Is marriage beta?
Most of the manosphere agrees that marriage is a bad deal for men and is beta. On the other hand, pretty much all of the guys at my work who are higher up, the alpha executives, are married.

Alphas can still get married, it's not only betas who do it. I'm personally anti-marriage, and while this doesn't automatically make me alpha it gives me a belief I can stand behind and defend on my own terms. And that's what an alpha is to me - Someone who is so confident that they aren't afraid to live life on their own terms.

A leader of men is not the same thing as a leader of women.

Yes.

This is an RVF player rule.

Thing is, in the corporate world having a wife/family seems to be expected of a guy once he reaches a certain age, say 35+. Same with politicians, how many of them do you see without a wife. You're a beta if you do (RVF) and a beta if you don't (corporate world).

RE: Is marriage beta?
This isn't a black and white thing. You gotta ask some questions before you even try to classify it:

Why did he get married?
How quality is the girl?
Who stands to gain more in the marriage and possible divorce?
How strong is the family on both sides? Are all the girl's friends faithfully married? Does she come from a culture with a strong propensity to shame and disown unbecoming behaviour?
How strong is the prenup?

RE: Is marriage beta?
I don't know if you can really Alpha/Beta categorize it, but one thing is true...you are giving up a considerable amount of power when you get married. Furthermore, you're giving her a considerable amount of power. Essentially, a man has to hold up his part of the bargain (provider status) without a women necessarily holding up hers (namely sex). Victor Pride had a post recently titled ABC...Always Be in Control where he addresses this point. To be honest, I like the IDEA of what marriage could be, but I have yet to see it in reality. And dealing with the world as it is vice how you want it to be will get you a lot further in life. This is what the "hamster" is for a woman, dealing with life as you think it ought to be, not how it actually is.

Civilize the mind but make savage the body.

RE: Is marriage beta?
No, it's not beta. Why do I say that? Because the overwhelming majority of alpha men get married. No matter what we argue on here, most powerful, charismatic, and affluent men get married, even multiple times. Very, very few remain lifelong bachelors. And its by no means apparent that this tiny minority is the most alpha.

Marriage is what you make of it, as flawed and corrupted as it is.
