Do you guys generally find it necessary to get a burnout phone/chip when travelling to other countries? My last trip out the country was my first time buying a phone while outside the country but it ultimately ended up being instrumental in me getting a flag. Just curious as to your thoughts?

Not sure what burnout means here.

I typically take a spare smartphone and buy a local SIM card if I'm going to be staying a while. For short trips I may not bother and just use my usual phone/SIM - most people you meet have whatsapp so that is easy to communicate with as long as you've got regular wifi.
