Rio de Janeiro data Sheet

BANGS:
I banged 4 girls in the 6 weeks I was here: 2 Brazilians, one of whom became my regular, and 2 tourists.

LIVING:
The best option is to rent your own apartment if that is within your budget. Stay in Ipanema if you can afford it, or Copcabana or Botafogo if you cannot. It has been mentioned elsewhere on the forum that you should avoid staying in Copacabana: I disagree. For me it has the right balance of a decent price, it's on the beach and girls had no problem coming meeting me here.

GAMING:
I did a mixture of daygame, nightgame and online.

Online:
I met my regular through online (Tinder). I also met another 5 or so other girls through Tinder that were all a waste of time due to looks or weird personalities (Tinder users seem to tend towards being internet addicts in my limited experience. Anyone else feel like this?). Without good

Portuguese, the Tinder experience is a little difficult also. You will usually meet the girl and a few of her friends somewhere initially (often on the beach). It's a little difficult to run things and not get completely lost with their Portuguese conversations. After a week or so I dropped all online / Tinder effors - the payoff just wasn't there.

Daygame:
I really liked daygaming on Ipanema beach. Unfortunately I found it quite hard to convince other people to do it with me (and I don't really like daygaming alone), so I did less than I would have liked. But my experiences were largely positive: girls opened easily and were normally interested in having a conversation.

Nightgame:
My least favourite thing about Rio is the fact that you have to pay your tab WHEN YOU'RE LEAVING from all Rio's clubs / late night establishments.

This is an extra barrier to trying to pull ONS here. I had one ONS and one SDL here but they were both from tourists. Brazilian girls don't seem to ONS so easily, and this messed up payment system doesn't help your causes. I tried pulling girls from clubs (quite agressively) on my last few nights out and it just didn't seem like it was ever going to go down.

My feeling is that in order to pull of a ONS with a Brazilian girl here, you need to have a solid wing and target a two set that you can bring outside somehwere for food and then separate after food. Interestingly, my Brazilian friend here told me that having a car here is a huge bonus: one of you is designated driver and drops off the other two first and then brings his girl home to bang. Without some sort of setup like this, it just
doesn't seem to me like the regular Brazilian girl is easy to ONS.

(Sidenote: Are there any posts of ONS in Rio on this forum? I'd love to read the breakdown of getting the girls out of the club, and separated if anyone is willing to share!)


VENUES:
Lapa: Street is a lot of fun but quality can be very hit and miss. Rio Scenarium was ok the night I visited, but full of tourists from other parts of Brazil and further afield. Tourists from other parts of Brazil are not worth the effort imo: too much fear of getting separated from their friends in 'dangerous' Rio. International longer-term tourists ARE worth chasing here imo and are some of the best ONS prospects. I dipped into that pool a little but it wasn't the main focus of my efforts.

Dune Bug: A fun little bar in Copa that draws a decent crowd on the weekend. Definitely worth a look.

Shenanigans: There's something a little wierd about this place that I can't quite explain. Too small, too expensive and the girls in here just don't feel quite normal. Not really worth the visit.

Emporio: Reasonably grim the time I got there (~2am) but I imagine if you got there about 12/1 and were willing to sacrifice on standards a little, it could be ok. Very backpackery crowd though which I'm not really that interested in these days.

Lord Jim: Went and looked in from the outside.... looked like the kind of place your parents would go for a walk on the wild side. Skip.

Bukowskis: Big rock bar in Botafogo, quite fun but the quality of girls in there wasn't so high.

Casa da Matriz: Like a smaller, and slightly less classy version of Bukowskis (in Botafogo also). Fun environment but quality is a notch lower than Bukowskis.

Baixo de Gávea:
Good quality but quite hard to open, probably because there are a lot of upper class brasileiras here and it's a place where people come to hang out with their friends rather than trying to mingle too much.

ZeroZero:
The entry is pretty expensive, but the patio area of the club is one of the few places where I found it quite easy to open upper class Brazilian girls. The rediculous line to pay to leave won't help you with ONS but this is definitely a place to create leads.

Portuguese:
The most important thing you can do to boost your chances is get some decent Portuguese under your belt. Study for a minimum of two weeks if your trip allows, but 4 weeks would be even better.

Nuthe:
This club is in Barra, one of the richest parts of town. Club felt very social-circle, most people there in big groups. I didn't really enjoy it.

