Had an incident the other night where I did this, the details were hazy and it's not clear who was in the wrong but I knew the chick and didn't know the guy so I kind of white knighted a little bit. I'm pissed at myself for it. Lesson learned. Has this happened to any of you since you've started understanding things better?

Yes, the first date I went on shortly after finding this forum. My father convinced me to buy dinner when I told him I planned on getting the girl to buy me sushi and pay for beers afterwards. I found out AFTER I bought her dinner that she had two kids. Also didn't bang.

I'm sorry to hear that. That sounds uncomfortable and it's possible that this other guy harbors negative feelings for you. If so, hopefully you can make it up to him one day. (But maybe he doesn't.)

I think it's natural to want to white knight a bit. We're a bunch of guys that grew up in societies that respect the rule of law and the protection of the police. Women can be vulnerable and as men of virtue, the temptation can be to protect.

Many of us have transitioned or may one day transition into being fathers - it's a similar protection that we offer to our children. It's unfortunate that women take advantage of it.

I always give myself the "switch the genders" test. If I would assist a male in the same way, then I feel comfortable providing support to a female in the same position.

Although I did see a woman get hit, fall to the ground, and then kicked. I ran up and stopped the guy from laying the boots to her. But then she got up and attacked me.

Imagine that scenario if I would have stopped a man from getting stomped. I would have been thanked.

Would I do it again though? Yes. I cant stand around and watch someone get boot fucked, man or woman. The fight is over, treat it as such, or else it moves into attempted murder quickly.

Good point, thanks. Looking back at the incident, I definitely would've done the same for a buddy of mine (probably worse since I'd have an ally more capable of violence than the chick).

I don't think it's wrong to stop a guy from going too far. That isn't really white-knighting so much as not wanting to see a man really doing damage to a chick that might land him upstate for a considerable time. You know no jury will see any justification for a man to stomp out a bitch, no matter WHAT she said or did to him.

If I know a girl and I'm friends with her, I'll look out for her when needs be. If she's really drunk in the club for example and some dude is trying to take advantage, then I'll step in.

Any other girl? Nah.
