Suiting up for NYE in Dallas
Party I'm going to has a dress code. I really don't care to wear a suit but going to.
Any ideas on what suit to get?
Express is having a 50% off sale so I'm thinking of just getting something to wear from there. Since I'll have the suit I might wear it more, but I don't know. Should I get the jacket and vest or just the vest or what?

Lot of my friends usually dress up in a suit for NYE. What venue are you going to?

I just got back from Russia/England so will save $$ instead of going out NYE, haha. Take care!

RE: Suiting up for NYE in Dallas
The last two years, I suited up for NYE. They were epic evenings. Last year:

I had been working for months doing a job that required about 70 hrs of work each week and had terrible hours. Naturally, I was supposed to be working NYE, but a co-worker agreed to secretly cover for me while I sneaked out for a couple hours.

To make up for the lousy fall I had had with very little social opportunities, I showed up that night at a club with two dates. I don't think I've ever projected so much value in my life.

A met a bunch of people that night. One girl introduced me to her fiancé and later approached me and said, "Let's go have sex" and pointed at her engagement ring saying, "This doesn't matter, I can take it off if you want."

Another girl was right next to me on the dance floor and just blurted out, "You must have a huge penis."

I was working for a fairly conservative institution and my boss ended up finding out and I nearly got fired for my sinful behavior that night. The whole thing was such a big blow to my relationship with my supervisor that I ended quitting two months later, because things deteriorated significantly.

Still totally worth it.

I'm the King of Beijing!

RE: Suiting up for NYE in Dallas
Ended up spending around $350 for a suit that would have cost me around $700 full price.
It's pretty much an off the rack suit but it'll work.

That looks sick! Thx for sharing, haha...

Very reasonable deal that's away from all the typical douche-bachery that will be happening around Uptown/Henderson

My hot spot in Uptown is Prime Bar. It was gonna be $400 a table that includes 2 bottles and you still have to pay for the $65 tip.
Much better to pay $110 for a ticket to that spot with an open bar. Won't have girls talking to you just for free drinks like in Uptown, because they've already been paid for.

Now if I can just find a tailor in Dallas that can do some minor alterations to my jacket before NYE that'd be great! Any recomendations?

Hopefully they get that damn suit fixed up before NYE...gonna be one pissed off dude.

Cho has always been fast for me, but its usually pretty minor alterations.

btw, I'm at Primebar quite a bit. Usually either there or at Sfuzzi. Hit me up sometime if you're there and want to grab a beer.

Good deal.
I may be out somewhere Sunday night. I'm not a huge fan of Sfuzzi, but renfields next door is cool. Cramped but cool. Decent selection of beer.

Primebar and Cowboys Red River are 2 of the hot spots in Dallas for me.

As a sidenote, Sfuzzi's is now closed & relocating soon (not sure where yet).

Landlords in Uptown getting less tolerant & will result in the Loon trying to relocate after this March 2014 as well.

Renfield's is indeed legit & will visit Red River sometime too

I had a Groupon deal at Sfuzzi's before they decided to shutdown Jan 1st, haha. Luckily used it before then.

Sister was visiting town so it was a group outing and then funny stuff happened resulting me running into a gal from the past. Once the school/work sched settles down, we'll kick it bro.

Groupon is still in biz? I thought they went bust. Good to show her around town. Las colinas is another nice spot. They even have a train (never knew that).

No worries, brohammed. I was on-call this weekend.

Yeah Groupon still in biz. They better be. I got 60-70 Groupon bucks to blow still, haha.

Thx for the update on Gloria's Addison. Try a weekday happy hour there...plenty of hot bitches there for the sangria & patio (when weather gets better that is).

Yes unfortunately Sfuzzi closed. Heard it was because of the owner, not the restaurant. As far as I know, the restaurant and bar were doing great. I'm sure something else will go into that space. There was rumors of it reopening eventually in Victory Park but not sure I see that happening. The new place seems to be the Rustic, but I still like Primebar better.

^^ Yeah. The restaurant and bar were great. Same situation as the Loon. I just think the owners couldn't negotiate something with the increasing demands of the landlords so have opted to relocate.

Sfuzzi's Las Colinas is apparently still kicking though.

Forgot to mention Rustic. Thx! Never been, but it seems like a more centrally located version of the Foundry near West Village opposed to North Oak Cliff, which is slowly becoming an "it spot" now.
