So I've been seeing this show on Netflix for a while and though typically I'm not a fan of British comedy I never really knew what the show was about.

Basically Ricky Gervais has this buddy who he jokingly refers to as an idiot all the time. The guy definately doesn't like going outside his comfort zone and is kind of a pessimistic guy overall.

Basically as sort of a travel show and a joke he sends this guy to checkout different locations, festivals, activities, etc. He tends to try to make the trips as miserable as possible staying in dumpy hostels and crazy places.

Was receovering from a hangover yesterday so was laying in bed and blew through quite a few episodes, pretty funny and pretty intresting. One thing I really liked that differed from typical travel shows is rather than going to posh 3k a night hotels this was more realistic travel for the average person, most of hte time probably below average standards The other thing which was cool is where as most travel shows try to be upbeat and positive and not talk about how terrible a city smells or something like that this guy is a realist and kind of a pessimist and points out all the bad as well.

I thought it was both entertining as well as kind of an interesting travel show, if you got netflix I'd recommend giving an episode a watch and see what you think.

I love this show. Karl Pilkington is hilarious

I love that show. I've seen all the episodes. Shame they aren't planning anymore shows. But I believe Karl has another travel show or venue that's a spin off. He's bloody hilarious

I have this on my Netflix que for awhile, I like any kind of travel shows. I will have to check it out.

I can't stand Ricky Gervias. He's so un-funny it's painful.

I watched him do some stand up on the telly once, I lasted two minutes. About as funny as testicular cancer.

Idiot abroad can be interesting. Can't say I find Karl Pilkington that funny though.

Pilkington did another travel series for BBC late last year called 'the moaning of life'. It's different from idiot abroad but still good.

not sure if it's on netflix.. might check youtube?

I think the series is okay, but it seems a bit forced now. There free pod casts were awesome.
