Mozilla CEO fired for supporting Prop 8
http://techcrunch.com/2014/04/03/brendan...fb&ncid=fb

"Re/code adds that Eich will also step down from the Mozilla Foundation’s board as a result of the changes. Pressure had been put on Mozilla to reverse the decision to install Eich as CEO since a donation worth $1,000, for the 2010 California Proposition 8 legislation repealing gay marriage was made public."

Lunacy. What if someone was fired for donating a grand to Save The Polar Bears? Fuck polar bears and fuck you too, bears can be any color they want!

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

Not surprising. Opposing homosexual propaganda has become a thought crime. Welcome to the police state.

Came pretty quickly after the whole OKC thing.

Pretty much every website uses Javascript.

This is just so absurd.

The guy that got fired invented JavaScript. For his services to civilisation, he gets his career wrecked. Meanwhile, the skrillexed woman who fired him has never created anything in her life.

A useful reminder why people on this forum choose to be anonymous.

I wish we didn't have to be. But society won't allow people to have honest debates in public anymore. There is always some corporate femcunt snitch who wants to use your words/beliefs to get you fired.

Coincidentally, I had decided to give Firefox another try as a meaningless show of support for Eich, but I had to cave last night because the fucking thing leaks memory like a cheap sieve. Now Mozilla has a new CEO and the product still sucks. At least I can drop my one-man crusade and go back to using what works.

RE: Mozilla CEO fired for supporting Prop 8
I've read the article several times now and I ... I just have no words. My mind has been blown, in a very negative way very sad

Incredible. I know that there is heavy discrimination against people who voice any anti-gay opinions (for example, the Croatian high jump champion Blanka Vlašić's sponsors were under pressure to stop doing business with her because of her support for our recent referendum), but this is a whole new step. That a major inventor and a CEO of a huge company can be fired just like that - and for his opinion that was voiced 6 years ago - I just don't know what to say.

Holy fuck.

Gotta redouble my efforts to get out of this clusterfuck.

RE: Mozilla CEO fired for supporting Prop 8
The founding fathers would be ashamed to see these days. Freedom of speech is being trashed for the sake of gay rights.

Also I see a self destructive pattern in liberalism.

Free spech -> freedom of choice -> tolerance for everyone and every choice -> defending choices -> opposing those who don't tolerate choices -> opposing those who criticize choices -> destroying any criticism -> no longer allowed to criticize -> no more free speech.

How do you call this? The cycle that ends up destroying itself?

Also this reminds me of the CEO of lululemon, CEO of that pasta company that refused to have gays families displayed as ideal family on their packs, the firemen who got fired for 'sexist' tweet, the IT guys who got fired for 'sexist' joke and many others.

The irony is that too much liberalism leads to cencorship and fascism. Who here can disagree with me when I say a Russian, an African, an Arab, an Asian or an Eastern European is allowed free speech more than an American in issues like Gay Rights, Minority Rights, Feminism, Gender issues and many more? This is not the first CEO who got fired for having an unpopular(?) opinion, and unfortunately he won't be the last one.

RE: Mozilla CEO fired for supporting Prop 8
Several good editorials have just been written about this. They're compiled at the American Conservative in the article "Gay-Rights McCarthyism Takes Brendan Eich Scalp," as good a title as any for this.

He quotes something written by gay conservative blogger Andrew Sullivan that I really think gets to the heart of the matter:

"If this is the gay rights movement today – hounding our opponents with a fanaticism more like the religious right than anyone else – then count me out. If we are about intimidating the free speech of others, we are no better than the anti-gay bullies who came before us."

I don't think gay marriage advocates get the damage they're doing here. Witch hunts are never good for a cause. And these are those like myself who long supported this issue, but now won't because it degenerated into a litmus test for political correctness and is no longer about "equality."

RE: Mozilla CEO fired for supporting Prop 8
These people don't understand what they're doing with this kind of overreach. They no doubt consider this a victory, but they're actually sowing the seeds of their own destruction. The backlash for this is going to be absolutely brutal when it arrives. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that within our lifetimes we're going to see these people ("social justice" activists of all sort) being dragged out of their homes and executed in the street. When the right wing and traditionalists feel like they can't be pushed any further, they're simply going to start shooting. It's going to look like an American/European version of the Taliban, or perhaps Nazi Germany. That's just how these things work. Like a pendulum, once a society swings so far in one direction, it doesn't reset itself back to a neutral state - it swings completely in the opposite direction for a time. The corrective phase of decades of progressive cultural Marxism will inevitably be some kind of authoritarian traditionalism or fascism. This is already beginning with Golden Dawn in Greece, and it will spread through the rest of the Western world as well, first in Europe (where we are already seeing it spread) and eventually into the U.S. The progressive cancer afflicting Western civilization is eventually going to be destroyed by a massive and concentrated dose of right wing chemotherapy, and the body (society) is going to suffer tremendously in the process.

"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” - Romans 8:18

Was it even the gays though this time? It was probably a bunch of concern junkies, the equivalent of white knights. I think that's even worse.

Is it just me, or do others see this entire process of public witch hunts accelerating?

I have just recently noticed a really horrible state of mind in myself. I'm at the point now where I am so sick of these liberal fuckwits that I just want to see them lose if possible, or as a consolation prize, actually get what they want.

I'm pretty much at the point where I want Vladimir Putin to invade the Ukraine, where I want China to invade/take over Taiwan, where I want Saudi Arabia to publicly execute one hundred gays just to give a massive middle finger to the West and the virus it has become.

Or, I want Hillary Clinton to win the next U.S. presidency and the Republicans to be completely annihilated politically so that the libtards can implement their craziest schemes. I want the crazy economics to continue, I want all of the West to become a giant Detroit, just so I can say to these clowns, "You wanted it. You got it. Now enjoy it."

Obviously, I don't really want any of this, but I find myself between a rock and a hard place. I don't want to live in a non-Western authoritarian regime, but I don't want to live in a Western authoritarian regime. I don't want what the West has become/is becoming, but I also know that the cure is going to be horrible, as per what Scorpion wrote. I am just surprised it hasn't already happened. The streets of Europe, and also the U.S., I think, are going to run knee deep with blood within a generation. Who wants to live in such times? Yet who wants to live in the lead up to such times, either?

I guess all we can do is try to set ourselves up as best we can in the meantime: acquire rural land away from the likely epicentres of conflict, or diversify assets across multiple regions, get second passports, etc. Hunker down guys, it's going to get ugly. It has only just begun.

Another thought just came to mind. What if this particular episode was orchestrated so that Mozilla can/could get a female replacement? What if these outrage junkies are either in on the conspiracy or useful idiots?
