I just came back from a short :vacation" to Germany(paid by my job)

How are ya'll getting places?
Example: A round trip ticket would cost me about 750 dollars to fly to Medellin.
Flying RT to Frankfurt on my own money would cost at least 1100.
This doesnt include lodging.

Is there something I'm missing when it comes to travel?
How exactly is everyone finding flights and hotels?

Is it airfare which makes up the bulk of trip expenses?
Or am I just cheap?

I fly business class - expensive.

depends on where ur going and what ur looking to stay in.

if u stay in hostels than the airfare is the bulk of ur expenses.

if u wanna rent out an apartment or nice hotel than airfare and lodging are gonna be about the same

i got roundtrip tickets to USA - Rio - Colombia - USA for 1400 bucks. I plan on staying in hostels for about a month in south america. So ima budget the trip at 3k total.

Do you travel often? Are you Star Alliance/Skyteam member, so you would get miles for your flights? Do you get the airline credit card?

Last three vacation flights I've got (including two overseas) I did not pay anything except $10 per-ticket fee.
