Apparently it's just awful now, guys in our office there have to wear a mask to go outside. This happened in Moscow a couple years ago and it was like hell on earth. Think it's coming from the forest fires in Indonesia, not unlike the peat bog fires we had in Russia.

Note: I'm not talking about day to day smog - these forest/peat bog fires are a whole other level and at one point here I could not see more than 50-100 feet down the street in central Moscow.

For the forum members over there how bad is it??

I wonder if it's going to spread to Malaysia too.

Man that smog could seriously crimp a player's style....I didn't want to leave the house for days back when we had the smog here, and eventually me and a buddy left town for a week until it cleared up.

I found Moscow smog to be far worse than in Singapore. Simply driving through the city had the majority of cars covered with soot.

Sorry I was talking about the smoke coming over from the Indonesian forest fires.

We don't really have smog here, just poor air quality, like NYC but probably a bit worse due to all the traffic and lack of proper environmental car filters. It's certainly nothing like what I've heard about in Beijing or even LA from time to time.

Yes, it's from Indonesian forest fires on Sumatra. Sounds really bad and could last for weeks according to the BBC. Southern regions of Malaysia are also affected.

I was in Singapore three days ago. It was not too bad. Actually, I found the smell even pleasant it reminded me of Australian bushfires.

Yeah, it's not at a China level until you can't see the traffic lights from the other side of the intersection.

Today my colleague there said basically he needed to wear a mask to go outside, and that school was cancelled and flights delayed/cancelled too.

That peat/forest fire smoke is highly dangerous (if that's what this is) and it really made Moscow a mess when it was here a few years ago. I will try to find some old photos to display after I go home...

It's not that bad here in Sing. Most people spend most of their days indoors anyway. It does probably suck for the construction guys who make no money to spend their whole day in the heat outside, 30 floors up, breathing the worst of it.
