in a coffee shop, or a little local restaurant. Again, maybe $50 a month, maybe $80. A place to stay on site sometimes, free food maybe. From there, and various other ways, some filter into banging some locals. $10, maybe $20, maybe even $50 if she works in an upscale local KTV. Once the girl isn’t a virgin anymore, she’s out of the traditional culture. It’s a big step, a lot of families are absolutely not down with that.
Keep in mind, this is coming from me, after three months here. It’s a limited one-man’s view.
So the gateway cock in most cases, is local. She might stay with that, if she’s attractive, has some family attachment, a reasonably socially integrated peer group. The foreigner is another big flush further down in this particular drain.
Of course none of this is entirely true and accurate. There are as many variations as with anything in human nature and society. Girls who straddle that cultural divide, with Western friends. Students who go abroad. Whatever.
The girls that go down the drain usually don’t have good family relations. Their friends are already in that thing. It’s easy to do, if you share a $90 a month room with four other girls, and three of them work in expensive restaurants, get exposed to Westerners. So much like feeding a feral dog, till it starts to get less skittish about humans. And at some point, dropping cultural integration for one’s own immediate need just makes sense.
Long story, short point. By the time a middle aged, grizzled expat sees a Cambodian girl, in 98% of cases, she’s been chewed up and spit out by every other level of society. Family was fucked up. School didn’t happen. Friends were bad influence. Failed marriage, single motherhood, taking to some paid sex venues with locals. Down, down, down. By the time this girl is 30 and the fresh-from-boat semi retired Australian dude meets her, … yikes.

Quote:the cheapest, cheapest, teen-age-est, desperate-est, girls. if you want to spend five bucks to fuck a seventeen year old hottie with endless legs for a few hours, cambodia. she’ll spend the night to have a place to sleep. feed her some soup, buy her a t-shirt, and she might never want to leave. and she’ll bring her girl friends, too.
i never did the pay-for-sex thing before cambodia. that country, gave me a taste for it.
. . .
nightlife. granted it’s mostly semi-pros and whatnot, but the quality is undeniable, and it’s super fucking cheap. you can go out seven nights a week and barely spend an extra couple hundred a month. that’s only phnom penh of course, but outside of the capital it’s pretty much just cows and huts anyway.
. . .
and of course, girl things. they are shy. and by shy i mean painful. they have zero money, so they don’t go out. you don’t find girls in day game situations. i spent countless hours at the malls, outdoor places, everywhere. if they’re not girls for sale in one form or another (and many, many are), it’s just a no-go. and gaming the good girls is an exercise in absolute hair-pulling. can be done, but the end result isn’t worth it. i had one, she didn’t even know how to kiss. do you want to start at absolute zero? i thought it’d be fun. but it isn’t.

Quote:At the club, it being Wednesday night and ladies night, it’s about 80% girls. A lot of them freelancers. Hanging out there with my induced high, it’s easy to continue to feel like a rockstar. Girls that are hot, ones that wouldn’t give me the time of day without some serious effort in ‘rich’ countries, grab at me. Want to dance. Want to talk. One of them sees me when I leave, calls my phone, wants me to come back. Another friend who works at a fancy little wine bar down the street asks me to come by for drinks – on her.
. . .
Also, the cultural influence of non-dating, serious marriag-ey and kids-ey lives, that being whitey isn’t actually considered to be good by all. All that aside, I’m wandering around with that awareness that every girl thing is mostly a potential choice to be made by me – not her. That is the reality. In the real world, not one artificially created by government assistance and corporate sponsored reality, man has a role. It includes the responsibility of being able to provide and defend, and the benefit of choosing ones mate(s).

Quote:It’s just, you know. It’s really really hard being in a country full of gorgeous, stunning, beautiful girls, being the single guy, being possibly considered as a prize of procreative and not-starving futures. Life is HARD. You think it’s so easy. Stop judging me, dammit.
I buy her some grilled chicken from across the street. She’s so, so happy about it. A place where a piece of chicken elicits genuine joy in a girl’s eye. That’s got to be worth something. A lot maybe, even

Quote:There is a party scene.
It’s not Bangkok but that’s not even a bad thing. The really happening club, no even a cover charge. Drinks are dirt cheap. The music is actually good. Buying a girl onsite is a third cheaper than Bangkok ($10 vs. $30), and the quality is easily on par. Not so much my thing, but it’s handy when the club has that option … in case the mood strikes.
Smart people.
More than a few people speak English. A nice change from Thailand.
. . .
Girls in general, remains to be seen. They’re on average not nearly as sexy as Thai girls. Culturally they still seem to be quite a bit further back in conservative mode. Nobody is fat though, and there are tons of cute things. Much more hardbodies than Thailand. Just not the paradise levels of sexy things in slinky dresses like Bangkok.
