Im planning on going to Cartagena for New Years and had a few questions.

Im meeting some girls in Lima Peru around Christmas and then we are going to Colombia. I kinda want to take a plane but they wanna save money and ride the bus. So my question is, is it relatively safe to use the bus on the road from Equador to Cali? I know the roads are pretty safe Cali up to Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena. I think I heard Mixx or someone saying that south of Cali isnt very safe.

Another thing, has anyone been or know about New Years celebration in Cartagena? We are gonna go to some Salsa Festival in Cali around the 28th. I plan on checking out all the major Colomian cities. Im alittle worried about having some girls with me while im trying to pickup and fuck locals. Im going to have to work around this as i dont wont them to cockblock and also think im some male whore lol

The south of Cali is where all FARC activity is mostly concentrated. I would not recommend you take a bus through those areas if you are an obvious gringo (blonde hair, blue/green eyes) and have limited spanish skills to understand what is going on around you.

Cartagena is VERY safe and full of tourists. Although, I am having trouble understanding why you are importing a girl fro Peru to Colombia... ???

Keep in mind that New Years in Colombia is COMPLETELY different than America/Europe or Brazil. Colombians STAY INDOORS with family New Years Eve, and party 'til they puke on Christmas Eve!!

Also, the 28th of December is the famous annual debauchery known as "feria de Cali" trust me dude, DO NOT take a girl with you to FERIA DE CALI!!! You will remember my words, and painfully!

And last, you plan on taking a bus from Cali to Cartagena or vice-versa? That's close to a 36 hour ride! yeah, buses travel uphill and very slow...do not imagine the super 5 lane highways you'd find in America or Europe. Take a plane!

I was thinking the same as Mixx.. why would you bring girls to Columbia when there are mucho already there.. why not meet the girls in Lima, then fly to Columbia and leave them behind ? -) I've never been to the feria de cali but looking at some stuff about it online, it looks like this event is the highlight of the year for Cali..

Im friends with some girls that are going. Its gonna be me and 2-3 other girls. Im not really trying to hookup with them soo its not like im bringing sand to the beach per say. I feel like they might can come in handy for conversating, plus they have local connections in Colombia and can introduce me to some social circles i wouldnt have had the chance to meet if I went alone. This is gonna help me more than hurt me imo. Because once we get to a venue im going to be venturing off by myself to scoop some ladies.

It looks like its gonna be a problem getting from cali to cartagena for new years in time. Do you know how much a plane ticket to cartagena should run? Also you said people stay inside for new years? All my colombian friends told me Cartagena is the place to be for new years in Colombia. There has to be some parties and celebrating going on right?!?

Also, Mixx. can you give me the low down on feria de Cali? Where / What to do to get the max of of the festivities? I just youtubed it an good god i saw tons of smoking calinas!
