It's boating season in Michigan. Best time of the year to find some college chicks/young professionals at their most sleeziest state. With the only guaranteed warm months being mid-June through mid-September, large flock of girls head to the local beach areas for fun in the sun. Many college kids can’t afford to take a trip to an international beach destination or even Florida for that matter. Why would they when they can hop in a car and drive 3 hours to Lake Michigan or some other smaller body of water.

For a group of dudes with some money, looking for a fun time with college/young professional girls, renting a boat here would be perfect. Find yourself a group of girls at a bar the night before, engage them, and eventually mention that you will be going out to the lake on your boat tomorrow or whatever day. Girls do not say no to this. Add some booze and you got yourself a good party. What’s that? Couldn’t find a group of girls the night before? Then go out there anyways and find some boat hoes that are looking to get in.

For a 35 foot boat, that holds 12 passengers, indoor fridge, canopy, indoor area, captain, and gas you can pay 700 per three people for 7 hours. That’s right; you don’t have to worry about having a sober captain. I’ve been to Put-N-Bay once last summer and I had a blast. We took my friends boat out and picked up a group of girls who wanted to party. You can easily rent online or go to a local marine and ask for listings of boat rentals. My advice would be to go first before renting to make sure of the condition of the boat.

There is this festival called Jobbie Nooner near here and I hear it’s crazy. A weekend of drinking, sex, boats, etc etc. I’m not sure about the quality of girls there though…

Also, if you want to be the captain of your own boat, you don’t need to take lessons for it. It’s only recommended here in Michigan. That can be both good and a bad thing.

I had a co-worker who is somewhat socially awkward, but owns a boat (think it is a 20 something footer), is tall, drinks like a fish and otherwise dresses nicely.
He would approach random chicks and tell them "I have boat; lets go for ride" in his thick Russian accent.

Try the new Boston Seaport District - game helps but not required just need your stuff together. The less you flash in Boston the more they want to know your story... then there are the annual FUGAWI races to Nantucket and the Newport RI summer season - like the Hamptons but more strong financial fortunes (Private Equity and Hedge Funds) versus the entertainment players in NYC.

Wish I would have discovered these sites back in the spring, but I found a couple Airbnb type sites for boats and yachts, called Antlos & Boatbound.

Boatbound seems to only be available in NA and Antlos is only available in Europe & the British Virgin Islands as of this post.

Huge potential here for utilizing some boat game while traveling.

I want to get into boat game, but do not necessarily want to own. I'll be giving this a try out next summer.

I find boat game works best in areas where boats aren't that common for everyone to have. I'm in CHicago so we have Fox Lake and the Channel Lakes. I have some buddies who grew up there and literally half the kids living around the lake get a boat at age 16 so it's really nothing special to spend a day on the lake, thats the normal weekend thing to do.

On the flip side if you live in Chicago the only people with boats are people really balling as you need like a nice 35' deep v hull boat to go out on the lake, plus storage fees are outrageous, you really gotta be dumping a lot of money into a boat in Chicago, though there are some badass boat parties just off the city, drinking, ht girls, watching the skyline, etc.

Anyhow, you don't need anything especially fancy even a 16 or 18 foot speed boat is a good time. I'd honestly consider splitting a boat with a couple buddies, you can get a decent used boat for like $3500 or less, if you buy offseason. If you can split with 3-4 buddies it's only like $700 or $800 a piece. Boat rentals unless a groupon are typically like a couple hundred for 2 hours so if you actually wanted a full day out on the lake your probably looking at $500 or more. Add to that all the headaches it is to rent, show ID, listen to their boaters course, may be strict about bringing alcohol or how many people are allowed on the boat. Owning you don't deal with any of that, though obviously you deal with a lot of time or maintenance to maintain your boat.

As far as Michigan and beaches and boating, I'm a huge fan of Weko Beach by the Michigan dunes, not a bad drive frm Chicago, no lines like at the dunes, not huge crowds and they have a boat launch you can use for like $15. They aren't strict about booze on the beach and a lot of people park their boat like 20 feet offshore and spend the day going back and forth from teh beach to their boat.

Anyhow, personally I'd say you don't have to rent some yaght and bring out 20 girls, get a 18 foot boat a couple coolers of beer adn bring out a gruop of a couple buddies and 4-6 girls and you'll have a good time.

One other thing, I know a lot of people who buy boats planning on entertaining every weekend bringing girls out, bringing friends out, bringing family out. Most of the people I know have these expectations of people all comming out but in reality most people I knwo are always begging people to come out and have a hard time getting people out. I love boating so anytime my uncle offers I'm out there but it is a hassle getting a cooler and stuff ready, driving an hour or more to the lake, plus I always feel obligated to chip in for gas which isn't cheap. When you first get teh boat everyone will be comming out and after a novelty time or two it gets tougher finding people who want to go.

