Bratislava Intel?
I couldn't locate any recent data on this city.

Could someone who has been there recently break down the hot spots? Your experience?

I had lunch at that restaurant that looks like a spaceship on top of the bridge. Cool spot, weird post-Soviet vibes, hot waitresses.

I've just been to Bratislava for a couple days late September. Was there to see my old friends, and with my LTR, so couldn't do anything. But still looks as good as ever. Lots of cute and approachable chicks.

RE: Bratislava Intel?
Have found myself in a position to go to Budapest or Vienna... but where really catches my eye is Bratislava. I can pretty much base myself in any of these 2 cities for a few weeks but after my time in Prague Slovakian girls have been playing on my mind so in theory I could base myself there. Any recent intel on Bratislava or if I should skip for Hungary?

Bratislava is a bit quiet compared to Budapest but Slovakian girls are generally better looking than Hungarian girls.

Hey ^
Whilst I have had some intriguing interactions with Slovakian girls I felt that they were not particularly interested one way or the other. Not because of the way I look of that I am foreign, but just not really looking to party if you know what I mean?!?!
In other words would you consider Bratislava to have a more provincial attitude or is it a bit more open minded like Poland or neighbouring Vienna for example?

RE: Bratislava Intel?
Well from my experience since living 3yrs here I would say that you would have better luck going to places where the foreigners go, as these girls will be interested in practicing their english and meeting guys who are different than the typical slovak.

Girls here complain that the slovak men are "suchari" (dry like a cracker, tasteless) the only time they get the guts to talk to girls is when they are drunk out of their asses, won't dance etc.

While that appears to be true, most of the girls who don't actively go to where the foreigners party are content or don't care much about it.

I got a bunch of friends from dif countries that have told me how much attention you can get from girls, now I would say they are a bit on the shy side and don't like making out in public if they just met you (slovak girls can handle their alcohol a lot), So they will go home with you, just game them and make sure it's outside of the eyes of their friends or other people (Bratislava is a small city and everyone knows everyone).

Check out couchsurfing or on facebook search for foreigners in bratislava, language exchange meetings, etc there are a bunch of active groups that have get togethers often, you'll find a lot of girls who are already interested in foreigners.

Finally, if you go to the popular places in old town, the club / primi / rio, etc be ready to met chicks with nice bitch shields (lots of stag parties and drunks idiots so girls are not so friendly).

Day game is cool, chicks are helpful and from what I've experienced they are quick to let you know if there's some interest in you or not.

Are you here for a while? I'm a club promoter so can help you out with some info in upcoming parties.

RE: Bratislava Intel?
I've been to Bratislava four times and it's never at the top of my list of places to visit when I want to go in that direction. Some of the clubs can be really fun, there are lots of places and the pickup is probably easier than in Prague, but it takes a few visits before you can find the places that you like. I've never been out at night in Vienna, and judging from some of the comments on here that's probably more worth a look. Knowing the mentality of the smallish towns, I'd bet a lot of the real party girls in bratislava go to Vienna when they want to let their hair down (is that true saeta?). I guess if you just want to see a city in Slovakia to make sure you're not missing anything, it's worth a 2 day stopover. Slovakia is relatively conservative for the region, I think Poland is quite a bit more open-minded (speaking of Krakow and Warsaw which I've visited).

One interesting piece of Intel on Slovakia. A Slovak girl I know from bratislava who is a big sex talker told me that I should go to some spa town in the mountains about an hour from Bratislava because all the girls go there for weekends and do stuff they wouldn't do at home and that i would "have a lot of fun" there. Have you heard of any place like that saeta?

RE: Bratislava Intel?
John,

About going to party in Vienna? hmm I'd say it's a bit suspect, prices are more expensive and the last train back from Vienna goes at 11pm, actually I've met quite more people who came from Vienna to party in BA, but this is with the circle of people I know, I could be wrong or not know about this subject (but if you think about the avg salary here is under 1,000/month going to party in Vienna doesn't sound like something to do often).

About the spas, there are a lot of them out in the mountains, you are probably talking about the ones near high tatras, I've been to the area, and I know that there's always groups of friends who go there to drink and enjoy a weekend outside of the city (I don't know many big sex talker girls so I've never heard of said custom).

