Ok, so its not the first time I've heard this -- and its frustrating!

I have a badge, a gun and love my job... the ladies love me in uniform and I joke around and have a great time with them -- I just don't make myself 'available' for pickup when on the clock/in uniform.

Anyway... I try to go to the bars, etc., but always hear that I'm 'unapproachable'. I have ladies looking my way, but they don't make a move, and for some reason, I can't yet get that confidence to walk over and say hi. (put me in the uniform, and I'll walk over and tell them its not polite to stare and if they keep it up, I'll have to put them in handcuffs -- and from there it's a great time).

However... how the hell do I loose this unapproachable persona? Out of uniform (in a bar setting for example), it looks like I'm 'working'. One time I wandered the bar alone after some friends took off early for the night... a couple of very attractive ladies were eyeballing me. Anyway, a fight started, I stepped in, dealt with it until our uniform guys showed and took the guys away. I heard the women saying (they pushed there way into watch me break apart the fight) to each other how they figured I was an undercover cop working and that was why I wasn't talking to them(or other women). I ended up leaving for the night after this, still having not talked to any women (aside from those in our group early on).


Any suggestions on how to present yourself as 'approachable'??

You want life to be easy huh?

- Get closer (establish a place that puts you in a lot of traffic, and on display)
- Be talkative and Talk LOUD (she'll jump in)
- Give her something to comment on (pendant, bracelet, t-shirt, what you just said)

You're better off doing the approaching imo (way better), but if you want them to chase you - you need to give the something to chase and an opportunity to do so.

The only time I'd work on being approachable is when I got my own approach game worked out nicely. If you're looking for a shortcut so you don't have to approach then it's not going to work.
