Scarcity - Party animal vs. hard worker
For the past few years I've lived by the motto of working hard and playing harder. I work as a freelancer which means demanding work, and long and often odd hours (I've burned the midnight oil quite a bit). But when I do go out I like having fun and being social and having a blast.

Since I work weird hours and don't get out as much as I should, a lot of my social interaction with friends happens on Facebook. I try and DHV as much as possible on there and use it to inflate my social proof, knowing that a lot of girls I've fucked, am fucking, or want to fuck can see my activity. But sometimes there can be problems, like when someone publicly asks me what I'm doing and I have to explain why I can't make it.

I know that a good rule of thumb is to make yourself unavailable so as to play hard-to-get. On Friday a bunch of people I knew were going out to dinner, but I didn't want to go (Combination of trying to meet a deadline and just not wanting to make the hour trip out to see them). A platonic female friend who was going there posted on my wall about how I should put down the work and join them for dinner. I teased her for a bit about how duty called and my planet needed me. She responded back with 3 short replies saying things like "Come on!" and "It'll be fun!" I'm not attracted to this girl, but I know other girls can see what she posted. The basic gist is it's Friday and I'm turning down dinner and drinks to meet a deadline, which makes me look like a homebody. I know it can show status if you have a lot of work and it makes you look important and could also imply you're making money. But is it a turn-off for girls to know a guy is really into their work? If I have to cancel plans is it best to just make some shit up about going to another party or hanging out with other people, when in reality it might just be another long work night?

RE: Scarcity - Party animal vs. hard worker
You spend a lot of time worrying about what other people on Facebook think of you.

Is that really how you want to live your life?

Is that really something you think deserves this much of your attention and energy?

Are you really so socially insecure that you feel the need to DHV on Facebook about going to imaginary parties?

Knowing nothing else, it sounds like you need to take a step back. Are you a man or a 16 year old girl?

Get off the Facebook for awhile. Give yourself a month break. Bet you won't even miss it after that and won't go back.

I'm actually a 17 year old girl.

I know that social media can be used as a powerful tool for social proof. It doesn't beat actually going out and meeting people, but I've been told while learning it's best to fake it till you make it. Once you gain natural charisma, charm, confidence, etc. it will shine through in everything you do, giving you higher value overall.

Social media helps only if you have certain things going for you. More often then not it's a hindrance. I managed one lay from getting a chick's facebook and that was only because she was from Brazil and didnt have a cell that worked here as she was staying for a little while.

That's true, and you get that by actually interacting in person with women, not by playing into their frame on FB

I've banged 32 women in the last 15 months and I've never had a FB account

Another thing id like to add is that ever since I have deleted my FB, now when new girls ask about it and I mention that I don't have one they stalk me even HARDER and ask more questions.

All the interesting things about yourself that you should be slowly leaking to her are released at once for everybody to see, completely killing any mystery there was and revealing everything about you.

Facebook? Why? Unless you are famous and get passive pussy messages do something else.

You only have so many hours in life to be a great man. Use them wisely.

Agreed.

Unless you're in a dope band, some sort of party/club promoter or that NAVY SEAL guy from instagram, FB is a detriment rather than a catalyst to your game.

Its like FB is a cyber automaton that peruses your every detail, relationship and interaction and reports it to the girl to judge your cyber worth based on the information provided. These FB chicks don't even need that nosy, inquisitive mother hen best friend that we classically grew to hate and avoid.

FB is her nosy mother hen best friend!

RE: Scarcity - Party animal vs. hard worker
I think you guys are looking at this as too much of a "Facebook vs. No Facebook" situation.

It's simple. People harass you and try to guilt-trip you about not going to things because you're deep into work, ditch them.

Facebook - Remove/block them.
Real Life - Don't take their calls/don't hang out with them.

It's pretty simple really, if they're not adding value to your life, remove them.

However, the OP is missing one big thing. I emphasized a section in his original text below:

The basic gist is it's Friday and I'm turning down dinner and drinks to meet a deadline, which makes me look like a homebody.

If other girls are seeing a girl posting a bunch trying to get you to hang out that doesn't reflect poorly on you, it reflects positively on you.

Facebook isn't the problem. You seem too easy to convince or goad into doing something they wouldn't press you further. Don't make "work" your excuse, just say you have prior commitments and stay mysterious about it.

Can't you just delete the post from your page?

I don't have Facebook but I sometimes use the RUssian equivalent. I've turned off all of the junk so basically all anyone can see is my photos. Nobody sees my 'friend list', nobody posts on my page, no comments to monitor or any other BS.

Yes, if you work when other people have fun/do not work (ie if you're working friday and sat and sun when everyone else is chillin)