Great things about Rio:
* Depending on where you live you can walk everywhere during the daytime - in Ipanema / Copa there's enough in terms of beaches, girls, bars, restaurants to not have to move too far.
* It looks beautiful: go up to any of the high parts of the city (Dois Irmãos particularly recommended) for a spectacular view.
* Aside from accommodation, you can live cheaply if you really try: eat supermarket food, drink beers on the beach, go to sambas, beach parties or street drinking in Lapa at night (all night buses running) and you can make your funds stretch.
* Pretty much every girl I dated offered / insisted to pay her share. Sometimes I let them, sometimes I paid and she paid the next time. But the fact they always offered was nice.

GENERAL ANNOYANCES:
* Fat middle aged women who won't move an inch in an effort of compromise when walking down the street
* Trying to buy anything: by the time you've bought it you'll regret the fact that you decided to buy it. There's always a queue and it always takes ages. For groceries, shop in Zona Sul supermarket if you can: the slightly higher price is well worth not having to stand in line for 30 minutes in my book.
* Getting a chope (draught beer) that's one quarter foam
* Mal-educadas (litteraly: impolite girls) - usually the fat, ugly friend of a girl you're trying to game. Will be really noisy and forceful in her opinions, can be very hard to listen to!
* Hearing the word 'longe' (pronounced laun-jee) in response to the question "Where are you from?" - it means the girl your talking to probably lives over an hour-and-a-half out of town by public transport..... that's gonna be a barrier for your Day 2.
* Having to pay when you are LEAVING a club... did I mention this one..?

WHEN TO COME:
I think the winter period, between new years and carnival is probably the best time to come. You don't have to pay the superbly crazy rental prices
of new years and carnival, yet there's still loads of parties happening every week and it's perfect beach weather so there's always plenty of hot girls there.

MY FINAL OPINION:
I like Rio de Janeiro. It's a very fun place, people like to enjoy themselves, and there's always a lot going on to prevent you from getting bored. Safety in Copa / Ipanema / Botafogo is not really a huge issue anymore. Girls are not as easy as the reputation of Brazil suggests, by a long stretch. Most aren't looking for ONS and most are keen on something longer term, which detracts a little from the fun-factor of nighttime here. I feel like the payoff of having a really good setup here would be huge: if you had an apartment in Ipanema, a car, very good Portuguese and were in a good social circle of locals I feel like you could really kill it here, more than most places. Is it worth all that effort....? I'm undecided right now.

(To the forum mods: I read the post where it says not to post a new thread on Rio, but the last Datasheet listed there is from 2012 and it doesn't seem like people have been adding detailed Datasheets on the back of others, so I decided to make a new post. If I have erred, let me know and I'll post where you request!

So as per your statement it seems Brazilian girls get fat as they age (middle aged fat women not moving on the sidewalks) and seemingly common fat cock-blocking girlfriends.

My fellow American friend has lived in Rio for a few years. His girlfriend (20s) started getting fat. When he was about to leave her she got pregnant. Another testament to Brazilian girls putting on the pounds.

Were there many overweight girls in general?

Solid sheet. I had a lot of the same observations.

I went to the Lord Jim one night because it was around the corner from me. There were a lot of backpackers in there, mostly from Argentina. There were some hot ones, but the Argentine men are possessive to say the least.

00 has some really hot girls and I agree that outside is better for talking to girls. I kissed this stunning girl from Porto Alegre there, easily one of the four or five most beautiful women I've ever approached, let alone kissed. I couldn't get further, though we traded numbers despite the fact she was going back to PA the next day. I still shoot her the occasional what's app message. If she ever comes through NYC, that poooosy is mine.

Matriz was pretty good to me. Always teeming with cute girls. I made out with a hipster girl and a television host in the same night. There's really something there for everyone.

SNL's are significantly harder than in the US, despite the initial and undeniable sexual vibe the girls give off. I'd love to set up shop for a year or two here.

This is one of the stupidest things I've ever experienced in business. I was in a club in Vila Madalena (Sao Paulo) and was working this girl over from my social circle there. She wasn't having it at all and this went on for a couple of hours. We were both pretty tired of each other by the end of the night, but we had to go to the other side of town together, so we waited in line for like 45 minutes while the people at the club got their shit together before we could pay and leave. We had a good laugh about it the next day, but I would be pretty pissed if having to wait in line to pay my bar tab caused me to lose bangs on a regular basis.

@MD as you know, I didn't do well in Rio, and I think Brasil in general is overrated as a place you can just pop into for a few days and bang 2-3 women. That said, I was happy with my overall results when I left the country, and I miss Brasileiras every day for their femininity, sexuality, and the fact that you can still have a good time together even when they're shooting you down in flames. For me, American women just don't compare, and I suspect after I've lived in Brazil for awhile and have the lay of the land, it will be even better for me. I think the main reasons I didn't do better is because I didn't set ambitious enough goals going in, and because I wasn't always as aggressive as I should have been. I won't make that mistake again.

