Anyone seen the latest from Slate's "Dear Prudence" blog? A 20-year-old writes in asking how to keep her much older b/f. Prudence's answer is the usual feminist bullshit (reverse the genders and you can bet she'd answer differently), but I think the letter writer's existence and her tone confirm a lot of game ideas. This guy must be a total Alpha to get her in this state of mind -- and should be an inspiration to those of us who have said that after 40 you start to be invisible to women this age. Guess not.

With this being said, I sometimes feel like I’m not good enough for him. I’m still in college getting my life started and he’s already been through this stage and is making his living. I feel when he goes on his trips to give his “talks” to big companies that he’s going to find someone more equal or on his level. He says that our connection is too strong for him to go anywhere and that he’s never felt this love with anyone before. How can I know this whole thing isn’t me just kidding myself?

A: Since you’re in college, take a statistics class and run some regressions on how much life you would have left to live without him if you ended up marrying someone 26 years your senior. You’re 20, so it’s perfectly understandable you’ve never felt this way before. He’s 46, so I’m guessing he’s felt this way before lots, only he’s enjoying regressing to a more juvenile state where it seems appropriate for a middle-aged professional to be dating someone who lives in a dormitory. Despite your great love that will last forever, you feel insecure self-conscious with him. That’s not a good sign. It’s one thing to have a fling with an older guy and learn some new moves in bed. It’s another to plan your life with someone who’s your parents’ age. So I’m going to speak for your parents and tell you you’re kidding yourself. You’re not even very happy with this guy. Break up and start seeing the promise in the boys your age who like you are just trying to figure things out.

This girl is looking at things entirely the wrong way around. A lot of guys (like me) don't WANT someone on their level. We like the feeling of taking care of a young, innocent, inexperienced girl. The fact that she's a 20 year old student is going to make her more attractive to her boyfriend, not less.

One of my g'ma's outlived my grandfather by 33 years. The other is still going, currently at 24 years. Of course both hit their 90's while both grandfathers died at 72.

Besides, girls don't look at the big picture for things like that.

She feels inferior to him because she is inferior to him. She's just a kid, still trying to figure out life. He's successful and he's got his shit together. That is why she thinks he's superior, and she's right. Youth isn't the most important thing to her, which is why you see more older men with younger women than the other way around. What's important to her is raising her status, which is why she's attracted to men with status.

So don't forget that YOU are also superior to most of the girls you're after.

I'm 36. I've been smashing an 18 year old for a few months. She was considering being with me in an LTR. Once it became close to being real and not just a fantasy, she freaked out because she knew she wasn't really in my league for that kind of situation and backed off. Now she just wants the D with no strings.

I'm 27 and have banged a 17 year old (legal in my state) and a couple 18 year olds this year. Got into a pretty serious relationship for about 6 months with a 21 year old. I ended that and am now in a relationship with an 18 year old.

I never bring up the age. It's not a problem for me, and if they're sucking my dick I guarentee its not a problem for them. I've even had many of them tell me that they liked our age gap, and that's mainly to the game I run on them.

I lead and I teach them. I introduce them the finer things in life, things I couldn't provide a girl with when I was younger and hence the younger guys she knows can't either. A nice lifestyle where I'm not living paycheck to paycheck. Good homecooked meals. Good bottles of wine. Sex that comes from around 13 years of experience, as opposed to the barely virgin guys her age. Knowledge and experience.

A lot of comes down to being able to connect with her psychologically as opposed to just physically. Those small gestures that set you apart from the guys her age. The little techniques that establish dominance. You essentially put her under a spell. It can work just as well with chicks my age, but why would I waste my time on a 27 year old when the 18 year olds are still coming my way?


P.S. The 18 year old I'm in a relationship with recently told me the other night as we were laying in bed that she is intimidated by my lifestyle. She feels we come from two different social circles (she had a rough teenage life due to several things out of her control) and is afraid she isn't going to live up to my expectations.

No, but I live in a big city surrounded by many college campuses. As I was in the city before that. And where I went to grad school. And where I worked before that.

All you have to do is meet them - anywhere. coffee shop, mall, any Park, the subway others have pointed out is a great move while waiting, walking home drunk [you or them] baseball game, art museum [def underrated], bookstore, benefits, charitable events, etc.

That's not to say they usually 'fall into my lap.' But acquiring an 18-20yr old who wants to date an older guy is not very difficult. If she only wants to date guys her age, then it doesn't matter what game you run. I know one fitness model getting slightly famous who will only date guys at least 5+ years older than her. I'm 20 years older. She loves spending time with me.

Another girl in my rotation flat-out likes older guys and has no interest in LTR or sleeping around. She wants one guy, successful, and not like 'the idiot boys' she goes to school with. I'm 20+ older than her and she has told me I'm not the oldest guy she went on a date with. Just the oldest she slept with.

If guys would actually listen slightly more when they were gaming, they'd find these opportunities more often, instead of removing themselves from the playing field. If you're older and she likes you, she won't hesitate to mention something about 'older guys' she likes. Or young boys she hates.

I agree with Horn. By 40 you can recognize their IOI's much clearer than at 21. You can also wield the power of your age and status more deftly. Status isn't a badge you are given one day. You slowly become skilled over your lifetime with its use.

I can walk up to that 20yo and just start talking. Most of the time she doesn't feel threatened and her guard is much lower than it would be with a young guy. If she cops an attitude (rare) I just give a strange look and say, 'you're young enough to be my daughter!' Shuts them right up. They think they misread your friendliness and are permanently on the defensive.

The spectrum of topics we can discuss is also more varied. For example, I can ask what she does then just start giving career advice. They always listen. It takes very little to confirm their assumptions that I am knowledgable and successful.

Also, 21yo boys step out of your way, give you space, and listen when you speak. In the rare times they don't, you can shame them very easily if you choose, or you can lean on 20 years of experience to make them look like a fool in front of a girl. The way the boys treat you is a great DHV.

Young women do have major shit tests for older men. MAJOR. I seriously believe they hold back on you younger guys. But EVERYTHING is fair game with someone over 40. But you have 20 years of experience in how to deal with it. And since a woman's infatuation is proportional to the level of shit tests you pass, you can sink your hooks much deeper than the younger guys.

All that being said, not one of us older guys wouldn't go back to 21 if we could. Ha
