A lot has been said about the prevalence of a wingman recently. How some people use them to their advantage and play off of each other in order to minimize weakness. However, I have come up with the complete wingman profile, in my own opinion.

A wingman should be these three things:

1. A Pregame Partner:

Your wingman should have a great sense of humor, and have good conversational abilities in order to "warm up" to going out. This is a necessary action, and even if you don't have a good night out, you can still laugh about it the next day and go over what you could do better, but not lament in it.

2. A Base:

I am not one to advocate the use of a wingman in a club. He/she should merely be a base in which you can come back to in order to debrief. Personally, I like to work without a wingman and go solo in order to talk to girls, but that's my preference. If you're one to have conversations with a wingman with girls, feel free. But I like to have someone to smoke with at certain points if need be, or someone to check in with every hour or so if things aren't going so well. I don't like someone who is always in my hair, I like to wander myself.

If they are, all you need to do is tell him and he'll be down to stay if you ditch. A guy or girl who understands is the best option, that's a true friend, which brings me to my next point.

3. Has to have the same drinking abilities and competitive spirit:

If you don't have the same drinking abilities as your counterpart or pace yourself similarly, it's going to be a shitshow each weekend or you'll be too sober to talk to girls. Personally, I like to get a solid drunk before going out, as does my wingman, so it works perfectly. Also, having someone to compete with does great for my notch/flag count. Having a solid number is always good to compete with, and it makes you do that much extra just to get that notch.

This truly is the best formula for a wingman in my opinion. Someone who you can drink and laugh with, someone who understands when you need to leave with a girl, and someone who's not always on your ass at the club.

Simple as that.