That system used to really piss me off. I was in Villa Madelena one night with a mate and we decided to duck out without paying our bill as the line was huge.

We went to another bar a block or two down. Little did we know that a bouncer had followed us from the previous bar and confronted us.

We played the tourist card and said we didn't know how it worked. He told us to follow him back to the first bar and brought us upstairs. I thought a beat-down was about to ensue, but we paid our bill and went on our merry way.

Actually worked out to be a lot quicker than queuing up.

I'll be in Rio for about a week during the World Cup so the dynamics might be a little different then. Staying at a penthouse in Copa with some friends. I plan on learning at the very least some common phrases in Portuguese before I go. I plan on doing more however. If you had 4 weeks what materials would you use or what aspects of the language would you focus on?

OP - Good post man. Very authentic and accurate. Only 17 posts and you know how to write an actual data sheet.

You cited a lot of the important venues to check out. Nuth in Barra is very much a social circle spot. I actually went there on my very first Rio trip in 2008 with a few locals and got bottle service. Even then, some of the bitches there were pretty stuck up. Outside of my own circle, it wasn't that fun.

Brasileira chicks are not conducive to the ONS, contrary to popular belief. Rio's sex reputation mainly concerns the p4p scene, which is globally renowned. The hype is the fact you can get a pretty hot prostitute for a relatively affordable price by western standards.

But for game, you're better off pulling a foreign chick who either lives in Rio on some temporary basis (best bet) or is simply visiting for some period of time.

For locals, a social circle and/or solid Portuguese skills is pretty much necessary.

Btw, there's been data sheets since 2012. I went in Feb 2013 and dropped a sheet (but it was only a long weekend trip) and I think other members have been after me and dropped intel. Where did you see the forum mods say not to post Rio intel?

Either way, I normally don't rep people with very few posts, but this is a strong sheet and I can tell from your profile that based on your extensive travels, you have a lot of intel and experience to share, so I repped you up. Keep up the good work.

Re: the fat issue. I noticed that in Southern Brazil (which is richer than elsewhere in Brazil) a lot of the middle class and upper class chicks have adopted the American fast food, drive everywhere, feminazi approach to life. I was pretty shocked how many fats I saw in Rio compared to the North and also by this new breed of Brazilian feminazi chick. I guesstimate that a wide majority of upper class girls in Rio/SP are busted/fat/feminazi nowadays. I imagine it will only get worse.

Rio's women are mal educadas, i feel glad that you noticed that. I don't even approach anymore, i just can't tolerate it after some travels to Europe. The paying on leaving is really terrible for ONS and it is the standard in the whole country, but ONSs are still happening at a good rate, could be a lot higher.

Not loads but definitely quite a few. Really it's not something I pay that much attention to, I filter it out unless they annoy me for some other reason. But Sao Paulo is the only city that has seats for the obese, Brazil drinks more soft drinks per capita than any other country and the easyily accessible food here it pretty fattening. Some girls exercise but not that many. I would say its a growing problem!

For Lord Jim I probably arrived a little early and left immediately, perhaps it's better later. Matriz was a quiet night, some of the girls in there told us (despite it being a Friday), it was only maybe 1/3 full. Matriz I'd probably go back to, it was still fun.

Do you mean 4 weeks full time or are you working at the same time? I wouldn't spent much / any time learning phrases and I would just get a decent beginners book and try and complete it. Something with reasonably condensed chapters (less white space and pictures = better) and with accompanying audio CDs is ideal. I used "Teach Yourself Brazilian Portuguese" which I found very good, and you can find online in a cheap manner. If you don't know what SRS and Anki are, look them up and use them too.

I mentioned it just to warn people, but in fact usually it wasn't my target that was mal-educada, but one of her friends. It seemed that every girl I hung out with had one girl in her group that fit this discription. And usually they weren't trying to deliberately cockblock, but were just being generally annoying. I tried two tactics: sit out the ride, let them talk themselves out and stay politley uninvolved; or take the piss out of them in a bit in effort to put them back in their place. The first option worked better and is what I would do in the future. Perhaps having stronger Portuguese would give me a better shot of pulling off the second method, but it never worked out for me. I don't think it's a strong enough issue that it would put me off going back, but it is good to be aware of.

I was in Rio for 10 days last May. Definitely a fun city, although it can be tough to find the good parties at night if you don't know where to go. You need a plan for sure.

I had luck my last night there at Rio Scenarium. Gamed a Brazilian hottie on vacation from the Salvador area I think. Her English was non existent, but she had a friend that spoke it a little better. Met her in the crazy dance area part of the club so the language barrier wasn't as much of an issue. After maybe 2 hours of bullshitting I suggested we leave to my place and she readily agreed. Maybe I got lucky, but I felt like this could be repeated at that club on a fairly regular basis.

