I'm heading over there next month to hang out with some friends but yea that place is where a lot of expats go to retire. Its a lot cheaper than Bocos del Toro which is the other expat spot. I might consider retiring there (Boquete) if I have nothing holding me down in the states.

wouldn't other south american countries be cheaper given that panama is on the USD? i hear people are going to retire in argentina and the exchange rate is in our favor.

Panama was real cheap in 2004 but it's no longer cheap.

I think that Uruguay or Argentina would be a better bet. I also like the culture of South America more than Central America.

Supposedly, Ecuador is the cheapest place for retirees.