Again, the girls and the behavior that I've seen here in BA is that if a girl likes you, she'll let you know right away, not a lot of games really, girls are quite friendly but you have to approach them as they are not used to just talking to strangers so a bit shy. Girls will bang, not prudes, its just that they like to be more private about it. This is in regards to people in their late 20's early 30's as this is the type I hang out more with, can't say much about university types.

I went some 4 years ago, not very recent. There was a rock club in an old bomb shelter that was pretty cool, was busy too, rock music scene when I went but they seem to do other music types too. This site has a picture of the inside of the club http://www.local-life.com/bratislava/articles/nightlife the walk down into the club is a narrow and long corrider, very surreal and cool scene.

Girl were friendly and the guys were cool when I was there, Slovakia is a great country. The drinking culture is weird there, everyone does straight spirits followed by syrup if you're a girl and beer if you're a guy. Plenty of cheap bars packed with student types I know you dig on. On the 4 day trip I went on all 3 guys travelling got laid(well one met a sloviakian studying in scotland an got a GF), was a blast.

Huh That doesn't sound so great. She is probably looking at it from the girl perspective. If she goes there with her girl friend and there are 4 guys under 50, they will be set for the weekend. LOL

Don't know any of the areas, apart from Bratislava and Kosice, I've just heard of Nitra some hot babes coming out of there.

I ran into her about a month ago for the first time in a few years. She was going out of her way to be nice and explained that she is more stable now than back in those days (6 years ago). Her words, not mine. She was also a dance floor penis grabber. Do they do that in Slovakia?

Thanks for your input saeta. I will PM you about night spots.
Czech girls and Slovakians were more than happy to interact but ultra conservative compared to all the other nationalities. I think this was to be expected in a place like Prague but since I do not know Czech mentality I couldn't be sure. But since Slovakia is quite unique it's hard to pin what the mentality of the women will be like. You describe them more like Russians who if they like something will go for it, but then there is still social pressure from friends and small town mentality which Russian girls absolutely do not care about.

Yeah my only points of comparison are with fat flip flopping americans, haven't travelled much to other areas to be honest.

I like my slovak girls, they are hot and plenty of them to go around (sure BA is a small city, but this is the main reason why I like this town as well, hate big cities).

I had a very hot g/f from Bratislava but did find her to be very reserved/conservative as per the other comments on this thread and the city depressed the hell out of me. On the flip side all her single friends and herself were very disappointed with Slovak men and looking externally Smile

These girls are hot, probably as most eastern european girls, unfortunately most of them are missing that spark, or glow in their eyes (if you've met a latina you can tell the difference), but still, some of the girls I've met can be quite passionate once they open up.

Major party tonight, if someone is in BA, let me know.

RE: Bratislava Intel?
Hi, I am based in Bratislava (discontinuely due to my job) since 2008, can share some recent intels with you guys:

NIGHTLIFE IN GENERAL:

In the center of Bratislava, just on friday (best day) and on saturday there is some pretty nice action going on. This is especially true during normal working weekends, because during the holiday periods (christmast, easter and similar) the place tends to be emptier, being Bratislava basically populated by people from all over Slovakia that just work there and go back to their hometowns or to Tatra mountains for skiing at the first occasion.
During the other weekdays the place is quite boring, you may find a good spot occasionally and if you have company there is always some small club to go to that plays music till sunrise, every single day of the week. Still from sunday to thursday Bratislava nights are a pretty low-targets scenario.

You will find many many good looking nicely dressed girls, even if they are not as hot and sexy as those in Ukraine, they for sure are a good sample of the famous slavic femininity and beauty. The average ratio around the center of Bratislava on weekend nights, as far as I can say, is about 1guy to 1girl (occasionaly gets slightly worse like 60-40). Better to avoid the summer season where packs of guys come to the place to get dead drunk and just harrass the girls around (stag parties, ryanair weekend-break special offers etc...). Beer is crap cheap in Bratislava, you can buy a pint for as few as 1 euro in some places downtown, and that has its downsides in term of occasionally attracting large groups of world-class drunks.

Anyway, the best stuff goes on during normal spring-fall months, during those weeks that don't have bank holidays around. In general it is a friendlier place than Prague if you come as a tourist as there is no continous invasion of horny packs of guys ravaging the place like you instead can very often see in Prague.