One other thing, its a lot more fun being invited out on a boat than owning one. In addition to taking it out of storage and winterizing it when everyone else is drunk and heading home you typically have another hour of work bringing the boat to your storage place or getting it trailered. Also as the owner your typically the driver and some lakes are pretty strict about drinking and driving.

Really wondering if anyone here has done such a thing and how are the condition on the boats they could find.

Boats are awesome, though the OP is based in the worst place for boating.

You have to take your boat out of the water for the winter season otherwise the lake will freeze around the boat and destroy the hull.

I grew up around boats. Love 'em to bits though you know the old adage:

Definately true most marinas have abandoned boats that they would be happy to give away if your willing to pay for a slip. There really is no such thing as cheap boat ownership, at least if you want a decent boat to entertain on. I have a boat right now and mine is about as low maintenance as possible though hardly a party boat lol. I have a 12' Hand built wooden sailboat.

I can only fit one person on it so hardly a party boat but not bad to take a date out on the lake for a day, have a few beers and just cruise around. That said I don't need insurance, my registration and everything is cheaper because its non-motorized and under 14'. I can literally hand launch the thing as it only weighs a few hundred pounds and doesn't take up that much space in my garage. That said its not smething your going to take out on the ocean or even lake michigan. I'm actually trying to sell it now, was kind of an impulse buy and wanted to learn to sail. Had some fun times but just not getting enough use out of it to justify keeping it and trying to scale back on my toys.

As for real boats, really no cheap way to go. Sailboats are cheap to buy but due to the deep hull and awkwardness it's not really something you can or would want to trailer which means paying slip fees of a few hundred a month or moring it which is cheaper but more of a hassle.

Yeah the boat definately works for dates. Also because it's wood and a row boat chicks really like it, I think there was some scene in the notebook movie with a boat like mine because several women have mentioned something about it.

Definately a nice way to spend an afternoon, sail around a bit, drop anchor and drink a few Rattlers or something, smoke a lil something, just hangout. One person is the max I could fit on my boat so definately no parties going on.

As for teh whole provider thing, yes because sailing is more complicated than just pushing a throttle you do kind of get to show off a skill as well as teach her something.

Honestly my problem is Lake Michigan is not only a hassle to get to, park, launch, but my boat is on the small side so would have to be a really calm day or would have to be in a harbor. I'm kind of limited to smaller park district lakes which can be a pain as each requires a different permit or you buy a daily permit and many don't allow sails.

Its fun though. If i lived somewhere warmer I'd probably buy a catamaran.

A 35 foot boat with 12 feet in length can fit 12 people. Granted, having guys that weight around 200 and chicks under 140 (no ones partying with fatties anyways) is doable.

You're right in that the cost doesn't make sense but if you wanted to do it for a weekend as a blowout party then so what. A better option would be to be a member at a boating club and then pay the membership fees plus the rental boating fees for a season.

Depending upon where you go boating you could actually probably fit a lot more than 12 people. If your off the Chicago skyline in Lake Michigan your somewhat limited but if you go to a lake where they have a Sandbar where everyone hangs out normally about half the people are off the boat playing that Frisbee beer on a stick game or floating on a raft. I guess even on Lake Michigan you could bring out a couple big tubes and bring a few extra people.

The best boat game is befriending a guy with a boat, then chipping in on expenses or better yet, pay him in pussy by bringing girls to his boat.

Best done during the high season in locales like Lake Havasu or a boat based out of a nice marina along the west coast.

Boats are a huge amount of maintenance and cost. It's WAY better to be the guy chipping in for gas and buying the beer than the guy paying the slip fees, doing or paying for the maintenance, etc...

You don't rent or buy a big boat to invite people you already know to party on it.

Because, I'll pull up to that big boat and run my mouth and get invited aboard then steal one or two of the girls and drink up all your expensive booze so fast you'll be scratching your heads for days wondering how it happened.

Also, You need a boat that could be beached or almost beached (shallow draft) girls on the beach want to ride if your boat drafts 3ft you're just going to get stuck.

You do not need a cabin.

You do not need a partner or invite buddies. Your boat buds should have their own boat or you're bringing a cock-block and the chances of insta-strange go down 95%.

