Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic - Nightlife & Best Spot to Stay?
I'm cruising to PP for a weekend and then over to Cabarete for some waves and decompressing. Looking like early Jan.

After several searches, we seem to be lacking thorough boots-on-the-ground intel for this spot.

I randomly met a guy who said he did PP and cleaned up at the clubs. Couldn't remember the names. People talk, but this guy seemed genuine.

Anyone know the best places to stay and what the club/bar scene is like?

Hotels that let your bring guests back to your room?

Clubs to avoid?

There is a nightlife area at the intersection of 16th de Agosto and Calle Sanchez. It's just west of the La Sirena store, and almost at the waterfront. Along the waterfront are bars too.

By the main university on the main highway on the southside of town are a handful of bars as well, some of them seemed pretty seedy, though others catered to students.

i was only there for a few hours, so there are probably other good areas too. And of course just about every corner in the country has a colmado which basically is a cheap ass bar.