In general Bratislava is very safe to walk at night. Public transportation is very efficient and cheap and works 24/7 (there are night buses hourly). If you need a taxi, those can be hired for a few euros if you call them on the phone (some of my favourites "+421" 16300 16321 16555). If you hire them on the street and you don't speak slovak they will likely ask you 13-15 euros for a 4-5 euros ride. Anyway the best would be to rent an apartment downtown as most of the action is going on there, so you can eventually bring the girls for "a drink" to your place and you don't need to arrange any transportation at all.
In downtown Bratislava only 3 clubs are charging for the entrance (7 euros if I am correct) those are: The Club, Trafo, Kartell. All the other places (quite small) are for free.

SPOTS DOWNTOWN:

The Club:
this is the biggest place in downtown Bratislava and probably the poshest one. Is not so big anyway, maybe 4-500 people fill the place up. Half table and VIP area, half dancefloor with a big bar. Typical catwalk place. You can find here some of the best talent in Bratislava but of course bitch shields are going to be average to sky-high. It is a good place to go if you have a group of friend and you want to dress fancy, take a table near the dancefloor and approach the bypassers in an aloft-VIP way. Wouldn't raccomand it for the average solo-player. Cover charge 7 euros.

Trafo:
Kartell:
I could say they are basically smaller (but historically older) brothers of The Club. Entry Charge, moderately posh crowd, but smaller in size, all of them underground (like most places in Bratislava). My personal impression is anyway that at these two you can sometimes find more casual and approachable people, but it depends mostly on the night you go out. Both Trafo and Kartell have maybe a capacity of 150-200 people. Cover charge 7 euros.

Rio:
This is probably my favourite. Once again an underground spot, below a nice restaurant-winery-pub. It has a mixed but still kind of distinct crowd, if you go early (around 10-11) buying a 20 euros bottle of wine you can get a table, the place is very small and around 1 am in a good night everybody is pushed around the bar and on the dance floor, having your table definitely puts you in a better position. Maximum capacity I'd say around 100-150 people. It is in front of The Club, on the main square.

Le Club:
not to be confused with The Club, is slightly larger than Rio, just a block away always on the main square. Don't know the place very well, I got a posher vibe when comparing it to Rio but it is basically the same kind of place. Mostly depend on the night and the time you visit the place. People in Bratislava do a lot of club hopping due to most of the places having no entry charge

Antinori:
Masquerade:
Walking from the main square toward Mikalska Brana (the old tower with the compass with below the distance from the other capitals) there are two adjacent places on the ground floor, they are realitvely new and I was relatively drunk last time I was there so I cannot actually tell much about them, worth a look I guess. Not sure about the entry charge policy. Size is similar to all the other places in Bratislava and also music is pretty standardized.

Primi:
formerly known as Medusa is a restaurant-bar on two levels that turns into a two floor disco in the night. It also has a nice open terrace during the summer. No entry charge. Standar music, mixed people. Some very nice approachable and good looking girls can be found here. My suggestion would be to come a bit earlier and try to approach the groups at the tables beacause at this point bitch shield are at their lowest, later in the night it gets less interesting.

Havana:
Just in front of the Primi, is the latin-american music club. If you know how to dance salsa that's the place you want to go. Mixed crowd, no charge, friendly atmosphere.

Priatelia (AKA Alize):
Is probably the hottest no-entry-charge place in town. It used to have a casino on the upper floor and it still has a strip club or something like that underground. Very nice setting, average to posh crowd, standard music. It's maybe a 100 meters walk from Havana and Primi.

Channels:
It's a three-floor underground place. First level is just a bar, but has stairs that bring you down to two small dancefloors. Is opened all week but during weekdays is not very crowded. Very close to Priatelia. Easy going enviroment and people.

Subclub:
It's an ex anti-atomic bunker or something like that. It's one of its kind in downtown Bratislava, it is located after the new bridge (novy most), just inside the hill of the castle. Alternative kind of music, it's probably a place where to go when you don't want to listen to the usual music you hear in all the other place downtown. Of course with alternative music come alternative people. Still, some pretty nice "alternative" girls can be find here too. Generally (but not necessarily) a younger crowd.

I missed a few other minor spots but basically in downtown Bratislava they are all very similar, you can just walk downtown and find for yourself. The important think to keep in mind is that most places are barely visible from outside and many bars have underground dancefloors. My advice is to go club hopping untill you find the right place. You will often see the same people around in more places in one night. Clubs in Bratislava are opened and play music till sunrise. If you want to wind down at 4-5 am in a nice place or need a calmer venue change there is the Casino Olympic on the main square, under the Radisson, nice bar (plain bar, no music) serving alchool at reasonable prices, it is open till morning.

