Meeting women in NYC
Hello guys,

I just moved from the west coast and I have to say that NYC is so much different in terms of meeting women than say vegas or San Diego. I am really good at cold approaching getting women comfortable in say 5-10 minutes but what got me really thinking is Roosh's post on meeting women on weekends vs during the week, I have been doing the community stuff for a couple of years which is predominantly night game and a structured approach. It would be great if any of you from the NYC area can share on how it's done in NYC, from meeting to working logistics. BTW I live in NJ like around a 45 minute drive from the city. thanks for reading!

Just curious what your observations are about the differences you've seen between San Diego and NYC? I know there is a world of difference between San Jose and Boston, that's for sure. I wasn't 21 yet when I graduated from college, and when I went back to Boston a few times later after graduating, I very quickly said: "holy crap, this place is insane, I clearly missed out!"

RE: Meeting women in NYC
Ok here's my brief rundown on the big differences.... So. Cal unlike east coast cities like NYC are hugely vehicle dependent, people do not use much of public transport. In NYC it’s more street/train station game from what I am seeing. It’s just not restricted to a night club or a lounge unlike West coast cities in Cali or Phoenix or Vegas for the most part. I think one of the attributes of a good player is the ability to adapt to his surroundings and make it work for him. During my little time in Vegas I realized how hard it was to pull a hot tourist back to my place for a one night stand, the second your car left the strip she would get nervous and ask you to turn around. The city of Las Vegas can be your biggest cockblock! Also it was pointless to run any game remotely close to comfort because moist of them are looking to have a good time.

I am still working on logistics for pulling in NYC/Hoboken, I live a good 45 minutes away and it seems the only way I could pull off a one night stand is if I get them back to their place. Also I think tanned women are more beautiful than pale pasty ones and there seem to be plenty of the paler ones in the NYC area.

Weird, I also live in Hoboken.

I think a key to my bar game in Hoboken is peacocking or just dressing nicely.

Other than that, I mostly rely on apartment parties and all that jazz.

IME, I thought NYC girls were rather aggressive.

My boys (who don't skill set/cold approach game) who live in NYC now have their hang out spots and they just meet girls in their daily life. It's more of a social circle/lifestyle game.

Hoboken IME is one huge frat house, i love the way women dress around there. Also, its supposed to be ranked high up in the single scene, with a younger crowd (18 to mid 20's) I think mostly dues to schools such as Seton Hall & Stevens in the area.

RE: Meeting women in NYC
For all you NYC players... how would the logistics be for having a pad near the PATH in Hoboken and running game? How is the talent/ease of pulling in Hoboken, and how receptive are women to taking the PATH to Hoboken from NYC? Its only a 12 minute ride and there's 24 hour service on weekends, but I could see the "oh my god New Jersey?!" being a potential cockblock.

Hoboken and Jersey City are expensive too. Maybe not as much as Manhattan, but pretty close, especially if you want to be close to the PATH. Unless there is another reason for being in Jersey, you'd be better off with a smaller apt in Manhattan, or Brooklyn.

RE: Meeting women in NYC
From my research, Hoboken is roughly 25% cheaper than Manhattan. A nice 1BR with hardwood floors, washer/dryer and a decent view will set you back around $1900-2300... but will probably be a good 20 minute walk to the PATH station. Hell if I were to pull in Manhattan I'd just drop the $35 on a uber home. I prefer Hoboken because I have friends there, its more laid back and the state income tax is half of NYC.

I'm more of a day game guy, get numbers and make dates. My concern is girls instantly ruling out NJ because it seems so far away.

RE: Meeting women in NYC
In terms of logistics, I'm going to extend what broken said. From my experience as well, the women are more aggressive and alpha, I suppose. What this has translated into for me is that they usually don't have a problem bringing me back to their place. I have a special rate at a hotel near Union Square, but it's common bathrooms and a bit prison like in appearance, so I prefer not to bring girls back to it. I usually just say I'm not from the area and take it from there.

As for the PATH logistics, still trying to figure it out myself. Yes, it's 24/7 service on weekends but I like going out during the weekdays too and don't want to get stuck when the trains stop running at 11pm.

It's something, but unless your making A LOT of money I think it's being penny-wise/pound-foolish. Here is my reasoning:

Keep in mind you get to deduct those taxes from your federal. Also at $4.20 roundtrip PATH ticket your spending about $1,400/year if you work in Manhattan.

You do still save money, but on a salary of $150k it's probably only about $200-250/month. Toss in some Uber rides it's even less, and what about suffering the commute everyday and bad logistics if your social life is in Manhattan.

It wouldn't be worth it to me unless I had another reason for living in Hoboken like RIslander has.

I'm surprised though to hear Uber is only $35/Hoboken since they have to pay a $14 toll on the way back, but it's not that long a trip so maybe that's right.

Another thing to consider is a NYC girl will have to really want to spend the whole night with you AND make the trek back to Manhattan. You will also have to spend the whole night with her.

If your social life is going to revolve around NYC then I think it makes sense to live there even if it means being in Brooklyn/Queens/Upper Manhattan

Lets keep this thread going...I'm in NYC and am in the early stages of running game here.