One of my summer house friends got a job at the local marina so I was around a lot of boats this summer. I had mad boat fever. Apparently Sweden has the most boats per capita. So there are a lot of old but well kept sailboats for great prices. Now in this thread my boat fever is back and I'm seriously thinking about buying one to party in, for next summer.
I was just wondering one thing. What are the defining factors that makes a boat open sea capable? Most boats here are the Swedish "skerry cruiser" type, google it if you want to see examples. Could I take one of these to the open sea? I'm not crossing the Atlantic but I definitely want one that's Mediterranean capable since that's where I'll be using it.

When I was 21 I had the best ten weeks of Summer of my life.

My best friend's dad bought a 50ft Fairline Targa, brand new, and moored it in Majorca at a pretty fancy port.

Then his wife divorced him...meaning he couldn't get away from business for more than a day or two at a time as he sorted his shit out.

So my friend and I lived on the boat by ourselves all summer.

We would get up every day, have breakfast delivered to the boat, have a couple of beers and a bottle of wine and head out to sea.

We would drive straight to a place called Magaluf, a dirty, scummy, party place on the island where all the lower class whores congregated. We'd park this gleaming gin palace about 100 yards from the beach, music blaring and just piss about on the rig (little inflatable speed boat thing tied to the back). After a while, we'd stand on the top of the deck with our binoculars and hunt for the hottest girls on the beach.

Once located, we'd jump in the rig and drive straight up onto the beach next to our targets. Spit a little bit of game and boom these whores would never miss the chance to spend the day on a $800,000 boat with two cocky kids.

Every day we had 2-4 girls spend the day out at sea.

Fucking fabulous.

Part of the reason I work is to get my own boat like this. Hopefully next year. I'm getting excited just typing this post.

Going to chime in this thread again, because I know in my future I will most likely be owning a boat!

My family had a Bayliner not sure the size as I was quite young when I had it. We would take it out almost weekly and go out into the open water.

Swimming and sun tanning in the middle of a large body of water was f*cking amazing. There was a large cabin inside with a galley, microfridge, shower/toilet combo, and a large bed in the front.

I had birthday parties on that boat.

If you live in the great lakes, owning a boat will suck since the weather causes the lakes to freeze over. However, your boat will retain a lot of its value simply because freshwater doesn't eat up and destroy the boat as quickly as saltwater does.



The real trick is living in a place where you can drive your boat on a dolly and fill it up with diesel at a fueling station. Boat fueling stations are a rip off. I remember living in the 90s and seeing diesel prices around 1.25$. The marina was charging $2.30 for the privilege. Absolutely disgusting!

Honestly, in some places there are bars that are by the water and you can dock up. I remember a place in my hometown where this bar was popping during the day. Boats would come up and guys would scoop up the talent.

For the ladies and pickup, definitely awesome. Worth the price if you can make a party on your boat.

I had a 18 foot Bayliner speed boat (had 17ft a few years before that)
Some of the most me memorable times of my life was being out on the lake with bros, hoes, or wifey. It didn't matter, you cant really not have a good time out on the water with good friends and good music and sunshine. I had a big airtube everyone would ride on and have a blast. I put a car stereo with 2 12" subs on the boat to... I would have put some 20s on the trailer if I could.

Yea man girls get freaky and let loose when you take them out on the lake. We would cruise up to the little make shift beach and just scoop hoes up that were there... it was pretty easy it went like this "Hey whats up you girls wanna go tubing" then they said yes and that was that.

I always blasted this on the stereo when we scooped up new girls

I'm far from an expert on boats, if you're going the power boat route you want something with a deep v hull. In lake Michigan there's always arguments about what size boat you need and that's not even the ocean. Most people I hear say minimum 21 foot and that's small and can only go out on calm days but I hear other people saying they've gone out 3 miles fishing on a 14' boat.

For sailboats I don't think you really need a specific type of boat as the nature of a sailboat makes it seaworthy. Just get something with a heavy full keel. This is mostly only on smaller boats but on my boat pictured above my boat is basically a flat bottom skiff with a wooden keel held up by a bunjee that I can drop down for more stability.

One other thing to keep in mind, if you want to go out on larger bodies of water you need lights, a marine radio, and coast guard requires certain things. Not a huge issue but if your deciding between boats and one comes with a lot of extra stuff lean towards that one as all that stuff adds up if you have to buy it or install it.

I/O (inboard-outboard) setups like most smaller volvo penta, mercruiser use car engines adapted for a boat with a unreliable drive system also the cut a huge hole in the transom to put it together..

They have rubber hoses that leak, an exhaust system that fails or rots out due to salt water.
   
Outboards are designed for boats only.

   

As soon as those flexible rubber hoses leak and remember they're underwater game over..Look at the top pic with the automotive style universal joints that shouldn't be on a boat.