UNIVERSITY AREA:
It is especially interesting if you are in your early 20's, but is worth a look at every age. Cheap alchool, beautiful casual girls and parties almost every night of the week. In Bratislava there are some 70.000 students, so if you pick the period of the year properly, even when the center is dead, if you want a great party you can go to Stare Grunty (that's the name of the road) and check out the Unique (very good tuesdays), Club 39, Elam, and I am not sure which other ones. Elam monthly oldies party is probably the biggest thing there.

DAY GAME SPOTS:
I wish I had more time and energy for that. The best stuff I have seen around in Bratislava is during the day in the several malls around the town. You may want to check-out the Eurovea and AU Park, they are basically opposite each other on opposite sides of the Danube. They are both at reasonable walking distance from the center and very populated. Contrariously to countries like Spain, Italy and similars, people in Slovakia don't generally go shopping or walking downtown, they largely prefer going to the malls. If you are around Slovakia during late spring or early summer, you will see some of the best talent (and mini-skirts) in town, walking around in Eurovea or AU Park. Eurovea in particular has a very nice outside area just on the danube with bars and restaurants that is generally very populated.

GIRLS:
Most about them has been already said in the posts above. If you are looking for the slavic kind of beauty and femininity, this is a good spot, surely not the best in the world but definitely worth a look. Slovak Girls are not soo easy as 10-15 years ago, but is all relative to your kind of game, looks and luck in finding the right spot/night/target.
They are obviously getting more and more westernized, so looks are becoming increasingly more important in spite of other things and there is no chance to come to Bratislava and play the "money game" as you could do in some other towns and countries more to the east, that's unless you really have a ton of money.
The good thing is that if you don't go to the poshest places, at least most of them let you open the conversation and bitch shields are no such a big deal.
Most of the girls you will meet on a weekend night out downtown or at the university place will speak decent english, so if you are not a good-looker, game can help even if you don't speak the local language.

OTHER TOWNS:
I know for sure that some of the best looking girls in Slovakia come from the Presov and Kosice area (casually near the border with Ukraine!), I was there a few times for work, but had no time to explore the place in depth. If you meet a very very good looking girl in Bratislava, good chances are that she is from the east. My impression is that there is a huge potential if you are willing to put the extra work to crack the code of eastern Slovakia, but I don't have any real direct experience with that.
During summer you may want to check out Senec, is a minor resort-town with a small lake some 20kms from Bratislava. A collegue of mine used to work as a lifeguard at the lake and told me great things. I never had the time to investigate that as well.

If any of you guys has any other insight, especially on places other than Bratislava, would be very nice to hear it.

I hope that helps and sorry if there is any wrong information in my post. This is just what I remember and my personal impressions, glad to hear different point of views or any correction. If you need any more info about Bratislava, just let me know, happy to share with the community.

RE: Bratislava Intel?
Nice description of Bratislava man!

I would only add real quick.

Kartell: Closed down but I spoke with the owners and they are planning on re-launching it again.

Havana: Well it is decent during the week, but on fridays and saturdays it gets quite crowded and the ratio of men to women is bad, lots of middle eastern guys who are too damn forward that puts the bitch shields way up.

Zeleny Strohm: Behind Obchodna street, they got live music during the week and latino nights on fridays, good crowd and 1Eur beer.

High Street Club: Also behind Obchodna, this is the R&B Hip Hop dance club, depends on the night you get free entrance or 3eur entrance.
Goblins: This is the expat bar, very VERY popular with foreigners, go there if you want to watch a soccer match and have a relaxing night, it gets crowded and you can smoke inside.

The Plaza: renamed club, below the Crowne Plaza hotel, I only go there during special events so it's quite nice and big, but not sure how active it is other days.

La Fiesta: This is THE Salsa club in Slovakia, has 2 dance rooms fits over 600 people, management is quite good so there's always a special event going on. Tuesday and Thursdays are packed with after dance class people. Weekends mix of people who really know how to dance and hobbyists. Go there if you like latino music playing all night long. (Closes at 5-6am).

Summer time: Maggio T-mobil Plaz - The beach in Bratislava, across the danube it is quite a popular place for locals during summer.

Lakes: during the summer the lakes around Bratislava are always packed with lots of great talent, I really enjoy this city during summer time.
