On topic to the OP, ambiate so people can chill, those big cushions are probably pretty pricey, beanbag chairs maybe, and don't skimp on the hookah unit; get one of the big fuckers with 6-8 hoses.

Not sure if this link will work. There's a bar called the Zebra Club in Mobile, AL, which was decorated with an Africa theme back in the 50's and 60's, and the décor is still more or less original.

Really cool décor, but the bar is just a crappy dive in a run down area now.

There are so many ways you could do this, cheaply, it isn't even funny.

Forget Zebra or Lion Africa. Moroccan interior design is the idea.

One of those fancy rugs, doesn't have to be Moroccan, your friends can't tell, even a fake one from the flea market. Some low tables and cushions.



If you are free to paint the room a weird color there's character enough right there:


Look at how simple, a few colors, cushions, rugs. Maybe one thing you pay for, like a Moroccan Lamp:




Or maybe just do it from thrift stores and yard sales. This room would look pretty good with a big hookah in the middle, and it looks like it was furnished from the Salvation Army:




You could grab a big plant:



A cheapo rug or wall hanging:



Or look at this, just Christmas lights, creativity, and some fabric. Add a screen or something.



If you bought the right stuff, you could do this by literally scattering the stuff you bought around randomly.

I would research how to build a cigar room. You will get much better directions as far as air purification that will keep your place from smelling like a hookah lounge. Then decorate as desired, though I suggest leather bound books & rich mahogany

Hell, might even be able to project video. To keep the projection source a mystery have it shine from behind the screen (use a black/white bedsheet as a "screen").

I though the same, then I looked a little closer.

The vodka bottle on the desk has been retrofit into a hookah. Of course, getting a hookah is step one I n hoohak lounge design. However, I believe in using what already exists. Plus, shabby chic is always in style.

Zebras stripes aren't just for showing off. It's camouflage from the Lions. In this case it hides the hookah. This is an example of using what you have backfiring.
