This is bizarre, anybody ever try this before? Instead of drinking alcohol, you can inhale alcohol vapors to get the exact same level of intoxication. Except, because it bypasses the digestive system, you feel the effects of the liquor almost instantaneously.

One method is to use dry ice to create the alcohol vapor: "Some people drop a carbon dioxide pill into container with alcohol, pour alcohol over dry ice or pump pressurized air into a bottle of liquor. All three methods result in inhalable alcohol vapor."

This sounds interesting, I'd be willing to try it out. Although the government will crackdown on this like everything else, it seems like there's little they can do if you're just brewing this stuff up in your home.

Already though the nanny state is sounding the warning: "Public health officials worldwide are warning young people off the new trend of “smoking alcohol.”

Inhaling anything other than air is never really any good for you. Alcohol will kill your nasal cavity faster than a lot of other substances. The plus side is, you'll probably need a lot less to get drunk, and it will be an instant hit, rather than a slow rise to drunkenness. I wouldn't recommend this if you're a lightweight at all.

Sidenote; I'm fairly sure, since, through this method, the alcohol won't really pass through the liver, you can theoretically get sloshed, and still pass a breathalyzer test. Real bad for your brain, though, don't over do this if you're going to try it. Wouldn't really get my recommendation, but I'm going to do so later, I suspect.

Another side note; inhaling Ether, by itself, is great. It does burn the absolute fuck out of your nose pretty quickly, and the high is rather short lived, but it's high is pretty good. I suspect the dry ice method might produce slightly different effects, though.

I read about this being introduced years ago but thought it had been banned for health reasons. Guess they thought of a way to get round it. Kind of like you are freebasing alcohol. I would try it for sure.

I've heard about the Greeks doing this w ouzo. Lighting it on fire inside a bigger cup, cupping it to extinguish fire then inhaling vapor and taking shot

... Evaporating the alcohol out of the drink, then drinking it anyway? Seems a little off. I suppose Ouzo is a drink that someone might like to drink purely for the taste. Anything remotely resembling aniseed makes me puke, though, so, I think I'll be giving that particular method a miss..

My friend and I did this once. We built a home still, made some moonshine, and would occasionally pull the vapor hose out of the cooling bath and rip big hits off it. Yeah, we got fucked-in-half drunk. Yeah, it was fun. No, it doesn't really sound like a good idea a decade later.