I think it definitely helped that she was on vacation, because most local girls you meet in Rio live at home with their parents and always need to go back there at the end of the night. That was what killed me a bunch of times earlier in my trip.

I actually don't remember having to pay my tab at the end of the night this time. We were in the dance area that is on the 2nd or 3rd floor I think and almost in another building. I think they had their own bar setup so perhaps I paid it there. I was pretty drunk though so may be remembering this part incorrectly.

Anyways. Rio fucking rocks for sure

I'm a guy who typically doesn't like clubs at all, and I think Rio Scenarium is a great club. Great talent, great music, great ambience, reasonable prices.
I struck out there the one night I was there, but a great time was had by all, and look forward to going back there again. And yes, you have to pay on your way out. I want to say they take your i.d. or credit card when you go in, and you have to cash out in order to get it back.

Hey Warder, that's quite a nice breakdown of a ONS in Brazil, thanks for posting it, it's got me thinking a bit!

I actually think the way you did things is a good way to go about getting a girl to ONS from club: have her utterly and unreservedly convinced before you pull her out (including giving her enough time to inform/convince her friends on what's gonna happen). The last few nights out in Brazil, I was trying the 'get her worked up and pull her out hard and fast' method that can work in the West, but I was getting solid initial resistance when I went for the pull. My interpretation is that I was going for the pull and then the girl was thinking "But my friends, we need to sort out money to pay, I can't go". Perhaps I'm being a little kind to myself here, but I'm sure there was at least a little of that sentiment involved.

I mentioned in the original thread that tourists from the rest of Brazil weren't worth the effort. This post forced me to rethink. The reason I said that initially was because my friend and I ran a lot of sets on Brazilian tourists and we always found that they were very clingy with their friend group and hard to separate, so we eventually tended to avoid such sets. But thinking back, girls from some cities were a bit more chill in their environment: those from Sao Paulo seemed pretty comfortable (most has visited Rio a number of times) and girls from Belo Horizonte I remember as being particularly scared and clingy to their friends. Salvador is one of the more dangerous cities in Brazil, so perhaps girls from there feel pretty safe anywhere else.

So yeah, the updated advice should be to pursue Brazilian tourists if they seem pretty comfortable in their environment. And have a girl 100% convinced that she's coming home with you before you try and pull a ONS.

I have one question; about cash

I'm traveling to Rio during the World Cup and I'm concerned about using my debit and credit cards. For example, I've heard of many travelers having their cards duplicated when using it for transactions and when using it at main ATM's.

What do you recommend doing in order to have cash?

Of course I could bring a lot of cash with me and stash it and only take what I need for the day but it's not safe to have so much cash stashed at your residence with no safe.

Hey Kaka, I just used my card there and had no problems. I heard about the scams your talking about too. I assume that works on a swipe plus camera system, so I guess once you cover the numbers you enter well then you won't have a problem.

Most apartments have doormen so keeping a chunk of cash in your place is probably fine, unless your bringing back girls with suspect intentions, who may well rob you. Having a big wad of cash is gonna make for a nervous trip in from the airport too.

I'd just bring a card.

I've never had any problems. There are a bunch of Citibank's and HSBC's in Zona Sul. My card would not be accepted at any Banco do Brasil's however.

Quick tip:

DO NOT USE ANY ATM AT THE AIRPORT. Get some Reals through exchange.

It's common knowledge among Cariocas that the airport ATM's are rigged to get your pin.

Thanks guys for the tip. I'm thinking about using my card but it guess it makes for a nervous trip by carrying large sums of cash. My credit card company said it takes about 4-6 days to send a replacement card in case of fraud so I'll just have enough cash to cover those days.

I stayed in a private room at a hostel, brought a girl from a night club with me and then the security guard wouldn't let us in. I tried to convince him, but nothing helped. I would have just handed him some money, but we were separated by a flight of stairs and a jail-like door with bars. He didn't speak any English either. The girl just fucking bounced. On the same night, I got food poisoning from eating street food. Other than that, Rio was ok.

I got fined 50 Reais for bringing a chick back to my hostel private room one time in another city.

Could've gotten away with it...but next morning..told chick to bounce. Waited about 10-15 minutes. I see her downstairs..bout to peace..but grabbed quick breakfast..kisses me on the cheek. Hostel owner/receptionist sees it..publicly reprimands me for the guest in front of the other hostel people. Was embarrassing. That was the same afternoon I'd check out as the owner still kindly gave me parting gifts of cakes/candy since we got along the whole time anyways.