My general thoughts have been elevators are a setting where my social anxiety drops dramatically and its so much easier to strike up conversation with an attractive stranger.

Street, sidewalk, park benches, "plaza" benches, subway platform, subway car, bar, eating solo at a restaurant bar, a shopping area, museum, Starbucks, etc. Hot girl getting a special slice at the pizzeria? "Oh that's the best one -- good taste Wink".

Also very easy to get into state by chatting up EVERYONE all over.

New Yorkers are a lot more congenial than rumored; just be sensitive to context and how busy someone looks.

Public "incidents" are a great time to share a laugh / smile / chat with fellow onlookers. For instance, a crazy person talking nonsense, or two cabs almost crashing and then yelling at each other IRT-ically, or you and some other folks JUST missing the subway train. Great moments to bring some levity to the situation with your fellow city denizens.

easy to meet women here, esp bars - most women are open to being approached, even if married/attached (they still like the attention) as it's fairly obvious that supply/demand does not work in their favor

RE: Meeting women in NYC
what are you guys thoughts on Airbnb for the bang if logistics aren't great?

I've been mauling over this in my head. If you live too far away get an airbnb in the city if you think you're going to bang. Just pretend and act like the aribnb is your place. The girl will never know.

The only draw back is you'd have to book early enough and sometimes you might not always get the cheapest airbnb.

BTW I'd only move to NY if I was making 150K a year. My brother is an investment banker living in Manhattan. His rent is only $800 which is killer for where he lives.

That is so ridiculous.

I hear that 150k number quite a lot. Some time ago I actually started a thread asking who makes 150k on here - turns out that VERY few make that much $$, and if they do, they have their own business, not as employees.

Also, where do you get a place in NYC for $800???

But I don't want to derail the thread, but that just stuck out.

But re: meeting girls in NYC: literally everywhere.

Art openings are a good place. People are walking around and mingling, but it's a lot more relaxed and laid back than a nightclub.

And yeah, during your daily life is good, just get in the habit of chatting people up. I think people are generally very open in NYC.

Also going direct works pretty well I found. In NYC people are always stressed and don't have much time, so you often times you need to get to the point pretty quickly.

Guys who make 150k+ don't feel the need to post about it. You would be very surprised how much many of the forum member's here make, and as employees, especially in a high cost of living area. How many forum members have you met and became friends with?

His brother could've got gifted the $800 pad from his parents rent-controlled unit, he could have 3 roomates and live in Bushwick. The city is a big place, with a lot of money. But so is Boston. Smile

One of the things that I give the least amount of importance to is how much someone earns. Why? Because you can make $50,000 per year, have no debt, and actually save something, or you can make over $500,000 per year and be screwed all over the place. Upside down mortgages, ridiculous car loans, alimony, child support, getting scammed, private school, getting scammed, drugs, getting scammed, etc. If you don't know people who are in both of these categories, then you simply haven't been out enough. I can make a million dollars in a minute or I can make $50,000 or $60,000 in a year. Either way, I will be debt free and my lifestyle will be pretty much the same. The only difference is that the big payday w ok update add to my savings and/or investments. When you get into eight figure plus territory, It's hard to mess up, yet plenty of people have, Mike Tyson, etc.

To have an anywhere near decent lifestyle in NYC, you gotta make 120k+, period. No exceptions

This entails: your own place (in Manhattan), enough money to eat, go to the gym, whatever, take a vacation or two a year, and save (A LITTLE) money

RE: Meeting women in NYC
I spent about a year there and it was the best place in my life for same night lays. Bars are great. I liked the dive bars in the East Village and my secret weapon was the REAL Irish places on McLean in Yonkers.

As for the shallow comments on this thread about money, you don't need much money in NYC if you are creative. I was getting divorced, totally screwed and had almost no money. I found sublets and cheap options. I budgeted under $10 for a night out. I got laid constantly because I had just discovered game and didn't give a fuck. I lived on $1000 a month total. Yes I had to move every two or three months but I didn't care I was just waiting out a divorce. Once it was all over I headed down south and started my life over.

I remember one of the funniest lays I ever got in NYC. I fucked a psychologist, blond Italian American, 30s, phd, solid 7, took HOURS after the clubs closed to convince her to come up off the street. In the morning in my little sublet of an apartment (in exchange for cat sitting) she started to interview me. Was it my apartment, was I "an old BMW kind of guy or a new BMW kind of guy." Will never forget smirking at the questions because I had already fucked her and didn't care what she found out.

150k per year... thats around 8k/month after taxes. Assuming 20% savings, and a $1500-2000 or so bankroll, are you guys really putting $4,500+/month into rent?

I currently live in LA, with an pimp pad a block off the beach, and keep total rent/bankroll under $3500.

To live in Manhattan (not Harlem, like south of 100th Street) in your own place,

You will be paying $2,000/month minimum, but I'd put that closer to $3,000 minimum for anywhere decent downtown

(Those are market-rate rents, you can of course get cheaper if you know someone, etc)
